I don't agree with signing good-average players to cover/compete with just good players. This is why i'm not too disappointed to have not gotten Oxlade-Chamberlain. If we can't get a WB we think better than Moses or Alonso then we shouldn't sign one. That said, if both Mahrez and Lemar move tomorrow, we'll have missed a trick if we sign neither of them. Well, that's a flawed logic. I'm all for buying better players than we already have but what if for whatever reason we're unable to land them? Stay put? What happens when either Alonso or Moses, or both, get injured, suspended, lose form? We've got no wingbacks except those two, and even Moses is a converted wingback, it was done out of necessity. We have four competitions to take part in plus most players will play for their national teams. It's a long tough marathon of a season, and unlike last year we're back in Europe. Conte must be fuming with this show of incompetence after the promises he's been given.

August 31, 20178 yr Anyone else expecting some random buys we've not even been linked with before. A Rwb, Lwb & CM are needed just to provide cover alone. I think llorente would be a good buy just to give us another option up front for the season.
August 31, 20178 yr I think I'm going to avoid any news today, I'd rather wait until it's all confirmed. Sky Sports News is pretty cringe worthy on Deadline Day, especially when they make out at least one other club are interested in possible players we are after, they love to hype it up.

As the only coverbis pulling other players (Dave & Pedro) out of position which would also not give them a rest when needed.

No they don't. There is a reason we have chased wingbacks all summer.

August 31, 20178 yr Does kylian hazard count? If only, I might put some money on it now, we had all summer to get deal's done and dusted and another last day panic is in progress.

And anyone saying otherwise is just simply spoilt

August 31, 20178 yr Too little too late this approach should have heen taken before anyone goes on loan. Sign the players you want then send players on loan
August 31, 20178 yr I really gone beyond frustrated now all i can do is laugh, i work with 4 Man united fans and a Liverpool fan and i will have to put up with them for the next 9 months if we dont make any major signings absolutely ridiculous
August 31, 20178 yr In the worst case scenario Conte will switch the squad into a 4-3-3 with right back and left back not pushing too much forward
August 31, 20178 yr Any signs of a Papy like transfer yet? When did the Papy news break out on deadline day?
