Cesc Fabregas

One of the most pathetic performances I've seen from him. You can be in terrible form like Costa and Hazard, or just try to attack the same impossible space over and over again aimlessly to the same results but to play with this attitude...I don't care if it was his last game in a Chelsea shirt, never was a Chelsea player, never will be.

I'm a lurker but so disgusted at this fella I had to sign up. He's an embarrassment to this club. Passes the ball straight to an opposing player and just either stands there or does the slowest trot back imagineable while his teammates are going full pelt to try and rescure his mistake. Where's his pride? People are paying stupid amounts of money on tickets and travel and we get wasters like this who cant even be arsed. Thanks for for the first 5 months of last season, now time to f**k off.

Starting to feel this way.  Its not about talent or anything, its 100% his mentality and commitment,,,, they are 100% lacking. Not even trying.  Played with a few like that, better off replacing them with someone who has half the talent but all the heart and passion.

On the plus side, we can discount him as a potential revolt leader..... its too much work and he clearly doesnt care enough for even that.

:laugh2:  Very true.

What a waste of a catchy song.

^ He played well for Spain, I don't buy into the whole idea he has been one of our best performers this season.

Has anyone said he has been one of our best performers this season?

Put him in the Spain team with decent movement ahead of him and suddenly he does what he does best on the pitch again.

Funny that.

Having the ball for over an hour helped.

Not sure if that's supposed to support my argument or not?

But, well, yeah. Shouldn't we be striving to dominant possession like that?

Fabregas moves the ball quick and intelligently, he's great in a possession based team but if the front four are static or in Costa's case out of position he has nothing to work with, he's natural game is blunted no matter how many times he gets on the ball.

surprises me how few players can adapt their game. surely, especially as a midfielder, you should be able to adapt and learn different ways to play, especially for someone who has been a player for as long as fabregas has. it's similar to messi, he can play anywhere in the final third because he can score goals, be a playmaker and assist, link up play, control it etc because he has adapted. so few players have this mindset nowadays and are set in their ways as a specific type of player. even as an attacking mid, you can surely learn the defensive game from the defensive players around you which will come in useful when you need to track back and defend as a team with the others.

I think most players are versatile enough to play in more than one position but their skill set is generally honed to specialize in a particular role.

Otherwise you end up with lots of players like Ramires and and James Milner who can play a variety of positions but excel at none.

"The season is ******," the midfielder, 28, told Spanish paper Marca.

"The results aren't doing our performances justice. We're playing better but aren't having any luck."

He added: "When things are going your way, you flick the ball with your heel and it flies into the top corner, whereas now every piledriver is going off target.

"Either way, we need to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later."

I was quite pleased to read this, some anger from the players for once.

Fabregas has said the right thing in his interviews - frustrated at our position, not blaming any individuals, determined to get us 'back on track'.

The problem for me is his on-field displays haven't matched his words. In fact, I'd say he's one of the first to drop off when things aren't going our way.

We've had our fair share of bad luck and awful decisions this season, but players like Cesc (who is effectively our leader in the middle) dwelling on these and bemoaning the injustice of it all on the pitch doesn't fix anything.

Not sure if that's supposed to support my argument or not?

Just supporting it.

The more minutes he has the ball, the more options he has to pass in front of him, the more success you get out of him.

Same could be said for a lot of other players, but the trouble is, Cesc is a one trick pony.

The funny things is, Fabregas is the absolute opposite of a normal Mourinho player. It's as if Jose has allowed himself one luxury player in the squad.

He was really poor today. In games like today, i just don't see the point in him being on the field, he just can't adapt to this style of football. He cannot play a defensive game. When we play this style, he losses his attacking threat and becomes really sloppy with his passing.

Would it have hurt our performance if Loftus-Cheek had started ? i personally think we would have been better.

Was driving back from Wales so i didn't get to watch the game today but the commentators on TalkSport were raving about Matic and Cesc's performance, so when I got to back home and started reading the forum, watching the twitter videos you can imagine my shock at how bad his passing really was.

Was he at least good defensively or was that a lie too?
