Thank You Robbie

Robbie, thanks for everything you've given us as a player and as a manager. You took a squad of players disjointed and formed us back into a team. With that team, you navigated us to another FA cup (and on my birthday no less, thanks for that) triumph. Finally you delivered, when everyone else was against us, our first CL trophy and one of our greatest nights as a club.

Champions of Europe, thanks to you.

05/05/12 and 19/05/12. These dates will be etched in our history books with your name as the man who led us there. We will never forget. All the best in the future. You truly are a CFC legend. Just remember that no matter where you go and what you do...

Blue is the colour.

Thanks Robbie for everything you have done for our club. You were fantastic as a player and cool and classy as a manager.

To turn around a season that was looking like a disaster into one that no true Chelsea fan will ever forget and one that will be forever etched into our history.

You can leave with your head held high.

Thanks for the goals, thanks for the trophies, thanks for making us Champions of Europe!

How fitting that the man who kicked off this amazing run of success we've had with that goal at Wembley 15 years ago was the one who capped it all off by leading us to our first European Cup (and that the other goalscorer that day was his assistant). My only regret is that he was treated so shabbily at the end. A class act on and off the pitch, a legend as a player, a legend as a manager and not many can say that. I wish him all the best for the future.

I have been so tied up with posting in other threads I have neglected to come in this and pay my respects to a genuine Chelsea Legend.

Robbie, from the FA Cup win in '97 to lifting the Cup with the Big Ears in Munich. You were a genuine world class midfielder as a player and as our manager you took us to the pinnacle of success. No Roman sacking has hurt me this much since Jose was booted out. In fact this one has possibly hurt me even more because you were, are and always will be one of us.

Oh Roberto, great player.

World class midfielder, world class manager, world class human being. Jobs come and go, but nothing can change the fact that Robbie was the man at the helm when we lifted our first Champions League trophy. You turned our season around and your impact will be felt for years and years. Thanks for everything that you accomplished in your time here that was sadly cut short and best of luck in the future. No matter where your career takes you, you will always be one of us. God bless.

Robbie what can I say that hasn't already been said?

You were an outstanding player for us, and scored that goal that saw us win our first major trophy in years!

You steadied a very sinking ship last season and then performed the unbelievable by leading us to Champions League glory!

But above all of this, you are a decent bloke, someone we were all proud to say was 'OUR' manager!

Good luck, and if by any chance I ever get to meet you, please let me buy you a drink, you deserve it!

Probaly this, given the choice between Guardiola, Mourinho and Di Matteo I would still take Di Matteo.

If any of the current board of CFC want to see what Robbie means and why there has been the reaction to his sacking then go to the Megastore, get a copy of the 97 Cup Final and watch that first minute. True legend. Good luck Robbie. Looking forward to cheering you back at the Bridge one day.

Well said.

Robbie brought home the bacon. I don't think I'll ever forgive the board for this sacking, and they've made some ridiculous decisions before. He did the best he could with what he had and I hope he goes on to secure a great job at a club that deserves his services.

Ironically THAT goal, was 15 years ago, and was the start of the most successful 15 years in the clubs history, coming full cirle with a Eurpoean Champions League win, with Robbie at the helm, finishing off what he started.

ONE DI MATTEO, THERE'S ONLY ONE DI MATTEO

Great post Bluenut and I echo every sentiment.

One other thing about RDM that not a lot of people know : when his career was finished at Chelsea as per his contract they had an obligation to pay him for the remainder of his contract. At that time we were in a financial mess and Bates asked Robbie if he would accept club shares to the value instead.. He didn't have to accept but he did and then a year or so later when RA arrived he did of course buy up everyone's shares offering a profit. Therefore making a nice big earner for Robbie. I read that Bates ( not known for his nice caring sentiments ) said 'it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy'.

Robbie, you are welcome back to Stamford Bridge at anytime. I hope tonight you are going to Piccolinos in Leamington Spa as you always do and you sit and reflect on what you did for us with a nice brandy and a cigar.

Thanks for absolutely everything.

Wanted to quote this because a story like that says it all about the man.

Thank god for Robbie Di Matteo.
