April 16, 201610 yr Everything that is wrong with modern day football, muggy pricks stood on a street singing & filming behind old bill lines, they've probably watched sh*t films like Green Street, bought a Stone Island jacket & think their now part of the firm, pathetic. Why not go off the main drag where plenty of Chelsea were willing & waiting to get their hands dirty, its quite clear obviously why, because the pricks wouldnt know an off it came over & hit them on the head. Agree. Too many people seen Football Factory, standing around looking moody near the cops...
April 17, 201610 yr Author You're not wrong CB. I'll bet this trumpet wasn't around at the League Cup replay when plenty of Chelsea were in there below the Shelf when Townsend scored and it all went off. A makeshift Police line went in pretty sharpish that night. Always remember a Chelsea fella is blue jacket taking on all comers, he was game as f**k that night.
April 17, 201610 yr Author Agree. Too many people seen Football Factory, standing around looking moody near the cops... Spurs are another lot who have those muggy Ultra groups, couple of years ago they came out of west brompton giving it y*ds y*ds y*ds, walked round the corner & got run, only being saved by plod, the thing is they looked the part but had no bollocks. They put Spurs proper lot to shame, mugs.
April 17, 201610 yr Author Was that the game they got a few smacks down towards the atlas ? Yes mate, i'd just got in the POW when some of my lot came in & told me about it.
April 17, 201610 yr Yes mate, i'd just got in the POW when some of my lot came in & told me about it. Yeah I remember quickly on their toes. Not the best move from them getting out at west Brompton

What a bunch of Muppet's they would of Sh** themselves in the old day and I bet it's the first time he seen a mob like this so had to film it, They so brave when the police are there and of course they would run a mile if our main mob confronted them with out the police
April 18, 201610 yr Remember being at a night game against West Ham in 86 very very dodgy night but this I have no memory at all would love to know if anyone was there.
April 18, 201610 yr Remember being at a night game against West Ham in 86 very very dodgy night but this I have no memory at all would love to know if anyone was there. I went! I think this is a game Speedie and Spackman came back to playing after falling out with the manager and Bates. Few months later Speedie Went off to Coventry and Spackman to the scousers.
April 18, 201610 yr some more pics of when we had no history [sorry if some have been covered before]
April 19, 201610 yr Was thinking the other day about modern day relationship between supporters and players and how they differ from years ago. During the 80s and into the early 90s remember chanting players names followed by give us a song. Vinny Jones always got involved, Townsend, Wisey and I remember Eddie when he became goalkeeping coach getting the fans to sing one man went to moe. Always good at away grounds before ko with the fans shouting shhhhhh!! So we could here the start of the song.
April 19, 201610 yr Not sure, but that black and white picture of the shed might be the 84/85 season, remember first season back in div 1, and playing Liverpool, the shed was packed by 1:30, and the dippers coach reversed down the side of the East stand. In those days from the shed you could see cross, as there was the open terrace and gap between east stand and shed. The shed just roared "who the fxckin hell are you" I'm sure I could see the terror in Hansen and Dalglishs faces. That picture just looks like everyone is looking across in that direction with fingers a pointing. Remember the game, made the fatal mistake of getting out of the middle of the shed at half time, but had no chance of getting back in (inexperience of youth), watched some of the second half on the closed bit of terrace by the shed, until the old bill moved us out. Think we won 3-1? Kerry scored won beating Grobbelar at his near post? Edited April 19, 201610 yr by chi blue

In the days of Bonetti webb mcCready etc most would wave after their name chant...David webb would stop his warmup...Put his foot on the ball and wave up at the shed
April 20, 201610 yr Liverpool 3-1......Joe McLaughlin scored as well, Brucie came for a ball he was never going to get (surprised?) and big Joe headed it over him from 12 yds......scenes
April 20, 201610 yr Have a look at Webby in that team photo. Looks like the only player, with the start of a beer belly!.

When I went in the 70s and early 80s the warm up always had songs for most of the players which were sung until said player waved to cheers from the fans. I've often wondered when this stopped? I didn't go much from then on and don't remember the players initiating songs as you describe but it sounds great - we don't have that much interaction between the players and fans anymore - though it's still good when it does happen. Take a bow JT!

Take a bow JT! I think it started to slow down around 2007 only a few names being sung. Vinny Jones was the main one to get the fans singing. We would chant vinny vinny give us a song and he would gesture with one finger to start one man went to moe and applaud us when we finished. A small gesture but at least there was a bit of interaction with the crowd.

In the early 80s used to pop into the Palmeston on the New Kings rd straight after the game, through the beer garden door as they didn't open until later, and often saw players in there having a beer. Barota was a regular, sitting at the bar with a pint and a ciggie Remember Kerry Dixon driving a new Ford Sierra with his name and sponsored by Ford all over the sides. Can you imagine the players today during a Ford? Or having their name plastered all over the car? Edited April 21, 201610 yr by Shug
