Torres's goals this season:

Yellow = Goals impacting the result.

Green = High Quality Opposition.

He has scored 8 EPL goals this season, only 2 coming against teams in the top half.

He has made 13 appearances off the bench this season for Chelsea, not scoring one goal.

Of his 23 goals for Chelsea this season, only 7 have altered the result.

Of his 23 goals this season, only 9 have come since Christmas (Ba signing probably also impacted this).

Of the 23 goals, only 5 have come against teams to be considered (by me) as high quality opposition.

He has appeared in 30 games we have either lost or drawn this season, only scoring in two of these games. One being the Community Shield, the other being a EL loss to Rubin where we progressed anyway.

I'll let people make their own interpretations of these facts, and obviously goals alone don't take into account his contribution to the match as a whole.

I'm just bored and felt like doing something.

I think goals "contributing to the outcome of the result" is open to debate.

Villa at home for example he scored the opening goal and got the ball rolling, he arguably opened the proverbial floodgates.

He's been "ok" this season in my eyes but overall the contribution for me still isn't good enough to justify leading the line...

His form has undeniably picked up in the second half of the season (even though he scored more in the first)

I think people are forgetting how much football he played before Christmas, probably more than any other player in Europe. He was effectively our only striker. It's no coincidence his form has picked up since he's had someone to share the workload with.

I'm not saying he's good enough to be our main striker, in fact I think we should and will move him on but all things considered I think he's had a decent season while finishing on the up.

I think Torres has one more season left in him, he has improved so much this season, and if anyone can bring the best out in a player - Its Jose Mourihno. I would not be surprised if we don't buy a big striker this season, and stick with Torres/Lukaku/Ba. I would not be overly upset about this.

My opinion based partly off my above post, and partly on watching every game he has played this season, is that he has barely improved. He continues to show a few glimpses of quality but for the majority of the season he is anonymous, making his dead end runs to the corner while Mata or Hazard are shrugging off 3 defenders looking for a through ball to play.

If we have to keep him on next season he shouldn't be near first choice again, Lukaku should be given his chance.

I can see chelsea keeping him on for another year.

Buy a lead striker - Cavani, bring lukaku back from loan and keep nando for another year.

Ba can leave or stay.

Although latest rumours are pointing towards both cavani and schurrle making their way to the club and if that proves to be true we could give lukaku another year out on loan or sell nando and keep lukaku and ba

I would.

None of these players are good enough to help us challenge for the league/CL. Good players, can bag a few goals between them, but nowhere near world class.

I say we keep Torres but we need another big signing. Falcao, Cavani or Lewandowski.

Does anyone really feel that the club will sell Ba though considering we have only just bought him? I like Ba but like most people don't think he is not top notch and always seems to fade in second half of the season (at Newcaslte and Chelsea).

To be fair at Newcastle, the reason why he faded in the second half of the season is because Pardew played him outwide so Cisse could be the lone striker due to his incredible goalscoring form at the time.

We probably won't sell him but for me personally I would like to see the club consider it, he was bought for £7m and you could easily recoup that fee, he was a quick fix to Sturridge being sold to Liverpool because all we had to do was activate the release clause in his contract.

I would prefer to see Lukaku return to the club and see Ba sold because I haven't seen anything in Ba to suggest he is a better option than Lukaku who you could argue has more attributes to his game.

If we were to sell Ba you could sign a new forward and have Lukaku return then you have 3 players competing to start up front and that level of competition is healthy in my eyes. It would be much easier to sell Ba than Torres.

Torres is capable of being a squad player, but his wages alone make that situation unrealistic.

That's why I want him to move. But it's the same reason he probably won't be able to.

With the exception that Ashley fired an air rifle and he did hit (or at least wound) one of the kids.

Two important distinctions there. Take note Davey and try and be more accurate in future.

This is not even off topic. The pain and agony seeing Torres miss a sitter feels about the same as seeing Ashley Cole wounding a small child with an air rifle, I imagine.

Torres just won most improved player of the season

ha. The award reserved for the worst player on the team to feel about themselves in school sports divisions. Does Chelsea really have such an award?

The problem with getting rid of him is that he is on a 3 year contract on, what,  £150k a week ?

Unless he finds club willing to pay the same he won't want to go anywhere regardless of the fact we might want to sell him.  No club is going to want to pay £20m for him AND spend the same again on 3 years wages for someone who is so clearly lacking in his role (at least thats what the stats say)

I think he'll stay for one more year at least - we've already lost £30m on the guy, we may as well keep him a bit longer. Especially as he is showing glimners of his old self.

I wanted him out in January but , as I am an eternal optimist, think he could come good for us.

The best thing we could have done is include him in a deal for Falcao. I think Torres would have taken a wage drop to go back to the club he supports BUT it seems we've lost out on Falcao.

That is what I hoped would happen, especially now Atleti is in the CL. Torres would be their main striker.

£30m + Torres for Falcao, I thought would be a fair deal, taking into account his massive wages.
