April 5, 201511 yr Ive never seen anyone with a better penalty technique in a Chelsea shirt, he's so good at waiting for the keeper to move, he's that good at it that he takes the piss and just strokes it down the middle. Agreed. But just wait till he misses one and people start moaning about his technique again.
April 5, 201511 yr Hazard has directly contributed 30 goals this season in 44 apps. 2012-13 13goals and 25 assists in 62 games. 38 goals in 62 apps. 2013-14 17 goals and 9 assists in 49 games. 28 goals in 49 apps. 2014-15 17 goals and 13 assists. 30 goals in 44 apps. Improvement. Edited April 5, 201511 yr by CFCBlue12
April 5, 201511 yr He's just getting better and better. At the rate he's improving, I am actualy scared how good he could be next season.
April 5, 201511 yr I'm wIth Tommy Langley on this: Eden Hazard has to be the player of the year “Hazard is almost unplayable, and if he doesn’t get player of the year I’ll be gobsmacked.“Harry Kane has been tremendous for Spurs, but if you look at Hazard week-in, week-out you must look at him and admire him like you do with Messi and Ronaldo. He’s up there with them."If he doesn’t get player of the year it will be wrong.”
April 6, 201511 yr And i wish people would stop comparing his goal record to Messi or Ronaldo..Last nights la liga match proved the difference between the prem and the walkover league !!The big two (maybe three) have it piss easy most weeks, AND the whole teams objective it to give the ball to M & R to score.. On the other hand Hazard is expected to create for our striker, as well as be resolute in his defensive duties, which neither of the other two are expected to do.
April 6, 201511 yr One things I always need to remember: DOn't read the comments. Some journo (maybe Winter) wrote that Eden should be player of the year. Cue a bunch of Spurs, and even Arsenal fans piling in saying that Hazard only scores penalties, and that he goes down/dives every game; in essence calling him a cheat. FFS, sometimes the blinkered hatred that football brings out in other people just baffles me. Look, I think Rooney is a sh*thouse who bullies refs and opposition players. However, I can still applaud his technique and he goals that he scores.
April 6, 201511 yr So glad we signed the lad up. Here is hoping he stays for another 5 years at least. In current football, anything is possible, but how many players have wanted to leave Chelsea? It is rare. I think he has everything in place here to be a club legend. We desperately need some support for him, though; we cannot keep relying on him to create for us. Hopefully we bring in a couple of decent names next season to relieve the pressure on hazard every game. Edited April 6, 201511 yr by enigma

It's not about saying that Eden Hazard is the same kind of player as Messi or Ronaldo though. After all, those two are widely regarded as the best two players in the world, but they are two very different players. And so the comparison isn't one of playing, style but of quality and ability. Eden Hazard, I would say, has the potential to become a better player than either Messi or Ronaldo.

That might be the best 45 mins from a player I have ever seen. Messi is another level. Ronaldo has to be respected for the pure work he puts in to his game, very talented but he matched it with physical work
April 7, 201511 yr I agree with Barak81.. Messi is Messi, arguably the very best footballer the world has ever seen. The fact that Eden does get compared i suppose is a massive compliment in itself !!I do however believe that if Eden continues how he is, in a couple of years he WILL be a future Ballon winner for us, and as a Chelsea fan of 50 yrs that will be a very proud moment for me, and for my beloved club. There just isn't anyone (new) around at the moment who comes near him for pure entertainment on a football pitch.
April 7, 201511 yr You call someone the 'next Messi' and he's failed already as far as I'm concerned. Eden Hazard is Eden Hazard and unless something goes terribly wrong, he'll be remembered as a genius and one of the greatest footballers of his generation. We are lucky to have him and I'd rather not get bogged down with comparisons.
April 7, 201511 yr Hmm... apologies if I've missed it, but I don't recall Eden Hazard being described as the "next" anything. To say that he has the potential to be up there with Messi and Ronaldo is neither a direct comparision nor is it a claim that he could be the next Messi. Or the next anyone. Eden Hazard has just turned 24, Messi is nearly 28. Who knows where Eden Hazard could be in four years time? And so to get away from the question of comparisons, perhaps we can agree that Eden Hazard is an exceptional talent and that he has the potential to become the best player in the world. April 7, 201511 yr No one, not even eden, will replace messi when he retires. The stats he has and the records messi has broken, it will take decades to find another messi. Ronaldo is the same, you compare a player's abilities to his stats and both guys are in a league of their own. I am just glad that I've been here to witness the two best players ever.
April 7, 201511 yr Hazard has scored nine Premier League penalties out of nine – no player in the division’s history has taken that many and scored them all. http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2015/04/the-data-day--chelsea-v-stoke-city.html
April 7, 201511 yr First half of the season, Fabregas, Costa, Matic, Azpi, Terry were all excellent. The whole was on song. Like you say though, Costa and Fabregas have been hot and cold for a long time now. JT keeping it going too, and Azpi (bar that wobbly patch with his injury)' but Hazard has been good-excellent all season. It's him the team look to to win the game. Yep. Whereas other players have become inconsistent, Hazard has actually stepped up and put the team on his back. He's becoming the player we all hoped he could be and it's an absolute privilege to see.
April 7, 201511 yr He is absolutely phenominal, I love it when he gets the ball you just know something is going to happen. The only bad game I've seen him have all season was Sunderland away that was it, and he wasn't greatly effective against PSG like he usually is. Besides that can't really say he has had one game where he hasn't been strongly effective on that side. He has to win player of the year.

Some might call me stupid but I would much rather have Hazard in the side than Ronaldo, Hazard is one of the best footballers on the planet right now, he is much above Ronaldo in terms of abillity, not on Messi's level obviously but still. Not going to bring up a whole Ronaldo is overrated debate but just because he might not score as much goals he doesn't play as a team player, Hazard is a team player, he works hard, gets into the right positions, not expecting every player in the side to pass the ball to him for a shot. The only player I would swap for Hazard is Messi, that is it, definitely not Ronaldo.

Messi goes out of his way to celebrate his goals with the team and Ronaldo goes out of his way to celebrate his goals by himself. I cannot think of a more petulant, spoilt and selfish player in the history of the game. I would not swap Hazard for him either.
April 7, 201511 yr I wouldn't like to think of Hazard going anyway to be honest, I hope that day never comes, I just hope Aguero is on Madrids mind when they are looking for someone to score the goals when Ronaldo is past it. Edited April 7, 201511 yr by Slawth
April 7, 201511 yr Just have a feeling Kane will get the player of the year award He will deserve it if he helped the spuds to CL but as that is highly unlikely it should definately be Hazard

All Ronaldo has become is a goal poacher thats all he thinks about. Hazard offers so much more to a game.

The only player I would swap for Hazard is Messi, that is it, definitely not Ronaldo. i love hazard, but his finishing is average. Ronaldo has been scoring 20+ goals for many seasons now. Hazard needs to improve this part of his game exponentially to be comparable to Ronaldo. Let us not forget that almost half of hazard's goals this season have been penalties (cue the "Penaldo" comments) and yet Ronaldo just scored 5 goals in a 9-1 win, none of which were penalties. I agree that Hazard has the potential to be up there with the very best of them. As of right now, i would probably take Hazard because Ronaldo is ageing, but only by a very slim margin and basing that more on age than ability. Edited April 7, 201511 yr by enigma
April 7, 201511 yr Why does he have to reach Ronaldo and Messi goal records anyway? I get bored of people saying he needs to. The current Hazard is fine and world class. I would be delighted if Hazard could play like he has for us this season for the rest of his career.
