I wouldn't be as bothered if Kane beat him to it personally, of course I want Hazard to win it Kane has been phenomenal. I personally think a lot if people are up in arms more because Kane doesn't play for us (he happens to play for Spurs). If it were the other way around I think some of you would be saying Kane should win. As far as I'm concerned him and Hazard are the only choices but if anyone else were to get it then I wouldn't be happy.

As wrong a call as Kane would be, and as obvious a token gesture to a young English player, I wouldn't particularly care. Plus the more undeserved hype young English players get, the sooner they tend to fail. Obviously we don't want Tottenham to have the next great English striker, so I am in favour of anything which incites his downfall.

 

There's one thing Hazard will be winning this season that Kane won't come near, and that is far more important!

 

I think this is most happiest day for Israel to meet Hazard there.

Costa has got the same amount of league goals as Kane and no one is talking about Costa getting it.

He didn't manage to score at all in the League Cup, FA Cup or Champions League this season as far as I can recall. 

Kane is by far a better candidate than Costa, but I think Hazard should, and will edge it.

It's Hazard by a mile, if Kane wasn't English there wouldn't even be a debate.

 

Kane will likely win though, even if we win the title with Hazard dragging us across the line.

I think it is important to a small extent. 

 

Most of leagues acknowledge their best players and coaches but the Premier League still has this weird xenophobia when it comes to giving out the individual awards. 

 

How else can we explain 'Arry getting manager of the year for finishing 4th ahead of Carlo Ancelotti winning the title in his first season and setting a new record for most goals scored in the Premier League? 

 

Rooney winning player of the year for the same season despite Drogba winning the golden boot? 

 

The Manager of the year has been British for the past 8 years.

That said, it's not important, there's only one trophy that matters now:

Stupid comparison really, Kane is without a doubt Young Player of the Year anyway so he's clearly better than an Andy Johnson. I don't think it would be as ridiculous for him to get POTY this season personally.

As for awards that shouldn't have gone I remember Ginola beating out David Beckham in the 98-99 season that was one that was a farce.

Anyone who scores twice for Chelsea and then misses a penalty is alright in my book. Plus he is one of the most racially ambiguous people I have ever seen.

 

I read the other day that he has the best shot accuracy in the league, thoroughly underrated and works himself into the ground for the team. People only really seem to remember him for the occasional car crash performance he puts in every so often.

Yup, Walters leads the pack with a conversion rate of just shy of 39% ahead of Newcastle's Cisse who has 34% and our very own Diego Costa who has 33%. 

 

Stats are based on players with a minimum of 3 goals, Walters has 7, Cisse 11 and Costa 19.
