Kevin De Bruyne

Yout tubed up, not always the best method but the The kid actually looks quite handy, ticks all the above boxes, the fact that most of his highlights consist of assist is encouraging. He wont be that pricy, its almost a punt to noughting and we need to do somthing. Do it now i reckon

Exactly the kind of signing I would love to see us make. If we struggle to break someone down, throw this lighting fast kid on against some tired fullbacks and just have him cause havoc.

And please, please, get him on the phone with Hazard too!

You are clearly not American then if you're giving ESPN that much credit. :)

Fair enough, but Sky are now reporting the same set of quotes:

De Bruyne reveals Chelsea talks

Genk midfielder hopes to sort out deal

Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne hopes a deal can be agreed to take him to Chelsea after claiming that discussions are underway over a possible move.

The highly-rated 20-year-old, who has already represented his country at senior international level, helped Genk to the Belgian title last season.

He has been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge for much of the summer and it now appears the Blues have stepped up their interest.

De Bruyne says talks are progressing well and he is optimistic an agreement can be reached that suits everyone.

Genk have previously stated they would not allow Chelsea to send De Bruyne out on loan to one of their domestic rivals, after reports suggested he might go to Anderlecht to smooth over the Blues' proposed move for Romelu Lukaku.

De Bruyne insists he would have no problem with returning to Genk for another 12 months, having spent his entire professional career with the club.

"My manager went to Chelsea on Wednesday and discussions have been good," De Bruyne, currently out of action with a calf injury, told Extra Time

"Maybe by the end of the month a deal can be sorted out, because that would be a good thing for all three parties - and if there is an agreement with Chelsea, I would certainly spend another year at Genk."

Lukaku's transfer to Chelsea is expected to be finalised this week after a deal was agreed with Anderlecht, while the Blues have already recruited Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois from Genk and allowed him to go out on loan to Atletico Madrid.

Once we were Italian (under Luca/Gullit), then we were Portugese (under Jose) now we will be Belgian (underAVB). Better get my waffle iron out.

Why..?

Well the fact he would be staying in Genk for a year as part of any deal puts me off it to tell you the truth, we desperately need players in a couple of key positions for the next campaign to remain competitive.

If we're only making one signing then for the squad we'll either be short of the creativity we need, or short on width, decide for yourself which will be more frustrating watching a winger stretch the opposition , create space for chances and not having the vision from midfield for the right ball to get played, or technically weaker players containing our wide men making each opportunity harder for the creative player to make, and for the strikers to finish due to tighter marking.

Hopefully AVB was talking about signings for the current squad, which under the sign-and-loan plan De Bruyne wouldn't be. Signing talented young wingers who want to come to Chelsea is a good plan in general, and I'd be happy with the deal on those grounds, but I agree that he's not going to fix any of the problems with the current squad this year.

Could this pave the way for Belgian beers at the Bridge? :)

Dont think this guy is reliable at all to be honest.

And really dont fancy the loan back idea, it is our most desprate area he or some one of simmeler qualitys is needed ASAP

What makes this kid so special, doesn't look ready at all judging by appearance numbers etc.

Haven't send him play but shouldn't we be going after other talent

All depends on the price, the kid seems to have some attributes (all be it on youtube) that we need, speed, the ability to go round his man, know's when to put a cross in and the right type of cross. He's only 20 and playing in a league that is not that strong so we shouldnt be looking to pay mega bucks. But if we pick him up for between 3-8 million and he turns out to be sh*t hot, what a bargin, if it doenst work out, well it's one of the cheaper gambles.

Flip it on its head, it would be better then doing what we normaly do, let another team (spuds) take the gamble uncouver him, then get locked in a summer long battle and end up paying 5 times the origional ammount.

He looks the biz,(do some you tubing),got a ferocious freekick on him.and just loves to play those glorious little thru balls, got pace and skill, could be a link man a No 10...

I really hate the idea of loaning him back, it's not like we have 3 wingers in front of him, surely he can't do much worse than what Kalou, or Anelka. Last time we loaned out a promising winger, he never came back.

He reminds me of Duff. Not just the hair but he has pace and tricks and he scores goals and likes to deliver the ball into the box early on. Looks like very promising player and not that far from first team football in England.

I genuinely don't think he'd do a worse job than Kalouda, and at his age will only continue to get better and better. Hope we take a chance on him.

Hey! I think Kalouda is actually a pretty decent player and we've been linked with him.
