Torres was undoubtedly our most significant player in the Europa, but it doesn't change my view of him. He's still nowhere near good enough to lead the line for us to challenge for the Title, CL etc. Still needs to move on in the summer.

However, at least he's now done something positive for us. £50 million still wasted for the most part but at least there's now a measure of return on the investment.

Yeah that's exactly how I feel, good that he finished on a high but it's time for him to go

Finishing the season very well.

A part of me thinks it's because the weight has been lifted off his shoulders because he knows he's on the way out in the summer.

Really? I don't see us offloading him. Not because we don't want we just can't. Who'd buy him, pay his massive wages?

He's improved later on and i hope he continues with the current confidence.

I can see him going out on loan

Not bloody likely. He'll still be with us next season, but if we get Cavani or someone of that ilk, Torres will simply be our second choice striker.

Yep, lovely that a player who has a history of making disruptive comments whenever things are going his way being our second choice striker. It's going to work out very well by all accounts

Innit. But I'm sure Mou will weave his magic and everything will work out fine...

I think he'd be third choice if we get Mourinho back. Behind whoever we get and Ba.

Ba are you having a laugh, Jose won't keep Ba around, nowhere near good enough!

I think we'll have a whole new strike force next season.

Falcao, Torres, Ba, Lukaku.

If we have these four as strikers next season we can conquer anyone IMO.

Torres has shown in the EL, he can produce from time to time, Ba has impressed in the Prem and Lukaku's been on fire for Clarkie. So if Falcao comes in, we're in business I reckon.

Of course the fact our preferred formation is one striker complicates matters, but I'd like to think we can be flexible tactically under Jose and use a variety of formations/setups.

His last 3 months he has got better and better, even when he hasn't scored he has played well, i cannot believe he hasn't scored in the premier league in 2013, his play has deserved more.

It will be interesting to see were he goes from here, will Jose keep the faith ? will the confidence from the europa final mean he is back to his best ?

Not trying to have a dig at you mate but for someone who has been incredibly patient with Torres, you sure are quick to write Ba off.

I don't think Ba is ever going to be good enough to be our first choice striker but I don't see the problem at all in having him play second fiddle to a marquee signing next season, considering he improves of course, which I expect him to.

Looks like that rules him out of the running for players that read the shed end.......

Let's hope he doesn't have a bit of time to kill one day, stumbling across this thread.

When he's finished 7 hours later, he'll probably cry himself to sleep

I think you will be bitterly disappointed then.

I'm sure we'll have Torres, Ba and one of the world class strikers we've been talking about. Lukaku is going on loan in that case. If we buy Schurrle we have also him as backup striker.

Torres isn't going anywhere this summer, last thing we want to do is offloading strikers when we are short already, Torres, Ba, Cavani and schurrle who could play there if needed, Lukaku will be out on loan if you believe his own words.

Why is everyone so quick to loan Lukaku out..he isn't a bad player at all..

He's claimed to say that himself and there is a strong rumour of him going to Swansea on loan.

Your choices are: buy a world class striker to accompany Torres&Ba OR trust Lukaku to bring the extra goals needed. What do you think the club will do?

No sense in having 3 lads before him in the pecking order.

I didn't get excited about the prospect of having Ba here before we signed him.

Playing for the barcodes brings nowhere near the same pressure as playing for Chelsea, a point I've made so many times when people bring up strikers playing for lower table clubs and going on about their scoring records.

Darren Bent and Demba Ba are prime examples of players doing well at lower clubs but then finding the pressure too much when they have stepped up a level, to a very large extent the same could be said of Torres.

The odd spectacular goal does not make a great striker.

Ba has done enough to deserve a crack at being back up next season in my opinion. He has shown glimpses and I'm sure with a whole pre season behind him he will do well next year.

For footballing reasons alone, never mind financial reasons, having a strikeforce of a big new arrival, Torres and Ba is going to be nigh on impossible.

There is no point in keeping Torres and his salary at the club if he's to be the 2nd or 3rd choice. We'd be better off moving him on even if we need to subsidise his wages.

It's difficult enough, bordering on impossible to keep 3 strikers happy when your preferred formation is 4-2-3-1 no matter the personnel let alone somebody as mentally fragile as Nando.

If we're signing a top striker (looks almost certain) I just don't see it being possible or viable for him to stay.
