The John Obi Mikel Goal Scoring Thread

Featured Replies

Now there's less pressure, it wouldn't hurt would it. We can always see the same Mikel we have seen for the last 10 years, get a lot out of that.

And there's even less will to perform. I wouldn't expect an improvement from Matic when the whole team don't seem to give a sh*t anymore. Then again, there are still five games to play, I think he will start in at least two of them.

its a bit silly to criticise him in this specific way.

in the match thread I was reading criticism of him and the central defenders as if subbing cahill out for zouma or mikel out for matic would have made a huge difference. people were actually making criticisms thinking they were seeing poor individual performances rather than a poor collective performance. I'm not saying he was great or anything but to me it was so obvious that, aside from the fact the squad is mentally on the beach, all of our problems were structural. we were repeatedly opened up in open play and in counter attacks within 4 passes. that is a consequence of structure rather than a consequence of any one individual.

So true. Nobody was really "bad" in any way. The overall team perfomance was weak due to how Hiddink set it up or how they were not able to do what was asked.

How do you know Matic wouldn't perform better now? His had a break and like i have said it makes more sense than playing Mikel, but don't Guus will ever drop him.

I wouldn't mind paying a club to take him off us.

Maybe we can arrange a Torres, and ship him off to AC Milan on loan whilst paying his contract. Just don't let him anywhere near the first team.

He has been taking sh*t from our own fans since day one, he is not Makelele or Essien. He was in a team with World class players his entire Chelsea career, he is a squad player at best. When call upon he was usually decent at times even error prone but he is usually singled out since he is not a ''big'' name.

Don't need to pay a team because you have to believe he is still sellable, but for me he sums up everything wrong with the midfield at the moment - slow, lethargic, unimaginative, unambitious and the City game highlighted that for the umpteenth time. When you look at the Marchisios, the Vidals, the Nainggolans, the Pogbas etc. that Conte has worked with throughout his career I honestly don't see a future for him.

Maybe China or Turkey is a better place for him to see out his career and still earn a decent whack, especially as he's entering the last year of his contract.

He's going to develop into our best CB since JT under Conte  :good2:

And there he busts the CB bubble right before it began.

Gets beat to a header by a much shorter player and then tries to blame Baba for his own incompetence. Also shows up how he is far from a leader as could ever be.

Crap player and increasingly a crappier person.

Why exactly?

Trying to shift blame at a youngster for his mistake when that youngster is himself going through a tough patch.

I dont like judge players at a personal level since I only get to see their professional side, but dont think any decent man would try to blame a junior (already in a tough position) for their mistakes at work.

Not to mention all the mouthing off about Mourinho once the man has been fired, kicking a man when he is down.

When did he do this?

Think it's a bit harsh to call him a crap person. He's always had a bit of a reputation but nothing malicious.

Anyway, he's a bad central defender. If he plays there against Spurs then I think we're in trouble. Also not a natural leader by any stretch and has always needed better players around him.

When did he do this?

I might be going overboard a bit, but he was clearly gesturing in the direction of Ivanovic and Baba after the ball bounced in.

Maybe it was someting else and I shouldnt be making judgements on personal character of football players but it did not look nice.

As for his comments about mourinho

That's what you were referring to another the young player? Absolutely nothing in it.

There's a reason certain players get into that idiots team...the same reason he somehow manages to have a job on the BBC.

Also managed to pick a man at left-back who was actually playing left-wing. Makes you wonder if he actually watches the games.

And claims that a 28 year old Fabregas is in the twilight of his career. I've never seen one person talk so much brown.

haha "did not look nice". If you judge players based on how they react to conceding a goal or how they overall act on the pitch then they are all "crap" persons.
