I haven't seen enough of him to have a proper opinion, but surely it's not midfielders that we need to buy at the moment?

Good, Marko Marin needs a winger to talk to on the bench.

A bit surprised by this deal. He isnt really what we need right now. We have plenty of cover for AM.

Bit of a strange one really, Chelsea no seeming to spend the money where we really need it.

My preference is to bring in Willian. My issue is that if Mata were for some reason unavailable we would have a massive gap in our midfield. We need a player that can cover that off if necessary and Oscar is not that player for me. Oscar is more deep lying although he might become more influential with time he has definitely shown glimpses of it.

Taison can be a player that can bring a flair to the midfield in Mata's absence or in combination with him and also play up top if needed.

The fact that you think Oscar can cover for what Mata does for Chelsea means you are severely underrating what Mata is doing. Its not even the goals. His movement and pass selection is impeccable and although I think OOscar may be able to reach that level someday he is not there now.

Willian is able to replicate what Mata does but with Taison coming in its doubtful we also add him.

No idea. Maybe cause he is hidden away in the Ukraine. Oscar was in Brazil under their noses and then joined us so much better exposure.

Not saying Taison is better but maybe the national side had too many of Taison's style already.

As for having too many midfielders with attacking instincts. I don't think you can have too many. Centrally we only have Mata and Oscar. Lamps is unfortunately not staying, Hazard is making his mark on the wing and Luiz, Ramires and Mikel are more of the holding box to box guys. Abramovich is clearly setting up the team for Guardiola or another coach who he will select to bring Barca style football. And to do that you need a whole bunch of midfielders who can adapt to that.

no, im not underrating mata. im not saying we wont even notice the difference with oscar instead of mata. im saying oscar can COVER for him. matas our best player, if hes unavailable for selection we are gonna feel it no matter who we sign. but oscar is good enough for us to ride the period out while mata is missing.

We go for Taison who is distinctly average at Metalist, great idea.

6 goals this season in a league that would probably struggle to keep up with Championship sides. If we are going to show interest in Taison then why are we not going for high scoring Championship players ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Taison an attacking midfielder, of which we have at least 3 potentially world class talents and a host of promising youth pushing for reserve places?  We have far more compelling needs in other positions.
