I really disagree. Lukaku is great for a team like West Brom who aim for the top half etc, but i don't think he should lead the line for us. I actually find it a bit discerning that we seem to be losing targets to our rivals. What happens next season when United have Van Persie, Hernandez, Rooney and possibly Ronaldo, City have Cavani, Tevez and Aguero and we have Lukaku, Torres and Ba?

Though I agree with you somewhat, I would would counter with this point. Man u and City dont have Mata, Oscar, and Hazard. We solidify our D and grab a defensive mid, I woupd woupd be fine with Ba, Torres, and Lukaku. (especially woth the three amigos behind them)

Meh. Touche.

Drogba wasn't exactly a superstar when he came here, Lewandowski was a nobody 2 years ago, these "superstar strikers" have to come from somewhere, and name me a more promising teenage striker in world football right now than Lukaku.

I'm of the opinion it's in both the club's and Lakaku's best interests to get another loan next season.

17 leagues & another loan, while Torres & Ba are misfiring? Agree its a different pressure playing for us, but scoring a hat trick as a sub against a Fergie side is not to be sniffed at. It is also something when Lukaku plays less mins than Torres but doubles his output. Personally; I would sign a top class forward, sell one of Torres/Ba and let Lukaku compete on a level playing field with the one we decide to keep.

That just isn't true, though.

How many Premier League goals does Torres have for us overall?

the only thing thats not true is that torres has been at chelsea for 3 years

Make that two years and a half.

Falcao is signing for monaco tomorrow, Lewandowski is likely on his way to Bayern. If we're going to sign a world class striker it would appear Cavani is our best shout but to be honest i think he'll go City or even Madrid seeing as they've missed out on Neymar they will be looking to back their next manager with a big signing.

So in terms of signing a world class striker any one else got any other suggestions? Personally this just makes it obvious we cannot afford to let Lukaku go out on loan again. He has scored 17 goals in the league so we will benefit with this next year considering Ba and Torres' rate in the PL is abysmal. Think we will miss out on a marquee signing!

Having said that getting Jose in would be a marquee signing

Only top end striker left who could move clubs in reality are Ronaldo, Rooney, Suarez, Cavanni and I can't think of much else.

I don't see any of the above coming here tbh.

quality ones left:

Falcao, Cavani, Lewandowski, Suarez,

Rooney, Gomez, Higuain, Zlatan

Soldado, Negredo, Osvaldo, Jovetic,

El Shaarawy, Yilmaz, Jackson Martinez,

Damiao, Aubamayeng, Benteke, Kiessling,

Mkhitaryan, Son Heung Min, Lacina Toure, Aspas

You're joking, right?

2010 - 2011 - 1 goal

2011 - 2012 - 6 goals

2012 - 2013 - 8 goals

Total - 15 goals

God damn those are depressive numbers...If Torres had buried all the sitters he had this term we'd have finished second, easy. Not good enough. The man got us the EL trophy or at least was the biggest contributor but those league numbers are just unbelieveably weak.

Lukaku will get 20 easily if brought back next season I have a feeling Jose will develop him like he did Didier

Well I hope Lukaku is ready but I just don't see him being ready just yet..Did he even play full 90min games for WBA? He is over 100kg. Can he even run for 90mins like he needs to...

Every time I checked wheter Lukaku scored this season he was always subbed on or off at some point.

Yes he has played 90 mins on a good few occasions.

He is ready, he has been scoring goals and dominating defences like Uniteds.

I seriously don't see the point in spending a fortune on a guy, loaning him out and seeing him perform far far better than any striker we have and then sending him away next season again when we have the same lacklustre strike force.

It's plain daft.

During the time Jose won the double, we didnt have a 30 goals striker. I think 3-4 good strikers ( Ba, Lukaku etc) plus a creative midfield will be more than capable to win the title.

I agree (re: double season), but we had the machine that was Frank Lampard who would guarantee you a double digit goal tally in the league (and 20 goals a season in all comps).

If you want to have title aspirtations, you need to have a striker who can provide 20 goals a season domestically and have others who will chip in with the goals. We fulfill the criteria with the latter but don't with the former, yet, and I hope that that will be resolved this summer.

Not even two and a half yet.

That can't be true, surely? How many goals has he scored for us in the league since he signed? About 20?

this leads me to believe that all the torres defenders and those saying he should be given more time need a reality check. those people are either delusional or barely even watch chelsea matches
