After the old Shed closed in 1994 I moved to the West Stand and had a ST there for three years before moving to the MHU. I remember after the last home game in 96/97 a few people were trying to removed the seats but with out much success. In the close season the club put them up for sale. I went to the shop in the close season and there was a pile of the seats near the West Stand. I should have pinched one.

That's interesting as against Millwall in the FA Cup Feb 95 a fair few were flying through the air as Millwall charged the pitch.

April 19, 20197 yr Had the pleasure of seeing Kerry, Paul Canoville, Johny B and Colin Pates last night. I’ve met them many times but as the four were together I couldn’t resist a selfie! Whilst having my picture taken some young kids asked if they were famous!! I explained each player with an example of a modern player for them to understand. One asked how many goals Kerry scored , I said 193 and Kerry stated how many more than Drogba he scored. I showed them Kerry’s goal against the ars and they all shrieked!! I said remember his name and watch him on YouTube!!

Earlier this week Tambling won a poll of Chelsea supporters to choose a former player to be added to the wall. You can read an extensive interview with our former star scorer, including his memories of the Shed, here. Before we took on Slavia Prague yesterday a crowd gathered towards the west end of the wall for the unveiling. The host was Chris Hollins, son of Bobby's former team-mate John, and there were also words from chairman Bruce Buck and Tambling himself. He met supporters young and old, signing autographs and posing for photos. The plaque bears his preferred no.8 shirt and words on his glittering Chelsea career. And how fitting that within 26 minutes of last night's match the Shed End net had rippled four times with Chelsea goals! Good to see this. Cheers.
April 20, 20197 yr For Tambling, there is special significance in being honoured at the Shed End of the ground… ‘People used to ask which end we preferred to play towards and it was always the Shed, it was the one all the players preferred.' The roar from the fans who were in there, it made a big difference to the lads in my day, they could lift you when things weren’t quite going your way.’ Great quote from Bobby.

Brilliant, I've showed my two lads years ago Kerry's goal at Arsenal and banged on about 20k at Highbury, they are now 25 and 22 and when cologne bought 1,000s to the Emirates last season in Europa cup we watched on TV and they turned to me and said "not as many as Highbury 84 a Dad!!" Making sure the youth know what proper away support is like

April 21, 20197 yr Not football but when Speedway races took place at the Bridge. I know it's been discussed before but it's amazing how many different sports have been played at Stamford Bridge over the years. I can think of football, rugby union, rugby league, American football, cricket, greyhound racing, speedway, mini-car racing, baseball and athletics. Any more? Edited April 21, 20197 yr by Boyne
