Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Featured Replies

Why does he have to reach Ronaldo and Messi goal records anyway? I get bored of people saying he needs to. The current Hazard is fine and world class. I would be delighted if Hazard could play like he has for us this season for the rest of his career.

He doesn't have to reach those records and he likely never will because he still hasn't primed (though he is 24 now) yet, but his abilities definitely allow him the potential to set records in the EPL if he wants to. I think he himself is the only one holding him back. He is the EPL's version of Messi & Ronaldo rolled into one, so absolutely could boss this league if he pushes himself.

I say that because of this:

http://metro.co.uk/2013/06/07/eden-hazard-ill-score-60-goals-next-season-under-mystical-jose-mourinho-3832233/

Only he knows if he truly is pushing himself to score that many goals. He claimed he can, so he needs to put those words into action if he is serious.

That was two seasons back. This is what he said at the start of the season:

'Last season I scored a lot of goals and maybe this season I can make a lot more passes forward because Costa is one of the best and he can score. It's my job to score but it's also my job to make assists as well.'

He added: 'I can now concentrate on assists. I'm ready to be better than last season. When I'm on the pitch I try to give my best.

Rinaldo may score more goals and therefore (maybe) decide a match better but Hazard offers infinitely more entertainment. I know who I would rather watch (Hazard). I guess Ronaldo is still easily the 'better' and more effective player. In terms of pure magic (which is not all about goals at all), only Messi tops Haz world over.

I hate the way people think these days. It seems like if you aren't scoring a ridiculous amount of goals then you're not one of the best in the world.

Zidane is one of the best players of all time, he wasn't exactly a goal scoring machine and Messi and Ronaldo aren't miles better than he was either.

Eden Hazard will never score 50 or 60 goals in a season like Messi and Ronaldo. He isn't that type of player and in the Premier League it's never going to happen, this league is hard. I guarantee that Messi and Ronaldo wouldn't score 50 goals a season playing for a Premier League team.

At most he will become a 30 goals a season player.

I don't think it's fair to compare Hazard to Messi or Ronaldo but there is no way that Hazard is on Ronaldo's level as some are suggesting, Ronaldo is still comfortably the best and most complete player in the world.

If you were to design the perfect footballing specimen from scratch Ronaldo comes as close to what you'd end up with as anyone ever has. The total package.

anyone else feel like ronaldo almost sacrificed his overall game in favor of becoming a more efficient player(efficient goal scorer more like)

when he played in this country he was probably the best all round player we've ever seen, didn't score as much as he does now.... but definitively approached matches in a different fashion

now he's just a goalscoring machine which obviously has his merits but he definitely is not the same player he was when he played here.

it's like, in his own quest to compete with messi in the numbers chart, he substituted his all round game for a statistic based one....

am i thinking to much or am i on to something here?

When you watch ronaldo, he has so much drive to score. I don't see this as a bad thing seeing as football is about scoring more than your opposition. The guy absolutely hates being 2nd best and that kind of motivation is fantastic. No matter how much you dislike the guy, he's a product of sickening work ethic.

Absolutely, 100% agree. People call him arrogant but the guy is the ultimate professional.

He works harder in the gym than almost any other player and that isn't just so he looks good in pants. He's arguably the greatest athlete in football, his ability to spring for headers is astounding in person, his speed of foot is sensational and his strength is surprising too.

I also love the way he worked on his free-kicks. I don't know if he was the first to develop that technique but he probably perfected it first. I'd love to hear stories of Eden staying for hours after training working on his free-kicks like Ronaldo and Beckham did, but he seems happy to go home to his family.

But yeah, Ronaldo....amazing pro.

I think you are spot on. But that doesn't mean he hasn't become a better player or doesn't contribute more to the team now.

The fact that he can match and even beat the greatest player ever in the numbers chart is quite some feat.

Only thing is he's perhaps not as entertaining to watch as he used to be, but I'm sure Madrid fans are not complaining.

I think you mean the complete forward. Someone like Alfredo Di Stefano was by all accounts, a complete footballer.

Absolutely, 100% agree. People call him arrogant but the guy is the ultimate professional.

Also agreed.

Some people can't see past his self belief and arrogance.

Facts are he's one of the best players to ever kick a football, a once in a lifetime kind of player.

Those 3 people who have rated Cazorla in front of Hazard, have no knowledge of football maybe... or have red tinted glasses. There is a massively huge difference b/w their classes.

The first half of the season, Cazorla was having a pretty average season. Hazard has been great all season. How anyone can think Cazorla is better or on equal terms with Hazard hasn't got a clue what they are talking about.

If Cazorla was so amazing he would be a regular for Spain and would have been bought by a better team than Arsenal a couple of seasons ago. He's a good player but is a few steps behind the very top attacking midfielders in the world.

I don't really understand why the Dailymail are comparing anyway. Hazard and Cazorla are 2 totally different players that play in different positions and play completely different roles for their clubs.

In reality it should be 10 for HAZARD and 0 for Cazorla. Judging by the comments below the 3 votes for Cazorla, it seems more like sentimental votes as opposed to reality.

But then again, the question was who is more aesthetically pleasing and not who was the better player, so...
