April 10, 201511 yr Hazard and Sanchez would be a better comparison. Hazard is with the Bales and the Neymars, slightly below Robben, far away from Messi and Ronaldo. Sanchez is just below his level.
April 11, 201511 yr In reality it should be 10 for HAZARD and 0 for Cazorla. Judging by the comments below the 3 votes for Cazorla, it seems more like sentimental votes as opposed to reality. But then again, the question was who is more aesthetically pleasing and not who was the better player, so... Exactly. There are only a few footballers who are better to watch in full flow than Santi Cazorla. Of course, Hazard is one of them.
April 11, 201511 yr Hazard is with the Bales and the Neymars, slightly below Robben, far away from Messi and Ronaldo. Sanchez is just below his level. Hazard is at least on the same level as Robben with both being below Messi and Ronaldo. I'll put him above Bale and Neymar (both great players but slightly overrated imo)
April 11, 201511 yr Hazard is at least on the same level as Robben with both being below Messi and Ronaldo. I'll put him above Bale and Neymar (both great players but slightly overrated imo) You're underrating Neymar. I think Hazard is just a tier below Robben, and basically the same level as Neymar and Bale.
April 11, 201511 yr In any case, I will rate Hazard above Neymar and Bale when he starts winning matches on his own--truth be told, he hasn't made much of an impact in the Champions League for us yet. Last season's semi-final run was pretty much a team effort, and this season, he was very impressive in the group stages but the team went absent against PSG. Next season will be very important for Hazard and Mourinho in the CL. If he can do it against top teams, and basically come alive when the team needs him the most (being clutch) then he's on his way to the top.
April 11, 201511 yr Hazard isn't on Robben's level, yet. Robben has the ability to completely take over a game. Everyone knows he's coming, everyone knows he's cutting in...and still he slashes through the box and makes defenders look silly. He is the third best player in the world imo, but Hazard and Neymar are the heirs to the throne. I can't wait to see what Hazard becomes three years from now. There is no ceiling.

I doubt he'll look as good if he were playing in a harder league and for such a dominating team that averages over 70% possession and scores for fun. Let's put it this way, if both players could swap their teams, I doubt you'll be calling Robben the 3rd best in the world. Robben can take over a game but so can Hazard, in a more convincing fashion. Case in point, this season away to Spurs were he carried the team on his back and was virtually unplayable. Robben might do it by cutting in and shooting, Hazard does it with his playmaking skills which are more subtle. I personally don't think there's any 3rd best player in the world. Last season, yes, with Suarez, but I don't see Robben existing on this plane all by himself as 3rd best. For me, there's Messi and Ronaldo and below that, there's Suarez, Robben and Hazard. And there's a tier below that with the Bale's and James Rodriguez's, Modric, Aguero, Silva, Costa, Fabregas, and so on. Edited April 11, 201511 yr by The Liquidator
April 11, 201511 yr You're underrating Neymar. I think Hazard is just a tier below Robben, and basically the same level as Neymar and Bale. He's better than both. Both are slightly overrated and are not worth the prices they cost. Suarez is also better than both, and I'll have a healthy Aguero ahead of both those players as well.
April 11, 201511 yr Neymar has 26 goals in 33 starts this season. And 43 goals in 62 games for Brazil. He may be overrated, but in that case, you are overrating Hazard as well.

April 11, 201511 yr Neymar has 26 goals in 33 starts this season. And 43 goals in 62 games for Brazil. He may be overrated, but in that case, you are overrating Hazard as well. Playing next to Messi and Suarez who occupy defenders leaving Neymar with a host of space to score tap ins. Hazard on the other hand get's double marked all game and besides, he's more of a playmaker than an inside forward like Neymar. Do you even watch Barcelona at all? I'm sorry, but Neymar has been very poor in 2015, so much so that he even got "rested" in his last game vs Celta Vigo. This is his last game vs Celta Vigo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJeEnZOciT0 And of course, the oh so predictable record for Brazil. Okay it's a great record. But when you consider 33 of those 43 goals (because Brazil were hosting the WC), over 75% have come in uncompetitive friendlies, it's not so impressive. I'm sorry, Neymar might be a very good player, but he's not as good as Hazard is. I'll take a fit Aguero over Neymar anyday. And even Alexis Sanchez. These guys just don't get the same hype and media attention as Neymar does.
April 11, 201511 yr Neymar's finishing and killer instinct in front of goal is days ahead of Hazard there is not even an comparison. But other than that Hazard pips him down at every other aspect.
April 11, 201511 yr But unfortunately we live in a stats obsessed era, thanks to Messi and Ronaldo, were people no longer use the eye test to evaluate the quality of a player. Zidane won't have too much luck in this era either because he never scored 50 goals or if he never played for Barcelona or Real Madrid. It's easy to see just by watching both players that Hazard is the superior footballer to Neymar and by extension the best young player in the world.
April 11, 201511 yr Well obviously if I have a different opinion from you, it means that either I don't watch Barcelona or I don't have the ability to use my eyes properly. I'm not sure I should even bother arguing with these deficiencies. For what its worth, they play different roles as you say, so its not really a direct comparison. But as far as overall talent goes, in my humble opinion, there is not a lot between the two.
April 11, 201511 yr Anyone else find it odd that he doesn't take our free kicks? He scored a couple for Lille if I remember correctly.
April 11, 201511 yr Am I the only one here who finds it bizzare that Robben is being rated higher than Hazard?

And there's a tier below that with the Bale's and James Rodriguez's, Modric, Aguero, Silva, Costa, Fabregas, and so on. You can use that argument for literally any player not in the PL. I don't base my opinion of Robben solely on what he does for Bayern, but the Netherlands as well. Similarly, I take into account what Hazard has done for Belgium so far.I agree that Robben is flashy, whereas Hazard's best attribute is his subtle ability to open space for his teammates and glide past defenders (I made a post on that exact thing in this thread last Fall). That's the difference for me though. Hazard makes his team much better, but he needs his teammates to perform. Robben is like the best kid on the block growing up, he just does it himself. You want to say something because he never passes you the ball, but he's so incredibly good that you just stay out of his way and let him do his thing. If it weren't for injuries, Robben would be higher rated in more people's minds. Edit: I do agree that there isn't a clear 3rd best player in the world, and that Robben is a huge drop below Messi and Ronaldo. And I'll take Hazard over any player in the world for his age, attributes, and potential. Edited April 11, 201511 yr by Thacker
April 11, 201511 yr Eden have to be more selfish I think and then will score much more goals One of the things i like about him the most is that he isn't selfish.
April 11, 201511 yr One of the things i like about him the most is that he isn't selfish. But the issue with that is he looks for passes that aren't there and doesn't shoot when he has good chances to.
April 11, 201511 yr Am I the only one here who finds it bizzare that Robben is being rated higher than Hazard? On his day, and he has a lot of them, Robben is unplayable. He's completely one footed, most the time you know what he's going to do but you can't stop him doing it. Hazard is getting there but he needs to start having those games where he takes it by the scruff of the neck and dominants the opposition for 90 minutes.
April 11, 201511 yr Am I the only one here who finds it bizzare that Robben is being rated higher than Hazard? I'm still surprised no one has mentioned Ribery.
April 11, 201511 yr But the issue with that is he looks for passes that aren't there and doesn't shoot when he has good chances to. But then he also doesn't take shots or try to do to much on his own and be greedy because he wants all the glory. He usually makes the best decision for the good of the team.
April 11, 201511 yr Am I the only one here who finds it bizzare that Robben is being rated higher than Hazard? Robben is a champions league final match winner, he's done it on all the top stages including world cups. He has multiple titles to his name in which he played a large part for his team's success. Of course he'd be rated higher than Hazard.
April 11, 201511 yr I'm still surprised no one has mentioned Ribery. 1st tier: Ronaldo, Messi .... 2nd tier: Robben, Ribery, Suarez, Modric 3rd tier: Bale, Neymar, Hazard
