Set pieces are the last of my worry with him. He's playing like he's aged 5 years over the summer.

Having a new born probably crying all night every night doesn't help. No excuse but probably a distraction all the same.

We need someone more mobile than Fab next to Matic, that means using Loftus-Cheek, but can you see Jose dropping Spanish Cesc ?

His fitness doesn't look great and his game is suffering because of it.

He needs to work hard in training and in the meantime someone like RLC would be an option but can't see Jose doin that.

I brought it up last season but I'm becoming fed up with his set pieces.

 

9 times out of 10 he hits the first defender, he hardly has any pace on his delivery and they're easy to defend against.

 

Time's up Fab, give them to somebody else.

id have willian on set pieces. generally his delivery from free kicks and corners is better than anyone else we've got. still not perfect though

That article just highlights the paradox of Cesc's first half of last season and the poison it may cause. That article basically calls him out but says we have no alternatives because no one can do what he can. But this fails to take into account the cost/benefit of him playing CM if he's not in form, and fails to take into account evidence of the previous seasons. Naturally with Cesc's assist stats last season you would say he's one of the top three most important players for us right? Let's take a step back a minute though and consider that last season he was coming into it fresh from being dumped out the world cup early and wanting to prove something to Barca and win the Prem for the first time, add to this that the season before we didn't have him and had Torres up front and were still only 4 points behind a far superior City squad all of a sudden he isn't so undroppable. 

I just hope he does the opposite and gets better as the season goes on.
