Sunderland v Chelsea (PL) 8/12/2012 KO 15:00 GMT

Featured Replies

Important game for us. If we lose to Sunderland, then the club is in serious trouble to be honest. Hopefully we can continue from last night's performance going into this match.

I have a bad feeling that Martin O'Neill's going make this match very lacklustre and boring. Sunderland will be desperate for points however considering they're near the relegation zone.

It looks like we are set to see Frank Lampard, John Terry and Daniel Sturridge returning to the squad this weekend. At least this will provide us with more options during the match. Thank god Terry may return because we've lacked on-field leadership without him.

Sunderland have a few players missing such as Steven Fletcher who is Sunderland's best striker, and they'll be also missing John O'Shea and Wes Brown in their defence. Frankly there shouldn't be any excuse. Sunderland won't be easy to beat, but I expect us to edge this one. I'm predicting 2-1 Chelsea

Let's see if me starting this thread will bring Chelsea the good luck charm and they end up winning the match.  :Chelseaoldbadge:

If they're missing Fletcher they really have close to no attacking options, so I hope we really come at them and pile on the pressure with a direct game like we did yesterday in the CL. I'll be interested to see if he chooses to bench Oscar again who has been left out the last 2 games in a row for Moses, or whether he chooses to play all 3 of mazacar, or whether he chooses to rest Hazard who played the full 90 yesterday.

Team i'd choose:

Cech

Cesar Terry Cahill Cole

Mikel Ramires

Moses Mata Oscar

Torres

Lamps/Hazard/Sturridge as impact subs if things go pear shaped.

I just don't want to see Torres in the team any more. When's Studge back?

EDIT: Just read the OP and might start Studge instead of Oscar/Moses and revert back to usual shape.

Have seen quite a bit of sunderland on the tv recently and I have to say they have been dreadful. Fletcher and sessegnon are their main threats and without oshea at the back they look dodgy to say the least. The don't have cattermole either who puts himself about and likes a tackle so their midfield is weakened. I still expect a tough game though because it is never easy up there!

Ramires???

He has played a hell of a lot of games recently! I would of rested him last night but we didn't so I'd rest him saturday instead.

Ramires? Rest?

does not compute

Two sides badly out of form usually points to a draw.

We have been saying we need to win for a while now, maybe this is our best chances of doing so. We need the boost ahead of the CWC that is for sure.

I hope the big win yesterday has made us better. Would be nice to follow it up with another solid win against Sunderland. Some more goals from Torres perhaps?

I don't see Rafa changing much after getting that win...he NEEDS a win in the league now.

Id start by saying , it was a little club we beat, and in the first half it was worrying how they played and attacked us, with sometimes little or no response.Having said that, (and b4 some of you burst a blood vessel), it was a good mental boost for the team..if we can get a win at sunderland, then i believe we can go through december on a high note..The end result by new years day...3rd only by 3 points....

If there is one team we rather play now, Sunderland is one. Having said that, can't take anything for granted. We will win, Rafa out if we dont ( at least that's what everyone will be calling on Sunday).

Some more goals from Torres perhaps?

Now you ask for too much Moos.

No Mikel so how about:

Cech

Cesar

Brana

Cahill

Cole

Romeu

Luiz

Moses

Mata

Hazard

Torres

Both Lampard and Mikel gone. I wonder if Rafa will keep Oscar on the bench in case Ramires or Romeu has to be replaced.

Hope to see Marin though.

Perhaps Marin and Moses out wide and Hazard or Mata in a central position.
