Since when is Torres sh*t? I was the first one against signing him, but that was more because of the fact that he abused us everytime while he played for Liverpool, and because I knew how much money we would spend... but to call him sh*t? At one point he was top 3 or 4 strikers in the world. True, that we didn't have him at that point, and true that we might never have him repeat that. He's been in bad form for some time, but he is still under 30, and to call him sh*t is just... well sh*t!

have you spent the last 2 years in hibernation?

yes, that worked out so well this season.

As I said - I think the hugely distracting managerial situation was extremely damaging to our league position this year.  Before it all kicked off, we were challenging for the title.

Whilst we did have trouble getting strikers scoring goals on a regular basis - we did finish with the 2nd highest goals scored total in the league - which isn't that bad.  I see our defending as more of an issue this season - our organisation has been at times (especially whilst Terry was out) appauling.  I tihnk that if Mourinho comes in, this current group of players will have no difficulty whatsoever challenging for the title.

I know that we're all a little bit spoilt and used to huge amounts of success now - but last year was quite clearly a transitional year, with a whole of young new players (Hazard, 22, Oscar 21, Dave 23, Moses 22, Bertrand 23) coming into the team, or even the league for the first time.  The players out there weren't the issue, the management and mental state of them is an entirely different issue.

Reported in the papers today that Napoli want both him and Rafa.

I hope they're getting the money ready - because I can't see Torres accepting a contract at 1/3 of his current salary (which I'm sure we'd all say is about fair market value).

Maybe it's my fault that I became a fan in the '90s, before the big money started coming in and before we started firing managers after half-a-season, so I have a different set of values, who knows...

I personally reckon we'll try and sell him but he'll refuse to go anywhere.

For an obvious Torres fan I would say you are certainly a pessimist about him!  Don't be afraid to have some optimism and faith in the lad.

I'll say it...i like the guy and think he should stay another season!

oh im sorry. i thought we were talking about a 50 MILLION POUND striker who's getting paid 175 000 PER WEEK, but i guess i was wrong

Oh i'm a huge fan of the guy. I was really happy we were signing him but given my family are mostly Liverpool fans u can see the situation i'm in given he looks nothing like the player he was with them.

Also, i find it irritating that he assumes we're all d**kheads. When he is asked about staying on with us he always says 'well i have three years left on my contract' when i really wish he would just say that he wants to stay cos he wants more big trophies. It's clearly nothing to DO with having a contract and everything to do with whether things are going his way. He wasn't talking about his contract when he was whinging after the CL win and he wasn't talking about it when he walked out on Liverpool for us when he had three years left there.

Simply put, i am a big fan of his, but he can be quite devious and dishonest.

I believe he ll be really good for us next season ....Hopefully the new manager will bring in a couple of faces that can slightly change the way we play and hey presto......Goals goals goals

You're losing me... I don't know what that has to do with anything that I've been saying so far? Does it have to do with me saying I never wanted him in the first place, but now that he is here I'd give him more time before I go and spend another 50 million on another striker? That buying and selling players and managers every few months has become our idea of good business, and that that's something I wasn't used to before? Because that is all I said, plus adding that a man that has reached greatness at one point can never be called sh*t, be it Torres who's 29, or Best who is dead.

Give him more time? We signed him in January 2011 and in that time hasn't been world class once.

You can ignore his wages and the price we paid for him. The bottom line is that he isn't even close to good enough for us. I don't care if he used to be the best player who ever lived. He isn't good enough and none of his performances have indicated that he ever will be. I honestly don't know how much evidence you need before you can see it.
