Lane Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Since he started featuring in the 1st team games, surely this boy deserves his own thread? Did very well against Boro, little insure on the ball but tackled well and was great at dealing with long balls. Pity there arent many games left this season he would be able to start
SpecialOne0506 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Agreed. But we all know we will loan him out next year and then go on to sell him for profit.....
Ben Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Agreed. But we all know we will loan him out next year and then go on to sell him for profit..... i'm not so sure. Could see him & Challobah making the 1st team, but I think he will be loaned next season when Challobah comes back.
Uno Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 He should be loaned out. Whats the point of keeping him and playing him in the U21's and maybe getting a carling cup game here or there. Send him out on loan and dont waste his time playing him once in a while like we did with Josh. Get him a club where he will play each week and lets see what kind of player he becomes.
That Boy Brandinho Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Agreed. But we all know we will loan him out next year and then go on to sell him for profit..... Exactly what is wrong with that? Do you actually believe Nathan Ake should stay with the club and play 25 times next year? He was born in 1995 for crying out loud, a loan next year makes perfect sense. If, in a few years, he's not in the first team and we sell him, we'll make a profit and be able to focus on players who have a chance to make it here. Until we see if Ake does or doesn't, it's pointless to whinge about a hypothetical scenario. You probably thought Gökhan Töre was a huge loss too. He's already on his third club in two years and is going nowhere fast.
Jonty Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Wouldn't mind seeing him given a chance in the league at some point this season, he looked comfortable enough against Boro.
mad_mac Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Fantastic player and is one of the few that continually stands out when you see him play in the U21's too. Bit I think he will go on loan, unless he is happy to be used on the bench for a season to then go on loan? I think, and hope, that we will see De Bruyne back next season to play a deep laying role in the midfield.
Mike Carefree Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 We have some good kids that can be cfc heroes one day if kept at the club
ForeverCarefree Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 One decent game against lower league opposition doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. We have a lot of competition for the holding midfield and it is going to take a lot for him to push himself to the front of the line.
Guest Sindre Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 So typical that everyone goes nuts when a youngster plays nothing more than a decent game. Have even seen someone suggesting that we should sell Mikel because Ake is better already... Decent game, good talent that might become a good player for us someday.

That's quite funny considering you have Josh McEachran as your avatar.
jack_super_class Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 This was Arnesen last signing for us wasn't it? thanks Frank. He did well but like most people have said get him out on loan and see how he does.
Gormo1997 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Can't see much space for Aké in the team next year when Chalobah comes back from loan. Actually who is better of the two?
Lane Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Can't see much space for Aké in the team next year when Chalobah comes back from loan. Actually who is better of the two? you dont know whos better but you seem certain chalobah will push him out of the team . . .
That Boy Brandinho Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Can't see much space for Aké in the team next year when Chalobah comes back from loan. Actually who is better of the two? Nobody can possibly say one is objectively "better" at this stage, but personally I'd take Chalobah over Ake 10 times out of 10.
Nibs Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I like Ake - he is yet another decent young prospect, but I can't help but think that some people are getting over enthusiastic purely due to his resemblance to Ruud Gullit. Only time will tell but at the moment, Chalobah is ahead of him. Saw some of the Watford v Wolves game tonight and Chalobah again showed plenty of quality. He came off after about 82 minutes, only for Watford to concede a late equaliser.

Jonty Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 (edited) Played very well and didn't look at all out of his depth today, took it off Fellaini numerous times including one fantastic diving interception where afterwards he somehow managed to rise to his feet and start a counter attack in one fluid movement. Very promising, may well have overtaken Romeu and McEacheran as our second hottest talent in the deep midfield role, would be very interested in seeing him and Chalobah together. Between Ake, Chalobah and Romeu we could have a very promising deep trio. Edited May 19, 2013 by Jonty
Lane Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 its obvious next season he will be able to contribute. looks a decent squad player to have around
big blue Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 its obvious next season he will be able to contribute. looks a decent squad player to have around personally think he should get out on loan and earn his stripes. we should be looking at giving mceachran a try in the first team to see if his loan has matured him enough.
barak81 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Loan... based on what I have seen of him, he's not got it.. YET, Josh was more impressive when he came on the sceane and our other Nathan at watford also looks a step ahead. As always I wish him the best and hope he comes good as home grown talent, is always my preference, but on the basis of what I have seen, he's going to come up short at this club.
Remodez Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I would be happy to keep him in the squad instead of getting a new CB but a loan would probably be for the best, he would get in the way of Chalobah and KDB and they were already better players than Ake before being sent out on loan anyway.
Xfaxtor Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Much better player then McEachran imo, albeit a different one. Have no doubt he can do a good job in the in the pivot next year, next to a guy like KdB but it might be best for his development to get regular games somewere on loan
