Im not so sure. Jimmy's wages were affordable by other teams at the time. There are only a select group of teams that can afford his wages and because they can afford his wages they will go and get a striker better than Torres.

That's why I said we may have to supplement his wages.

I've no doubt he will be told by Jose he's not in his plans and we will be accepting offers for him, and there will be offers

It's then up to Torres if he decides to rot but I think he'll choose to move.

I don't think Spain have a lot of options in terms of strikers anyway.

They've only selected 3 strikers but about 12 midfielders.

They have Llorente, Negredo and Soldado. All three would be better than Torres.

Not only Torres, Villa hasn't exactly had a good season after all his injuries and playing on the wing to allow Messi to play up top.

Our real hope is that next summer is the world cup and you would think at his age he would still have hopes of playing in it.

If he doesnt agree a move then he would have to do a Malouda and train with the kids which would end even the slightest bit of hope he had going to the world cup.

I wouldnt be shocked if Roman demands Torres stays and Jose comes out and says that he wants Torres to stay and hopes to get the best out of his etc. We will all know its crap but there you go.

I might be wrong on this, as I don't watch too much La Liga. But, hasn't Llorente had hardly any game time since confirming his move to Juve?

Spain wont pick a striker who isn't playing

Don't buy that and I fully expect Torres to be off.

People forget Hasselbaink. He had at least a year left on his contract when Jose turned up and he was on good money. Okay, not as much as Torres but he was on very good money for the time. Part of the reason we were in so much financial trouble when Bates sold was the fact we were paying top dollar for players and living beyond our means.

Anyway, Jose turned up and got Jimmy off the books immediately, selling him to Boro. Jimmy didn't even get a training session even though he subsequently came out and said he wished he had. Jose simply got him in his office and said he wasn't going to play him and he would help him secure a move. He will do the same with Torres.

Sure, Torres can sit out the next 2 years and rot but he won't want to do that and Jose won't let him anywhere near a training session if he doesn't want him. We may have to supplement his wages but I'm convinced he's played his last game for Chelsea.

If so, he went out on a high, which is good, but let's face it, he's nowhere near good enough for us and we all know it, and you can bet your bottom dollar Jose knows it too.

He's off folks. I promise you.

Even if Jose doesn't want him, Roman does. Roman always has. He paid 50 million for the guy and had been after him for the best part of 7 years before he landed him.

It'll take some mega special offer to make the Russian part with his Spaniard.

I agree with Davey, Torres isn't silly once he is told he's not part of the plans he'll be off.

He will desperately want to be part of Spains world cup squad and for that he will need to be playing.

If Jose does want him to stay, and startss to get him playing well, then he would truly be the special one!

Torres makes the cut and is picked for Confederation's cup squad. Congrats Torres!

Alonso was left out surprisingly.

Also Matador and Dave makes the team! Brilliant for the lads.

Torres had to be one of the main discussions between Mourinho, Abramovich and his people. If Torres is sold or sparingly used then I'm sure the decision was up to Mourinho to make. Torres may have been a favourite of Abramovich but I don't think he'll jeopardize the chance of the club winning trophies by forcing Torres onto another manager.

What you mean that after forcing him on 5 managers Roman will have learnt his lesson? You have more faith than me.

5?!? Is that right?? Carlo, AVB, Robbie and Interim...jose would be 5th. Incredible.

Was he forced on Ancelotti though? Wasn't there an article where Wilkins said Ancelotti was the one who wanted Torres? Or was it Luiz?

If only Roman waited 6 months and bought Falcao like AVB wanted, things may have been different.

Ancelotti wanted Torres in the summer of the WC, not when he was already out of form in January 2011. I'm sure there was a pressure on Carlo to change his system so that Torres was integrated into it somehow.

The whole Torres thing reminded me so much of Sheva. Bought for massive money, not wanted by the manager at the time. The owners choice and then forced upon the manager.

Owners shouldnt buy players. Leave it to the manager to pick who he needs.

I guess it depends how much Roman thinks Torres actually improved last season.

No doubt getting the best out of Torres was one of the FSW's main selling points when he weaseled his way into the job in the first place and whilst Torres did have his best season in a Chelsea shirt last year (the bar set about as low as it could possiblt be) it still came up well short of what he would needed to have done to prove he can be our main striker nest season.

Chelsea fans know that, Jose will know that and I can only imagine he would spell that out in the interview process to Roman.  I just hope Roman is willing to cut his losses a bit and move on.

It is the perfect time to sell Torres in my opinion- he bagged 22 goals last season, went out with a bang scoring a goal in the Europa League final, he can leave with a bit of self respect restored and having left on a high note. His value is probably higher now than it has been in the last 2 years- this is the chance to try and get some of that £50M back.

I can't see Jose wanting Torres next season I'd imagine he'd be behind Lukaku and Ba in this plans as well as any potential transfer targets.

As he scored over 20 goals last season I'd imagine we could con another club into taking him for a decent portion of the fee we payed which is probably the best we can hope for.

It looks like he'll be here for the duration of his contract. On SSN it said he said he has no intention of leaving and is looking forward to working with Jose, he'll see out the five and a half years.

I like that he wants to stay, but again with the s**t about honouring his contract. It's cos of the money he's on and the fact we win trophies, it's nothing to do with his contract. He had one at Liverpool he didn't honour so it's all a bit awkward.
