What does Roman want now?.

Featured Replies

With the club winning the Champions League, the last big trophy,'Roman's holy grail', as the press would like to have it,as a supporter, you wonder what Roman desires next?.

If Robbie gets the job (& he's earned that chance),what do you think Roman will require of him next season?.

What do you think, realisticaly, would he have to achieve to not only keep the job long term, but Roman happy as well?.

Top 4 league finish & retain the Champions League maybe?.

Perhaps only winning the Premier League in an attacking 'total football' style will be enough?.

The CL thing has always been a bit of a distraction if the truth were told & maybe used as an excuse for some poor league performances in reccent seasons.

But, maybe, that belong's in the past now..............

What do you think Roman Abramovich will want next season?.

Getting back into the Top 4 is paramount. I also think that, with the players we've signed already and with a couple more, the board will probably demand a decent title challenge, but I would expect us to fade away as we're not quite as strong as City or United. They'll want us to put up a decent fist of defending both cups, but they can't possibly expect the team to retain the CL as its never been done before.

I presume Roman will want us to play with more flair to, and to perhaps - and I hope - blood some more youngsters, in particular Bertrand, and maybe even Lukaku, McEachran if they don't go out on loan (although I'd expect that they will).

I think he wants Chelsea to be feared, a la the Mourinho years.

Turn the Bridge into a fortress once more, stomp the cellar dwellers in the league, and stop rolling over for Liverpool, Arsenal, United, etc. like we have the last 2 seasons.

In short, bring the swagger back.

I think you are looking at Roman's ambitions for the club in a little bit of a negative light. Roman comes off as a demanding owner who will bring out the axe if things aren't going "his way."

But I see an owner who wants to win with the club that he loves. Now I am not a parent and therefore don't fully know the desire to want a child to do well, but I feel Roman see Chelsea as his child and wants only the best.

Last season Roman fired AVB...at a glance, oh there goes Roman firing another coach again...in reality, AVB threw away a 3-1 HOME lead to ManU, lost 2-0 to Everton, tied Birmingham in the FA cup, lost to Napoli with BOSINGWA in left back, managed to beat Bolton and then lost to West Brom...Do you as a fan remember how torrid a time that was going game to game? I was literally embarrassed when I talked football with my friends.

Ancelotti had a rather poor run of form and was losing a grip on keeping a "Chelsea" style of football at the end of his tenure. The last game of the season we lost 3-0 and I don't recall seeing anything creative or innovative.

Roman sees faults and cuts ties with them...if a babysitter wasn't doing their job you wouldn't continue to give them work.

The problem most football fans see is that we don't have a long term coach like Fergie at United or Wenger at Arsenal...while I wanted AVB to be our 'Fergie,' if they simply don't get our players or system I can wait.

Roman wants everything just as any owner does, I feel he will see how good his new bought players do and how much depth our youth allows us to go in all competitions. Then once an initial assessment has been made, realistic objectives can be made.

Putting next years top four other goals aside, I think Roman is really motivated to either build a new stadium or turn the Bridge into a massive stadium. He wants to expand the club and building a new site is a huge goal for him.

What about looking at the next 10 years ?

The first EVER football club to win back-to-back Champions league titles was Chelsea back in 2013, they won the prestigous trophy for their first ever time in 2012 at the home of Bayern Munich, followed up in 2013 with a final victory over Barcelona at what some consider to be Chelsea F.C's second home, Wembley stadium in London- where they recently won their record breaking 12th FA cup final, the most victories by any team in history. After winning the Premiership title for 8 of the last 10 years, Chelsea only need 1 more Premiership title to equal Man Utd's record of 12 titles set back in 2011.

Top 3 finish, semi finals of UCL. Most importantly, get the team working as a unit and play nice attacking football. Don't think Roman will expect too much in the way of silverware or cups, since it's quite a different team and style compared to last year.

To win the Champions League again, but with attacking football

Also, he wants us to become one of the biggest clubs in the world, like Madrid or utd

Seeing as he's invested loads of money into the youth academy I would think Roman would want to see some young talents coming through the ranks and reaching the first team. Perhaps he'll let the manager gamble more on the youngsters. Seems like we've been afraid of doing that for several years, so maybe now that we've finally won the big one, we can start looking at our talents.

And I also think Roman would like us to play more attractive football. If it wins us anything of course. Doubt he didn't like our defensive style when we won CL.

I think balancing the book will be on his agenda. We may invest heavily this summer, but doubt we will we will be very active in future. He's a businessman, he didn't get to where he is now by fetching out Millions every year. I think it will be a good thing for the club.

the last thing roman will expect is the the team will "fade away" after the money he has spent and will spend close season.we were not as strong as utd or city in the premiership this year but we won the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.i fully expect us to be in contention on all fronts and not not "fade away",next season.

He wants more.

He wants to win more CL trophies. He wants to win more trophies in the Prem. He wants sexy football. He simply wants more. We accomplished what many would have considered impossible. I can't imagine Roman settling for just that one CL trophy. If we can win the CL, we should be able to compete everywhere and I think we'll get back to it.

He's like the kid that just had his first taste of his favourite food. Not only does he want more, but he wants a lot more of it.

Now how we do this while trying not to spend a f**k-ton of money is going to be the trick. And quite frankly, maybe Roman doesn't care about that unless FFP really does stick and we get hammered by it.

I agree with this. Roman has a big ego. Roman would want to win every trophy, but getting a new stadium and making Chelsea a worldwide brand the size of Uni'ed, Madrid and Barca would be a goal of his. Hell, it would be for me as well.

None of you mentioned a world-class stadium with 60,000 plus capacity.

Sometimes, stadium does go on to enhance the reputation of a football club. And I'm sure RA will go all out in order to achieve that.

What do you think Roman Abramovich will want next season?.

This should keep him happy:

Community Shield

UEFA Super Cup

FIFA Club World Cup

Carling Cup

FA Cup

League

Champions League

I am a bit worried about the Carling Cup but the others are all achievable

Beating Barcelona 6-0 in the Camp Nou, signing Messi while he is still in his prime, beating any side managed by Mourinho in the final of the CL, seeing Gerrard retire without having got anywhere near an EPL winner's medal, Torres scoring 25 goals, a 70,000 seater stadium, relegating Tottenham in the final game of the season, hearing Slur Alex say "Chelsea are the team we are all trying to catch".

Oh, and winning the CL more times than the mousers................ "we won it 18 times, we won 18 times, in Barcelona, we won it 18 times"

The list is endless.
