Cesc Fabregas

Fabregas pass map against Everton highlights how ineffective he is up front (blue passes are successful, red unsuccessful):

He's meant to be our most creative passer, yet he only managed to pass the ball into the Everton penalty area 3 times, 2 of those where unsuccessful passes.

I really don't want to see him starting ahead of Ramires or RLC for a long time now. He's a different player from the last season, he can't control the game, he can't win balls, he doesn't assist, he shows nothing. Today I was shocked at the second goal, he just gave a gift to Wijnaldum at the corner, he didn't even run after him. I'm starting to lose all my respect to him this season.

I don't understand the hate for him today. He had a couple of really dangerous shots in the first half and provided some great passes in the second, including that clear through for Pedro. He was at fault for the goal sure, but it was by no means an awful performance.

I understand it completely. In the first half he lost the ball for us so many times, he keeps getting caught out, he was also the player at fault for the second goal we conceded. He may have played a few nice passes here and there, but errors can't be ignored. He just doesn't look like he has the legs to play where he plays, he's been found out.

Fabregas behind RLC.....

Okay. lol

One bad game and youll have RLC sold.

You're right. The first 7 games didn't play Cesc into form but the 8th will and RLC has been so poor with his chances that we obviously shouldn't waste time with our most promising academy product since Terry. No way he should get a chance to start ahead of a massively out of form starter, especially when is much better suited to the role physically.

Or otherwise put, after 1 start and 2 sub appearances Mikel has as many assists as Fabregas in 7, and much better passing percentage too. Also doesn't really make sense that I would want a promising academy player sold for 1 bad game when I'm merely calling for 30 million CM to merely take a seat take a seat after the 7 games and -3 GD with 14 already conceded.

Bravo, couldn't have said it any better!

Fabregas is a major reason the team struggles to hold it's own in midfield, but on the ball, he has the potential to make some key passes and you can see why JM keeps him on. Maybe it's time to make Matic and RLC the main duo simply to have some physicality in there. Fabregas and Oscar can fight it out for that more advanced role.

Fabregas was clearly at fault for the 2nd goal and the way he lost his man was absolutely embarrassing but on another note why didn't we have anyone on the posts?

If I remember correctly we did used to keep players at the posts last season

I don't care what else he did during the match, but his total lack of effort when Newcastle scored their second was simply unacceptable.

Sometimes he looked like he is scared to put in a challenge or to mark his opponent tightly. The second Newcastle goal really illustrated that reluctance of his to track Wjinaldum after he spotted him running into the centre.

It feels like he is only motivated to put in effort to his game when he has the ball (and even so, he may lose the ball or misplace a pass frequently). Without the ball, he somehow lost his sense of positioning and his will to fight.

Oh well, it's still early in the season and I hope he gets back that form of the first half of last season soon.

He usually starts the season on fire and then fizzles out during the latter half of the season. Hopefully this is not his "good form" for this season.

cesc is trying his hard to test jose patience.. so ironic, it's actually his favorites that letting him down the most..

Like most people, really annoyed with the way he defended that corner. Fair enough if he made an effort and beaten by the much taller man, but he just let the guy go for it. His inability to bring the ball out from defensive area has been a huge issue this season, too many chances were created for opposition when half our players were upfield while Cesc lost possession brining/passing the ball out of deep area.
