Attacked by the press - Yet again...

I hate the Daily Mail, they can't learn to leave alone. Whenever we hit a slump they are there to try and stir up trouble. The latest in a line of Chelsea hate campaign articles;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2234917/Roberto-Di-Matteo-fighting-job-Petr-Cech-involved-dressing-room-bust-up.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

I higly doubt this bust up took place and don't really think Di Matteos job is under any kind of danger.

It was on SSN this morning as well, but I doubt it. RDMs job is probably fine, most likely he was just honest with the players and gave them a Pep talk for Turin. Because there is no denying that the display against West Brom was poor.

If we ignore the Mail's customary sh*t-stirring headline, what this non-story effectively boils down to is "raised voices overheard in Chelsea dressing room after league defeat to West Brom", like that is somehow unusual in a football dressing room. I'd be much more concerned if there weren't raised voices after the display on Saturday.

I listened to Talksport driving into work this morning and John Cross of the The Mirror confirmed the dressing room row without giving any details i.e player/manager or player/player. He did, however, say that RDM was under pressure due to Roman's usual knee jerk reaction to the recent run of games. How he had this "information" he didn't divulge but he told us something we probably already knew; that Guardiola has always been Abramovich's first choice.

Lastly, he commented that for Roman to even be considering getting rid of a manager who won the CL and is only 4 points off the top of the EPL is madness.

I agree.

a ) confirmed without giving any details is as good as making stuff up. Which is probably what he did. How can you confirm something without proving you aren't talking bollocks?

b ) 'we probably already knew', exactly. If I regurgitate the same rumours that have been around for months would I be a good journalist? Apparently so.

This is basically the exact post I was going to write so you svaed me some time.

I would expect and hope that their were raised voices after the defeat at WBA- as a team I think they need a bit of a kick up the arse and it should be a wake up call for RDM in terms of picking his starting 11. I don't think he was at fault but he really needs to have a long hard think about his best starting 11 for Tuesday and not let anything get in the way of that.

When Taggart shouts it is called the 'hairdryer treatment' and the press cream themselves with excitement about his no nonsense management technique, when a Chelsea Manager does it they label it a dressing room bust up.

Being a sports writer is the easiest job in the world, make up any old bollocks, claim you cant say where you heard it and then sit back and wait your colleagues praise and approval. What a load of sh*te.

According to the Daily Mail? Honestly after all the utter tripe that's been concocted by the likes of Neil Ashton who bloody cares.

Looking at the Sky Report, the actual quotes from David Luiz paint a very different picture to that which the Mail would have you believe. The quotes from David Luiz portray a team disappointed and angry at their own performance and with the result, shows that the players care passionately, and is a million miles away from the tales of "dressing room unrest" fabricated by the Daily Mail.

Here's the full Sky article, complete with quotes:

David Luiz admits Chelsea were upset and angry after West Brom defeat

David Luiz admits there were 'raised voices' in the Chelsea dressing room following the defeat at West Bromwich Albion, but is now focusing on the game with Juventus.

Chelsea's 2-1 reverse at The Hawthorns extended their run without a win in the Premier League to four games and led to reports of a dressing room row.

Luiz acknowledged that the players were angry after the game, but downplayed the significance of the incident amid reports the pressure is growing on manager Roberto Di Matteo.

"The dressing-room reaction after the game was that we were upset and angry," the 25-year-old said ahead of Tuesday's crucial Champions League tie with Juventus. "We were disappointed because we should have won the game.

"The dressing-room reaction after the game was that we were upset and angry. There were raised voices but that is normal."

David Luiz Quotes of the week

"There were raised voices but that is normal. This is a big club and we don't like to lose games.

"We missed the moment but all we can do now is look ahead to the next game.

"What's past is past and the future is Juventus. It will be difficult and Juventus are a great team. They are just one point behind us. This is the most important game in the group."

Luiz is aware Chelsea have to get the balance right between challenging for the Premier League title and striving to retain the Champions League.

He said: "It's not good at the moment as we started the season at the top of the league, but all the big teams have come to West Brom and it's not been easy for them.

"West Brom have a good philosophy and a great coach (Steve Clarke) but we are disappointed, because Chelsea want to be top of the table always.

"In the Champions League we have a great opportunity to qualify even though Juventus and Shakhtar (Donetsk) are both great teams.

"But we will never forget how important the Premier League is. There is a bit of a gap at the top and we don't want to get too far behind the other teams."

I'd want there to be raised voices after that performance really.

If this was Man U the press would all be praising the "hair dryer" approach.

Non-story.

As for RDM being in trouble, rubbish. Everyone knows we've two problems - without Terry our defence isn't good enough and we've no strikers who can be clinical in front of goal (one who doesn't take shots, the other who seemingly only shoots straight in front of him).

3 points in the champions league and a draw or win on Saturday and suddenly pundits will start praising him again. Admittedly at the moment that seems unlikely but I'd see a win and a draw as good outcome and a two draws as being reasonable.

Regardless of the problems we have with 1 or even 2 players we still have the quality to be winning games. Therein lies the problem for RDM he does not appear to have the where with all to change the flow of a game. The Moses sub aside.

At the fleet street christmas party last year, there were lots of journos coming out of the toilets with white powder on their noses. Also one famous journo said another one smelled and he didn't want to sit next to him at dinner..

I just made that up btw, but I could have claimed that a source "close to fleet street" told me...In short I would make a great sports journalist..!

The nonce that they had on SSN covering the back pages led in with the two Chelsea stories, first the "bust up" then RDM in the hot seat.

he then used the word "allegedly" a number of times, and closed with some journo saying about "old news is good news." So he pretty much admitted, whilst still trying to grab attention, that all the rows in the dressing room were "alleged" to ahve been heard by members of teh press, and that the Pep argument is an old story, therefore a good one?

What a load of bollocks

That is a lie, that is the truth.

The same John Cross who lovingly follows Le Arse??

Ignore them for long enough, and they go away...

who cares

I read it all with a pinch of salt

if the team lose in Turin and to City RDM may well be in a difficult position with his boss

if they win both games maybe not, its up to the players to get their sh*t together and paly how we know they can

thats football and life in general ...........

If Martin Samuel or Henry Winter were reporting this as fact I might believe it but Daily Mail & a gooner supporting Mirror journo on Brazil & Irrani-irritating show are as about as reliable as each other.
