First time in a long time he put himself in that sort of position and had a go at the defender. Well done, that's 1 trophy he realy earned it himself. Great throw out by Cech, saved us 25 side way passes and got the goal before the defenders could blink

I think he is just an enigma, no one will sort out, he played well tonight, some of his runs and linkup play were superb, probably not enough for Davey, btw where is he tonight....

He suits a very direct style of play where he can use his pace to break away from defenders. That ball went from goalkeeper to torres with two touches. It's why he was so prolific with xabi alonso and gerrard supplying him with those sort of balls regularly

I'm sure he will be on tommorrow to enlighten us all on how poor benfica are and how little anyone cares about this trophy.

Torres did everything he could do tonight. Fought for every ball, held it up well and and his goal was class.

Well done Nando! We couldn't have done it without you!

Next season will be his season.........................

I think I caught the Liverpool bug

I recommend you watch much more Chelsea in your future. Subscribe to Chelsea TV if need be. It's the only thing that has been known to cure that horrid bug.

But if you start talking about "'istory", it has progressed and there may be no return for you.

Well done to Nando tonight. I've done my best to stay out of this thread but he certainly deserves an applause for tonight. That goal also reminded me of his Barca goal.

Torres will play lot less next season. We'll buy a big name striker for sure and he'll fall down the pecking order. If we get 20+ goals from him next season as well he's done a great job.

I was about to post an angry spill to all the Torres-haters well before the game but somehow iPhone failed me and didn't have time to write it all over again. But now we are cup winners with the help of great Torres goal so I don't really have to.

Wasn't anything myself or many of here haven't posted here before...

I don't mind having Torres here as a back up. He won't leave thats for sure.

Ba, Torres and Lewandowski/Cavnani as I believe Lukaku will be out on loan again.

21 goals now isnt it? if he can start producing in the league as well its just a bonus for us next season.

Well played yesterday Fernando.

I'm sure he will be on tommorrow to enlighten us all on how poor benfica are and how little anyone cares about this trophy.

Didn't expect much less than the huge over reaction by the fangirlys to one goal and a good performance. Listen very carefully:

1st half he did well but didn't see much of the ball. 2nd half he played very well. He took the goal better than any other he has scored for us and a vitally important goal it was too.

Does it mean the past two and half years never happened? Were they a dream? Is he suddenly going to be as good and score as many goals as Levendowski ? Falcao? Suarez? RVP or even Sturridge? No, of course not. Last night changes not a single thing.  He is not good enough, not consistent enough, to be our starting centre-forward.

Right now would be an ideal time for the club to do a hard sell on him. There might be someone willing to take him off our hands. We may just recoup a little of the massive sum we paid for him.

Oh, lastly, to some of those who think Torres is the only one who gets over the top criticism bordering on victimisation, take a look at some of the things you posted about Ramires on last night's match thread. Pot, kettle and black I think.

Just, glad you posted that. No Torresfangirls in the forum as far as I'm concerned. Haven't seen any. But what I've seen is bitter fans who can't get past the fact Torres is the biggest flop in Chelsea history.

As I said that is a fact no one can or will deny here or anywhere else. Veron, Sheva, Sutton all bargains compared to Nando.

Don't ride the bitter-lane Just. I enjoy your posts very much and the debating but I smell bitterness here.

We want to see him gone as it would be best for the man and the club but this is a mistake we have to live with so lets make the best of it. Agree?

Where are the fangirls over reaction? if being happy for OUR player playing a huge part in us winning the competition is fangirling then ok...

Where exactly are these fangirl over reactions, care to point them out? Because all I see is people congratulating him on an excellent goal, which it was.

Torres is obviously a European player, in England he doesn't get the space.

If we got a couple of powerful strikers for the league I don't care if he is used for some European nights, maybe he has a future in those competitions, but not the league.

Don't see a problem myself having a 20+ goals scoring squad player when the likes of Cavani etc arrive. He's indeed a much better player out in Europe.

Dare I say it, he was our player of the tournament.

Superb goal return in the Europa League and a very classy finish last night

His league goal tally this season still isn't good enough but a massive well done to him for last night.
