I think the condition had a lot to do with it, and they pretty much followed Hazard all game in terms of tactic. Very narrow field, their 4 MF covered the central ground easily. Pitch was dry as my backyard after a long rainless summer, all of our players had problem controlling the ball, that couple of seconds of awakard first touch made easy for their hunting down. Couple of times I saw all their MF are in central or left hand side to cover Hazard, every time the ball was on the right Ivanoic usually have lots of space, but his crossing ability didn't threaten them. On another day, couple of their hard tackles would have been called foul, but referee was happy to let them go on a day like this. So glad we won this, so I don't have to use the above as excuses.

How is Coutinho in that list ? he has been good for about 2 months of the season. I can think of plenty of players that should be ahead of him. Fabregas, Matic, Terry, Aguero, Silva, Cazorla, Schneiderlin, Bertrand, Clyne, Austin, Lloris, they have all had better seasons than him. I could probably name more.

 

Hazard, Costa, De Gea, Kane and Sanchez probably all deserve to be on that list. Hazard should win it though.

I'm just glad that we have 3 of our players in the mix. Hazard is a cert to win, surely?

Coutinho.... Hahaha.

In theory he should win both, but I imagine it'll be him getting the main award and Kane getting Young Player.

Im with Slawth on this one. I'd choose the best Hazard over the best Robben.

Of the six nominations for Young Player of the Year, 4 are also nominated for the main prize, which suggests the other two (Sterling and Tibo) can't possibly win the Young Player of the Year and may as well not be nominated.

 

Coutinho has been very impressive but Aguero has been far more impressive and for a longer period, if we're judging it over the season as a whole, which we should.

 

The most glaring omission is Terry, naturally.

The Pogba thing is boring already.

On topic, if Hazard doesn't win player of the year it's nothing short of a farce. No one has come close to his quality or consistency this year.

Kane has scored a lot but overall his performances aren't even close to the magic that Hazard is producing.

Yeah an absolute joke.

Kane is overrated. He won't be talked about in years to come unlike hazard.

Admittedly he's only done it for this season but how about seeing how he is next season before writing him off. If he continues to score goals he will still be talked about in this country, especially with him been English.

I think Kane has good prospects and seems less likely to go off the rails as some do. He seems a humble spirit.

Fair play to this lad. Had to feed off scraps all game, but still managed to be the best player on the pitch, playing for a very negative and defensive team. Fantastic finish and burst of acceleration for the goal too.
