my opinion is buy them both, use mata as playmkare because Balague said that he can play as playmaker, and use Hazard as winger. 50m for both, bargain.

Hazard can go to Arsenal. Mata is tailor-made for Arsenal and would've catapulted them to the next level. He is so similar to Robert Pires' in his style of play and that is precisely the kind of goalscorer from midfield Wenger has been missing for years.

Just got a text of a mate saying Scott Dann is on the bench today for Brum which is significant because Rajkovic`s WP has been turned down and Alex is leaving for Juve by the end of next week. hmmm

I'm probably a bit thick or something, but why is this significant(your post, not me being thick)?

Presumably he's saying

1. We'll sell Alex

2. We'll have to sell/loan out Rajkovic, because he won't be able to play for us

3. We'll sign Dann as our 4th centre back, mostly due his Englishness

Exactly that Cam, Dann is presumed to be leaving Brum and as we will be down to 3 CB`s he could well be coming to us. Its a fair bit of presuming but my mates a Brum fan and its the rumour they have heard.

Dann's started on the bench for their last couple of games if I'm not mistaken. I thought it was because he had just come back from injury?

Or he could be going to Arsenal.

Can't see a mention of this elsewhere, perhaps as it is so unlikely, but apparently a site called Fanatix reckons we're buying a Montenegren striker called Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina. It is listed among the BBC's Gossip stories - not that means anything.

Kind of like the idea but no idea why we'd want another striker knocking about the place.

I'm pretty sure he's a player who can slot in behind the striker, or play on the wing.

I could be wrong, I haven't seen too much of him, but from what I have seen (and heard), he's a very talented young player.

That said, unless the club does indeed see him as a winger, it wouldn't make sense. But I don't think the club are silly enough to buy another player to use as a striker in the middle.

Unless there is a feeling at the club that Drogba and Anelka are on their way out at the end of the season.That would then leave Torres, Lukaku and Jovetic as strikers (assuming that Sturidge is being developed as a wide attacking midfielder). He ticks all the boxes, ie young, talented, and available at a reasonable price. And if he can offer versatilty it is another tick. It is certainly the kind of signing I approve of but it is hard to see us buying another stiker right now.

Have we ever been linked to Kevin Doyle? He's a pacy, hardworker much like Kalou and he can certainly finish, would fit the same role as him in the squad but in my opinion would be an improvement.

Liverpool are not getting Sturridge, so they can forget it. It's laughable.

I see rumours that arsenal is willing to spend some of the fabregas money on lilles eden hazard. Lille wants about £25-£26 mil for the 20 year old, who has won 2008-09 and 2009-10 Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year and also the 2010-11 Ligue 1 Player of the Year. He also managed 12 goals and 10 assist last year and was a key player for lille to win double.

I think eden hazard would be a better buy for chelsea then modric, I will be very happy if we get either one of them though, but fearing arsenal will get a great player and we left dissapointed in the modric deal should spuds refuse to sell. I think we should atleast throw in a bid to lille to have both options open.

Modric and Hazard aren't really direct substitutes for one another - Modric is mostly a deep-lying playmaker of the type we're hoping Josh will grow into, while from what I've heard of Hazard he's a winger who can also play in the hole. I think we're better set for deepish midfielders over the next couple of years than for wingers and attacking mids, even with Mata's arrival (Anelka and Kalou both have their contracts expire at the end of the year, while Josh/Mikel/Romeu/Ramires are all set for the long haul in midfield), so I'd also prefer Hazard, but they'd fill very different roles in the squad.

For the first time, I can read these press stories about Studge potentially leaving and not be worried there is some truth to them. AVB obviously has him in mind for this season.

I'd like this to be true. What with Piazon, lets get more south and central american flare on the books. This kind of thing really would suggest the club have an eye on a more flamboyant football style in the future. And it could help avoid Neymar type sagas.

That would get us one hell of a backup keeper. Though we already have Hilario so I doubt we would go for Storari.
