Tap ins, penalties, long shot stunners, headers, chips. Lampard is one of the greatest goal threats i have ever seen.

I heard a few days ago that if Lampard reached 10 goals he would be the first to do so ten seasons in a row. I can't remember if it was league goals and if it was the first player ever or the first midfielder.

 

Anyone know more about this?

First player to ever hit double figures for 10 consecutive EPL seasons from what i've heard.

Yet again the only thing to celebrate today is another Frank goal.

 

197 goals scored and only 6 to beat the record!

He was already the only player in Premier League era to have scored ten or more league goals in nine consecutive seasons. The goal last night just put him even further into a league of his own.

Will be so so happy to see Frank beat the record. No one will break it for decades.

That sounds right.

It's really impressive seeing as he's "just" a midfielder. A striker scoring atleast ten in ten consecutive seasons would be great, but a midfielder doing it - absolutely amazing.

 

He needs a new contract now!

5 more goals and Frank can run to the director's box and stick two fingers up - but we know he has far too much class for that.

Basically, no he hasn't. Rooney's only done it in nine consecutive seasons. Frank scored just in time before Rooney could have shared his record of nine consecutive seasons. Now he's the only player to have ten in ten and will have it at least until next season. But he will always be the first one.

well in his last season at everton he scored 9, then 10 or over at manure for 9 seasons, so he's practically matched it.

Great goal yesterday. Lampard is definitely one of those players that will always be seen as a Premiership great. Phenomenal scoring record for a midfielder. Seems to be fairly decent bloke as well. You don't hear of him being mad-mouthed by other pros or pundits.

Nine is not ten. He's scored ten or more league goals in nine consecutive seasons, but before yesterday he'd done it only in eight consecutive seasons.

You have to draw the line somewhere and ten has been chosen as the number by the stat keepers, probably as it's a good round number. Not even Shearer or Henry have managed it. Henry didn't play enough seasons (in the Premier League) to have a chance, though.

Rooney will probably end up breaking Shearer's record for most EPL goals (around 260 or something I think), but this is one record Frank will always have gotten first.

Really well taken goal by Frank at the weekend.

No.  He is the only person to score that many goals year on year.  That's why he is the first person to do it.

 

You are, however, right to say that achieving that from midfield is quite astounding.
