@Munkworth Apparently if you own the first 2 games, in the future you get all races in the newest 3rd one on a large map.

It's so far 2 human factions, one is not-Russia.

Roy Hodgson will be pleased then. I couldn’t give a sh*t.

Right, got Horizon Forbidden West. Played the first couple of hours and it’s a gorgeous looking game.

Apart from that it’s pretty similar to the first one, looking forward to properly getting my teeth into it tomorrow and exploring more.

Seen some clips of it and it looks incredible. You enjoying it so far? I will definitely play it but I’m taking my time with Dying Light 2 which is a great bash.

Yes, very much so. They've made some changes that makes traversing the Forbidden West so much fun. And the game looks so beaut that I find I'm stopping constantly to take photos with the photo mode!

The gameplay is really good; fighting against the machines is as intense as it ever was. It all feels so ALIVE.

My God. Elden Ring is getting perfect scores everywhere- IGN-10/10, Guardian 5 stars, Eurogamer “Essential”.

Ive not played a Souls game in my life and I don’t like overly difficult games which require dying a million times, but it looks incredible.

Skyrim is one of my favourite games of all time and Elden Ring looks like that except with way better graphics and a better open world. I want to play it but not convinced I will be able to get to grips with it. I’m still playing Forbidden West and loving it so maybe I’ll give it a go at some point in the future…

Gran Turismo 7, for those that like a race.  Can't put it down - luckily a PS5 arrived Fri also.

I was reading the reviews. Seems good. Are there micro transactions though?

Yes. They didn't add them until all reviews for the game were out though.

disgusting really, and the prices are disgusting also. The problem is reviewers and fanboys allow companies to get away with this sh*t, will defend them even. The mess on the Elden Ring games is another example. They knew it was a sh*tshow but told reviewers it would all be fixed in a patch before release, so they reviewers ignored the faults. Then when it was released the patch made it worse ha ha....but no one condemns it because its made by the great From Software and fanboys will not allow them to be denigrated.

Just spent 30 mins on Dying Light climbing a tower and killing bad guys - only to throw a Molotov and kill myself at the end. Fuming.

Had to switch it off and take a game break.

One thing I have learnt this week is that Elden Ring is not easy.

I've been playing it non stop since release. Steam has me at 67 hours. Really is all you could hope for from a Dark Souls open world game. Still a decent way from completing it too, probably in the final 25% of the game.

It also has the most difficult first 'major' boss of the series which trips up pretty much everyone. If you're struggling, explore the starter area, find some dungeons, level up and upgrade your gear. The Jellyfish can poison him, meaning you mostly only need to survive until he dies.

That’s abit naughty.

To make things worse, they have just made changes to the payout of credits on certain races because players found a way to earn credits faster. They might as well just come out and say that they don't want you to earn credits in game, they want you to buy them.

As noted above, GT7 is full of micro transactions.  I would hardly call them mico though - $20 nets me 2M in game credits, yet collector legendry cars can cost between 1.5M up to 13M credits.  Earning credits in game is tough too - no race pays out more than 100K that I have experienced, and they are typically in 25-50K range.  The economy needs fixing in the game, and they should have grid starts, but outside of that it is sublime.

Edit - new legendry cars came out, and the McLaren F1 is 18.5M.  Using micro transactions, that car alone would be $180 after buying a $60 game, makes no sense.  The alternate is grind races for 25+ hours to save.  No one has time for that.

Sad state of affairs the gaming world finds itself in. Saddest part is people will still pay for this sh*te.

I’m nearing the end of Dying Light 2. Only 5 missions left. I’ve taken my time on it and done a lot of side missions and explored the city. It’s a good game overall. Quite challenging. A few bugs here and there but nothing major. I’ve still got a lot to do in the game.

Even sadder is console warriors defending it with incredible mental gymnastics. Its a massive rip off, it would be a rip off in a free to play game, but its even worse in a £70 one.

Agree.  They really need to address this as it removes incentive to continue playing the game.  I'm 39 now and don't really have much time for gaming - its supposed to be some kind of escape and not a run on my wallet!
