September 10, 201213 yr 5 penalties last season. 16 goals. Rather more weren't penalties than were. Of course, based on this season so far, he will pass the record solely with penalties before christmas! That's why I said these days ES! I heard a pundit mention on the radio the other day that Frank hasn't scored in open play for Chelsea in something like 18 games (that's assuming his facts were correct?)

I heard a pundit mention on the radio the other day that Frank hasn't scored in open play for Chelsea in something like 18 games (that's assuming his facts were correct?) To be fair, there have only been 3 or 4 games this season! Also, hint - the pundit might not be quite correct.
September 10, 201213 yr To be fair, there have only been 3 or 4 games this season! Also, hint - the pundit might not be quite correct. Simple solution = Lamp's last goal for CFC from open play. Anyone? Come on ES, I expect you of all people to be able to come up with that info!
September 10, 201213 yr Im not sure about him breaking the record, he is playing in a deeper role now and as others have said i think he would need another season. Will he get a new contract?
September 10, 201213 yr Lampard will get 100 caps and he will break the record. My god folks, haven't you learned anything over the years?

September 10, 201213 yr Simple solution = Lamp's last goal for CFC from open play. Anyone? February, at home to Bolton, under AVB. He's scored penalties since of course and he scored from a wonderful free-kick against Spuds, but that was the last from open play. What do I win?
September 10, 201213 yr February, at home to Bolton, under AVB. He's scored penalties since of course and he scored from a wonderful free-kick against Spuds, but that was the last from open play. What do I win? Sorry, we are a bit like the BBC here and are unable to give prizes. Thanks for the info anyway. February??? Is it really as long ago as that? Sell him.
September 10, 201213 yr Does it not bother anyone that Frank keeps making those runs into the box? Only zombie Mikel left dragging his feet in midfield then. Skews the formation of the team.
September 10, 201213 yr 2 goals in 3 games this season plus 2 goals for England. So what, 3 of them were penalties. I think he will do it this season. Super Frank!
September 10, 201213 yr How fickle life is, it was less than a year ago when that little spuds muppet AVB was benching the Super one & a lot of punters on here were slagging him off saying his best days were over his future appearances numbered etc etc I love it how he has proved them and the England boo boys wrong, Frank is a LEGEND, whether he outscores anyone else or not. you know who you are

Frankie didn't play well before that, but after returning from the bench looked more hungry and played better. So maybe taking him out of the team was a way to wake him up and work harder?
September 17, 201213 yr Chelsea Legend - no question about it but right now should that guarantee him a starting 11 place? Every game? And playing 90 minutes nearly every game? He still has a massive role to play for us but RDM must see that Lamps and Mikel isn't working and it's getting a little bit of a concern that he keeps persisting with it. Oscar isn't getting a look in at the moment, just as McEachran didn't last season and all because we seem to be waiting for Lamps to play himself into form? Our best team performance this season was against The Bar-Codes when he was left out (and then Miereles was promptly off-loaded!!). No one player is bigger than the club or more important than the team and I sincerely hope we see proof of that over the next few games.

Frank has to improve in the next few games. Central Midfield is without question our weakest area on the pitch at this moment in time. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Frank and the legacy he has created at this club. However, his performance levels are currently not up to par.

I hope he gets the record but he has not been impressive so far this season bar the goals.
September 17, 201213 yr Does it not bother anyone that Frank keeps making those runs into the box? Only zombie Mikel left dragging his feet in midfield then. Skews the formation of the team. It's just more proof that Lampard is not a deep midfield player. It doesn't bother me that he is making those runs , it bothers me that he is playing where he is.
October 8, 201213 yr He didnt look too happy about being subbed on saturday. I was hoping to see how he was with Robbie on the sidelines but the stupid TV cut to he goal so i didnt see how he reacted. Maybe Frank is starting to get a bit sick of being left out or subbed. People on here are saying that Robbie is handling Frank better than AVB did but how long will that last? I wouldnt be shocked if this keeps on to see Frank going to the media again like he did last season. Also as much as i would hate to see it i think this is Franks last season at the club if Robbie stays.
October 8, 201213 yr Author Hard to know, you'd be a fool to bet against him. He could hit a brace and score himself into the team, he's been doing it for a decade now, lol.

The difference between this season and last, is that when Frank went to the press lots of people were starting to doubt AVB! If Robbie is still getting results and Franks not playing, he will have no grounds for complaint!

Don't get wrapped up in how the press portray these things. He had a very good game on Saturday too and one goal (from open play too for those who think it matters :p) nearer to the record.
October 8, 201213 yr He didn't look happy because he was carrying a knock. He asked to come off. Don't get wrapped up in how the press portray these things. Yep, it was even said at the time so I don't know where this 'he didn't look happy purely because he was subbed' nonsense comes from.
October 8, 201213 yr I was watching an internet feed so didnt hear he was carrying a knock and asked to be subbed. Fair enough then.
