November 21, 201213 yr How have we got this far without this being posted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FedS8T9hBS8
November 21, 201213 yr Di Matteo was one of the greatest things to happen to this club. The "Miracle Run" of 2012 will forever go down in sporting and soccer history. Truly a great moment, one that was uniquely Chelsea in all aspects. Edited November 21, 201213 yr by PraetorianGuard
November 21, 201213 yr All the other posts sum up what I would have to say, thank you Robbie for some great moments and an extra big thankyou for making me lose my voice several times... Missed already, true legend!
November 21, 201213 yr I'm actually disguested at this treatment.... i have never been so lost with the club. Gullit was a kick in the balls, Jose was a stab in the heart for me... but this feels like a complete disconcent with the club... this sacking is insane and at the moment I don't feel I can tune in this weekend to support the club. It's so tough for me.. it has always been through hell or high water but this is somthing else. I would rather be rock bottom of the 2nd devtion then have that fat c**t replace one of our greatest like this
November 21, 201213 yr Great thread bluenut, and I agree entirely with your post. He was magnificent under fire while managing our club and will forever have our thanks.
November 22, 201213 yr Gem, it's time to get the cardboard and the old Pritt Stick out. I do believe Robbie deserves a card.
November 22, 201213 yr Legend, was so sad reading his statement, pure class and not one bad word to say even though he has everyright to feel aggrieved. Wish him all the best as a manager and would have him back without a doubt in the future under different ownership...
November 22, 201213 yr From the statement he issued through the League Managers Association: "It was an honour for me to be appointed manager of a club that I loved playing for and one that is so close to my heart. I am extremely proud of the successes and trophies that we were able to bring to the club in recent months. "Lifting Chelsea's first Champions League trophy, in Munich, was the best achievement in club history and without doubt the highlight of my career to date, both as a player and manager. It is a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life. "I have a deep and unreserved passion for Chelsea Football Club and I would like to sincerely thank all of the staff, my players and of course the Chelsea fans, for their tremendous and unconditioned support in the intense time I have been the manager at the Bridge. I wish all of them every success for the rest of the season and beyond." What an amazing person. There really is only one Di Matteo. My bad, didn't realise it was posted in the other thread sorry. November 22, 201213 yr I'm sick to the pit of my stomach. Robbie is more of a Chelsea man than the muppets who run our club. LEGEND. Fu*k Benitez & those who appointed him. They should be ashamed of themselves. Good luck Robbie, you deserve it.
November 22, 201213 yr Maybe if Gem ever gets some free time (I don't want to volunteer you if you're busy) we can put together a going-away card for Robbie. I hope he knows how the fans are taking the news.
November 22, 201213 yr A Chelsea hero both on and off the pitch, and one of the most humble, classy managers we've had in Roman's era. Treated unfairly, but taking it like the gentleman he is. Best of luck in your future endeavours.
November 22, 201213 yr A real class act, was always cool, calm and composed no matter what the situation was and he was a fantastic ambassador for the club. He may have been fired but he can walk out with his head held very high. True Chelsea legend and someone that we as fans should be very, very proud of
November 22, 201213 yr Felt gutted for RDM when injury finished his career but this makes me angry! probably because i liked him as a player and even more as a manager! won the FA cup as player and manager, legend.
November 22, 201213 yr Hello all, I haven't posted for a while. I thought I'd start a seperate thread to show a bit of appreciation for the man who delivered the first Champions Leauge or European cup to the capital, not just Chelsea, but we became the first club in London to win it, and he became the first manager to win it for a London club, which is an achievement in itself! I'd also like to thank Robbie for one of the greatest days of my life, for his goal in the first FA cup final victory in my life-time, and the first major trophy I'd ever seen us win after years in oblivion. The trophy that started the long journey to where we are now - without that win against Middlesborough, who know's where we'd be now?? (Just look a Boro!) He scored another winner against Villa a few years later, to seal his fate in the record books, but his career was unfortunatley cut short due to a horrific injury sustained while wearing the Chelsea blue! He was kept on by the club, not in a professional role, but was allowed to carry on using the training facilities and would take training sessions with the youth team to educate our youngsters out of his own time. Returning as assistant to AVB, he took over leadership of a wrangled dressing room as caretaker, with a mandate to galvanise the group to get us over the finish line. In doing this he also took us to another cup final and won it! Robbie also superceeded all expectations, getting us through an alomost impossible position by qualifying for the next round of the Champions league, and getting us not only to the final but winning it against all odds, beating arguably the best club side in the world with 10 men, then beating the Germans in their own stadium, which was effectively an away game. He may have not been the greatest manager in the world or even the best manager who has tried to bring the cup back to the capital, but he was ours, our Robbie, and he may have rode the luck of the gods, but he brought that group of players together and he did it!! Many have tried and failed! For all the memories, days out, great nights and crazy emotional moments RDM has given me over my Chelsea supporting life-time (not just the past 6 month) I'd just like to take my hat off to a man who is nothing more than a Chelsea legend. Thanks Robbhie - you're one of us and always will be!!
November 22, 201213 yr Big thank you Mr D, you've done more for the club and its fans both on and off the pitch than you can imagine. Legendary.
November 22, 201213 yr Thanks for the memories Robbie. You are an iconic part of this club, from the goal celebration with you, Jody Morris, Le Bouef etc all lying down, to the goal in the FA cup final, to the way you dedicated that goal to your blind sister, to the sad way your career as a player ended, to the way you came back to lead us to champ league glory...you will always have a special place in my heart. Good luck in the future, hope you find hapiness in the game and away from it. All the best NNNJ
November 22, 201213 yr Lets hope his name is sung out loud Sunday. No manager deserves this, let alone a manager who brought us one of our greatest achievements. Disgusting treatment of a legend by the club. Thank you Robbie for bringing so many highs and this low moment will never cloud those high moments! Legend
November 22, 201213 yr Great post Bluenut! Cant beleive the way we have treated him but to us fans he will always be loved and a "LEGEND" and we all will wish him well in what ever he does!!
November 22, 201213 yr Yes. Thank you so much for what you have done for this club Robbie. You turned one of our darkest hours in recent times into one of our most glorious. Only a legend could have done that. We will always treasure your masterful tactics at the Camp Nou, or the ultimate lifting of the trophy we all wanted so badly at Munich. In the end, at least you have left the club with your head held high, held in esteem by almost everybody at Chelsea FC except a heartless, ruthless board who clearly have no feeling for the club's fans or its history. Hopefully we can see lead a team to glory in another country in the future. Your future as manager is gilt-edged.
November 22, 201213 yr I have been so tied up with posting in other threads I have neglected to come in this and pay my respects to a genuine Chelsea Legend. Robbie, from the FA Cup win in '97 to lifting the Cup with the Big Ears in Munich. You were a genuine world class midfielder as a player and as our manager you took us to the pinnacle of success. No Roman sacking has hurt me this much since Jose was booted out. In fact this one has possibly hurt me even more because you were, are and always will be one of us.
November 22, 201213 yr Robbie you deserve a longer post than this but it as all been said in this thread already.(well done lads) .. You are up there with Ossie, Drogs, Zola Lamps JT ...... Legend !
