Oscar is good at times, but I can't see him reaching the heights of a world class player. He has a poor first touch on him which really can cost us at times BUT his positives far outweigh his negatives and we are a better side with him.

Only issue with Oscar, is I think ge should make more runs past costa. He very rarely is the furthest player forward and I do think think he needs to score more goals.

I`m not sure he does need to get ahead of Costa, our tactic to get the best out of Costa at the moment is to drag defenders out of the middle and give himspace to run into, having Oscar get ahead would only take that space and bring defenders back in.

I see what you mean, but in games where we struggle to pull defenders out of position, it would give us another dimension in attack if oscar made more runs beyond costa.

Yeah that is a good option to have, and I would like to see Oscar make lampard type runs sometimes.

When the going gets tough the tough get going and Oscar has consistently proven he is not up for the fight when it comes his way. 

Doesn't score anywhere near enough. Look at Silva when he also plays through the middle, behind the striker, like Oscar does every week. If Sliva is playing that position more often, he will rack up the goals. Oscar needs to become a greater goal threat.

Whenever Fabregas plays there I feel we look a better team. This is not knee jerk reaction but just feel he is just a good player and does not bring anything individually special to the team.

But he's not an out-and-out 10. He's asked to drop back and contribute defensively, something he's usually much better at. He had an off-day yesterday but still set up the goal, although he should've done much better with his chance and also should've done better with Kane's first.

Problem with Oscar for me is that he has too many off days and his good spells often come in streaks. Not sure if its a confidence thing or not, but hopefully consistency will come with experience and maturity.

Forget Silva for a second. How many no.10s are really better (or more suitable) than him? I wouldn't take Eriksen, Mata, Coutinho over him. It's probably less than a handful of players who would be legitimate arguments for being better in the role, considering our team dynamic.

Also I don't feel we look our best with Fabregas in the role. We look our best when we're playing an intense, high-pressing game and we lack some of that if Oscar is missing. And he's still only 23.

I was surprised he was subbed off yesterday personally but Ivan and Cahill being prats and giving away the needles penalty forced Jose hand I suppose.

Yeah we are, I was disappointed how he dealt with Kane for their first goal but Fabregas also let Kane run past him easily. 

 

FC is right, we are better with him in the side. He's been very good this season so far and I just hope he doesn't fade like he did last season around this time.

If he had composure in front of goal, he would be unplayable. Sadly he doesn't and often wastes chances you would expect a player of his quality to finish.

Agree with Forever that we look better with him in the team though.

May it is just me, Hazard is playing so well right now you try to draw some comparisons to the rest of the team and when in reality Hazard is in a class of his own whereas Oscar is better than most.

I would really like to see us try Oscar on the wing, with Fabregas in the middle for at least one match.

I remember the opening World Cup match really well, Brazil 3-1 Croatia, he was on the wing then and had a brilliant game, I remember many were saying he was the man of the match.

I like this idea but if this were the case, i'd want us to sign someone like strootman to partner matic.

Still came out of the match with an assist, much improved on his contribution from last season already, I think Fabregas helps to bring the best out of him.
