Jose has the look of a man with no faith in his players ....

Featured Replies

It has got to be said, I have seen the un-edited version of his after match press conference today and I strongly believe there will be changes a plenty to our squad in the summer.

I think it is remarkable we sit 3rd in the table and almost 1st in our qualifying champions league group as well as being in an advanced position in the League Cup.

Jose has tried hard to install the winning mentality he had last time round and with Inter but certain players have failed to follow his lead and so produce inconsistent performances.

For me, Luke Shaw is the first player who should arrive in the summer, a Chelsea fan, young and confident with the touch of a young Gareth Bale about him. Ashley Cole is one of the players Jose is clearly unhappy with and Dave has proved he can also play left back.

So it is Shaw in, Cole out.

Lukaku should be given the nod, so it is him in Ba, Torres and Eto'o ( after he bags 20 goals this season ) out.

We need one top class striker around 27 and a 23 year old to compliment our strike force.

Courtois needs to be in our squad, Big Pete is letting in too many goals of late and needs to be pressurised, if the kid is motivated enough he will become our NO1.

We need a deep lying player, Alonso for me has the Jose mentality.

We also need a top quality Centre Back Jose can trust.

Above all Jose needs to implement his signings on this squad.

I strongly believe he will and we will win the Premiership in 2014/15 with a team built around

the two untouchables Oscar and Hazard.

As good as they have both been at times this season, I certainly wouldn't class them as "untouchables". In fact, they are a good example of our total inconsistency. They are not Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta - brilliant just about every game. Too many of our players are great for a couple of games and then poor and you won't win trophies or be hard to beat with that sort of inconsistency.

I believe Cech is failing his audition with Jose.

Remember, we have the hottest goalkeeping talent in the world waiting in the wings and Jose will have to make a decision.

I suspect Courtois is getting the keeper's shirt.

LB? We'll have a new one next season.

CB to partner Terry? Ditto.

There'll definitely be a new central midfielder and they'll definitely be a new striker or two, including Lukaku.

That's half a team and that's just for starters.

Yes folks, we're going to splash the cash, which seems incredible after everything we've spent, embarrassing even.

If Porto are out of the CL this window, the deal for Mangala might just be done then.

Too many players are not up to the task, not if you set the bar high, and we all know who those names are.

I don't know if it's embarrasing, we should get a lot of cash back for the players who move on.

I would say we probably only have 3 players who are having good games game after game, not just a few good games here and there.

For me those players are Terry, Azpilicueta and Mata, the rest are so inconsistent and it's incredibly frustrating. Terry just always seems to be commanding and in control, Azpilicueta since coming in has gone up a level from last season, his consistency and work rate has been the best i have seen from any of our players all season. Mata, even when he is having a quiet game, like today, always offers something great because of his passing and ball control.

The rest of the team need to look at these 3 players and realise that this is the level they need to constantly play at to become winners.

I posted this in the Torres thread but im gonna post it here too:

Lets just wait and see how Van Ginkel looks once hes back and how Chalobah progresses. We just might need just 1 CM to start alongside Rami with Van Ginkel, Lampard and Chalobah being squad players next year.

As far as strikers go, getting Torres, Ba and Etoo off our books would offset the cost of a new striker significantly. Not to mention Rooney and Lewandowski actually being cheap options.

If Jose decides Courtois is gonna be our first choice keeper then we could get 15-20M from the sale of Cech.

Some of our AMs will leave, Cole, Essien and/or Mikel

We could end up transforming our squad significantly for 'just' 50M

Our 2nd string is probably the best in the league.  Problem is the first team options arent much better. So we can actually get a lot of money by selling players who arent getting game time here.

What about Romeu ? apparently he is having a very good season so far with Valencia.

He played 1 league game so far

our squad has enough to beat Stoke, it just didn't fall into place today.  i am concerned about the goals we are conceding it's so unlike us and i'm sure Jose will address that. the majority of contributors on Shedend are looking for a new striker - I'm sure we'd have won today with Lukaku up front - what we missed against a big physical defence was a big physical forward; I can't see Shawcross coping with Lukaku in full flight.

I don't think there's any need to despair just yet, all things considered we are having a good season with a few low points. a little bit of strengthening up front in January and we'll be alright until the summer

It hasn't even been six months for f**k sake. Tired of these f**king kneejerk threads every time a result doesn't't go our way.

A result like this happens way too often now, and even when we win, its very rarely a great performance. Fricken kneejerk all the time, what are we supposed to say then? That we're awesome and playing great, but just a little unlucky? And we will the next one easily again?

Short term mentality unfortunately.

Do we want to change our style of play and get an identity? Of course we do. Do we want to grow into a consistent team? Again, of course. We have most of the foundations. We're building already. We develop every game.

Jose said in his press conference the other day that we have a long way to go. If he's in it for the long term, then I have every faith in him delivering the finished article.

We have a right to be annoyed at results, but don't come on the thread spewing sh*t you know is bollocks in an effort to get some ignorant trolls agreeing with you.

Look at Man City for example. A world class squad. Far more the finished article than we are yet they're still behind us and inconsistent as f**k.

I am usually not the critic, but does every defeat mean we need to buy 5 new players? We have a squad to compete and we will compete for the title. We are currently letting too many goals in but our back line is the same from last season and this hasn't happened last season that often. We will just need to regroup and go game by game keep the faith blue brothers.

Not sure a total overhaul is necessary. This is the same issue we've been having since at least 2008. We're just terribly complacent and inconsistent.

The answer isn't a stack of new shiny players from far away leagues. Its an injection of specific mentality. The mentality that our team just doesn't posses right now. We get ourselves up for the big matches but we just dont for these kind of fixtures that are important to winning the league.

It's hardly a kneejerk reaction when many of us have been saying for months on end that we need better strikers, central midfielders and arguably a centre-back too.
