I am Roman Abramovich - Here's what I shall do

Featured Replies

Привет, hello. Firstly let me begin by apologizing to every true Chelsea fan for the decisions I have made and, actions I have taken, since the home game against Manchester United on October 28th. I especially wish to personally apologize to Roberto Di Matteo for the lack of patience and loyalty I showed him after he led our glorious club to the pinnacle of European football in Munich just last May.

I see no benefit in discussing the “whys†and “wherefores†of my decisions, other than to say I realize now I was wrong. 100% wrong and that I will do my utmost to put right my mistakes and repair the damage I have done to the club’s reputation and to build bridges with the supporters. To this end I shall implement the following:

  1. The dismissal of Senor Benitez with immediate effect. A new interim manager shall be appointed to shepherd the club through the ruins that I have turned this season into.

  1. The transfer listing of Fernando Torres with immediate effect. If no buyer is forthcoming he shall be sent out on loan to any willing taker and I shall cover the difference in his wages, (as I did with Seba Veron), until such time as his contract expires.

  1. I shall reappoint at the earliest possible date either:

  1. Roberto Di Matteo
  2. Jose Mourinho
  3. Both the above

  1. The new manager shall have a four year contract which will contain a clause guaranteeing that the only situation in which I can terminate their contract early is if Chelsea FC are in the relegation zone at Christmas.

  1. Once Jose or Roberto are reappointed I shall make a public statement stating that they have sole control over all team matters, including appointment of backroom staff and player transfers. These rights will be made legally binding under the terms of their new contract.  Final decisions on potential transfer targets, who can be brought or sold, tactics, and style of football will be the managers alone.

  1. I will hold a meeting with the current squad and with all players brought into the club in the future. I will state, quite unequivocally, that in situations where there are any disagreements between a player and the manager, it will be the manager who receives my unswerving 100% backing regardless of circumstances. In cases where a player chooses to air their disagreements in public, they will be relegated to train with the youth team until the manager sees fit to reinstate them or transfer list them.

Finally, despite my mistakes which have resulted in us becoming the laughing stock of the football world, I wish to restate my love of Chelsea FC. I invite all Chelsea fans to forgive me and I assure them that my desire to make us a powerhouse of world football and leave a lasting legacy of footballing excellence still burns as brightly as ever. I have done a great deal of self-introspection over recent weeks and consider that the root of all my mistakes lay in believing that I knew more about football and management than those professionals who have spent a lifetime inside the game. Again, I was wrong.

I shall not make that mistake again and, moreover, will in future always consider and take into account the thoughts and and views of the majority of supporters. Therefore, through the medium of the Shed End Forums, I invite all Chelsea fans, (except Redhatter, he is a complete idiot and as many of you long suspected, the illegitimate love-child of Nando and Rafa), to contribute to my list above, with the exception of points 1 & 2 which are non-negotiable.

Yours, with genuine remorse for the shambles we have become.

1. I hear Davey Baby's wife is a bit demanding. I promise to open a savings account in his name, which he can dip in and out of as he wants, no questions asked.

About f**king time, Mr. Abramovic.

I will give total control of transfer targets to Mr Di Matteo or Mr Mourinho.

I promise to allow the Manager his full choice staff and the number two of his choice.

I will have a special kit designed for Eva as tight and skimpy as possible and will make sure Mr Benitez is wearing the same one as he waves a special plastic flag, simply saying goodbye.

Remove RDM and have Mourinho and Mourinho alone and this would be fine.

We're not the laughing stock of football either, that honour belongs to Liverpool or Arsenal.

If only this was real......

I think I understand you Hazard. Yes, by the Beard of Borsov indeed if only this was Real Madrid. I would have Jose and a forward in Ronaldo who could actually score goals ! But niet! I will not go down that road again. Once I wanted to be Barcelona and that never worked out either. Now I realise my mistakes, I just want us to be Chelsea, no-one else.

You are right Eugene and I have been to both Liverpool and Arsenal and they are indeed, funny, but it is a longtime since they were clubs in the elite of world football. My hope is that, when I sack him on Monday, Senor Benitez goes back to Liverpool where he belongs so they will continue to be a second rate football team for many years to come.

Yours

Roman

You knows so messed up about this? We can all sit here and universally agree the problems which affect this club are named above and can be solved.

And yet all of us accepts that anything approaching these decisions from our club is so unlikely we regard it as a pipe dream. Its so obvious to everyone, but there is no chance we will ever see something like this.

I guess that's the deal we made when we accepted him, its just too bad it wasnt known in advance.

This is the other deal we (unwittingly) made. Roman wanted to make us like other clubs by taking their style or philosophy or failed players. Its hard to know (between that and the megalomania with managers) which has been more costly and which has been more disappointing.

Been on the cooking sherry Just?

Roman is not man enough to apologise to RDM or the club's supporters

Use your billions to build a time machine, go back to the summer of 2012, tell Robbie how grateful you are to him for finally bringing home the Holy Grail and the job is his for at least the next two years. Give him a squad of 25 viable players of his choosing, including a world class central midfielder and striker, and three other strikers of at least EPL standard, then leave him to get on with the job.

Dear Roman,

In response to your letter, please bugger off & take Buck, Gourlay, Eugene & FSW with you just after selling the club to someone who actually cares about

what a football club and its supporters are all about

I would prefer to see anybody but you as the owner now

sincerely, The General

p.s. thanks for all the trophies but we don't love you anymore

Owners like the Man City owners would be amazing BUT i cant see anyone coming in to buy the club off Roman, The debt we have to him is now huge so who ever wanted the club would have to clear that and some more to make it worth Romans while.

I think we are stuck with Roman for the for seeable future.

I'd like to inform all those concerned that despite the misleading title of the thread, the OP is not in fact Roman Abramovich, so rest assured things at Chelsea FC will remain unchanged. No need to worry.

It is precisely the fact that they are likely to remain UNCHANGED that is worrying many of us!!!

You can critisize Arsenal's lack of trophies, or lack of ambition or investment from the board, but they are still run as a club. They have a manager that just needs backing.

Apart from a state of the art training facility - we do not have any structure as a club and are in a serious transition period. We are losing the 'old guard' - players, we as supportes can still relate to, before the 'Chelsea Brand' seriously developed, and to top it all we have an interim manager we didn't want.

From here, it can go one of 2 ways....Some of Just's post is heeded and adhered to (all of it IMHO) by the club.

Or we spiral onto our next manager, the ilk of Sven Goran Ericson (we wouldn't attract a serious one could we?) or even worse still, Rafa gets it permanant becuase no-one else will take it.

A sorry state of affairs, all by our own doing.

There is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

We have had the mangerial merry-go-round in the past, long before RA became involved in our club. It is not the be all and end all.

Managerial stability is an ideal that is very rarely realised in club football. Yes, it would be an amazing ideal to have a long serving manager who we all adored and who was successful with the club, but in reality, it doesnt happen too often with any regularity. I will not kid myself into thinking that Roman would ever accept an Arsenal situation to evolve during his reign as owner, where we have a manager who has stagnated and led the club to trophyless years.

With Roman Abramovich as our owner, the team needs to be successful. The hire 'em fire 'em business model that he has implemented has worked in that respect and we have enjoyed the success and tropies that it has reaped. There were not too many people pining for Carlo Ancelloti, AVB, Claudio, Big Phil, Gus or even Jose nor complaining about the trigger happy owner  when we lifted the Euro cup.

Now that we are going through choppy waters it is easy for us as fans to critisise the method and model that has allowed us to celebrate our recent success, however it is somewhat hypocritical. We praised the man (Roman) when his investments brought us our first league title. We were grateful when his money allowed us to purchase some of the finest players in the world. And we cried tears of joy in munich......

lets sit tight boys and girls, things will get better, and time is a great healer. Rafa will soon be gone, and we can once again move forward as a club, and once again be a club to be proud of.
