The Great Summer Clear Out!

Featured Replies

Well Jose has done more dealing in this window than most of us anticipated. And at his prezzer today he hinted at a top line striker coming in the summer, hooray!

But for all these players coming in FFP and Mourinho moulding his own team means a good few current players will be leaving as well. So, what do you reckon? Who will Jose give the elbow? Here's my list;

1. Luiz. Big bucks beckon for our curly haired jokster. Can pass a ball but is all over the shop defensively and couldn't hold a position if his feet were nailed to the floor. Jose doesn't trust him enough either in our back four or our midfield.

2. Mikel. I like him more than most on here but the arrival of Matic and the return of Van Ginkel, plus possibly Chalboah means Mikel has far greater competition and may be surplus to requirements.

3. Torres. Can I just type that again because it feels good. Torres! Yes indeedy as Mr Bramo appears to be taking a back seat on transfer targets and team affairs, and not before time I might add, his personal fave is rapidly becoming second choice to a 32 year old who has spent the last two years in the Russian league. Jose knows second rate when he sees it. Especially when it cost £50 million and the monetary depreciation will be huge. But what can you do? When he does go, sorry, if he does go, you are all invited to a Lets Move On party round my house.

4. Ba. Feel genuinely sorry for him because he arrived as one of the in form EPL strikers and the Fat Spanish Waiter rotated the sh*t out of him. Then to be fair Jose hasn't given him a fair go either. Will go to another EPL club and we will get decent dollar for him.

5. Bertrand. Luke Shaw coming in will soften the blow of losing one of the few homegrowns to have made the leap to our first XI.

6. Another one of the oldies. We have already said goodbye to one of our legends with the departure of Essien. I have a gut feeling that one of Lamps, Cole, JT or Cech may also be leaving this summer as Jose looks to rebuild. Remember, nothing lasts forever people and we must look to the future.

Torres won't go. He'll see out his contract.

Ba, Mikel and Eto'o are dead certs to go.

Lamps and Cech will go imo. Terry and Cole will stay. Depends on the Bertrand situation.

Cole, Torres, Ba, Bertrand, and Lampard will all be gone.

I can see us keeping Luiz and Terry if not for their occasional flashes of brilliance (JT is more consistent) but for the effect they have on their team mates.

Cole makes way for Shaw

Torres makes way for Lukaku / Costa / Falcao (take your pick)

Ba makes way for (see above)

Lampard makes way for Thorgan Hazard.

Bertrand makes way for Zouma.

Weren't you the one who said torres was on his way the minute jose was announced as manager and that he wouldn't even get a training session?

Also don't know what's given you the impression that jose doesn't trust luiz in midfield. He was moved into there when ramires was suspended and played every game since apart from wednesday which i suspect was because he wanted him fresh for city.

Either one of ba or torres will stay because we won't be signing 3 strikers. Lukaku will come back along with a big name striker and I suspect our strikers will be torres, lukaku and new striker

Ba and Eto'o most likely gone, Torres will see out his contract.

Cole will go and hopefully Shaw will come in and depending if Zouma stays with us next season, if José feels he is ready then one of the CB's will probably be off as well, or at least 'demoted' to a squad role.

Can see Bertrand and Mikel go as well, Lampard is 50/50.

Cech v Courtois situation will be very interesting, despite everything Cech has done for this club and for the legend he is, if the club had to choose the pick has to be Courtois, he is the future.

We have so many players on loan as well its insane, hopefully one can be promoted at least, Thorgan Hazard, Piazon or Chalobah etc

Then just give us a Costa or Cavani with Lukaku coming back and we look so strong!

So, the point of the thread, apart from Ba or Torres, who do think is going in the summer?

Many of this already posted plus at least 50% of those that are currently out on loan including young Josh…can't keep sending him on loan forever

I think we will sell Ba, Luiz, Mikel and loan out the usual youngsters maybe bringing Piazon in. Cole will leave I think and I don't see Lampard staying either. Eto'o will be gone and probably look to sell some of the boys on loan like Marin and Moses too.

We hopefully will bring in Shaw and a top striker which is all we really need.

Every year we say we'll have a Summer clearout and it never happens

Mind you this might be the first summer in a while we have had some sort of security and long term goal

Definitely.

We finally have a man who we can trust with transfer dealings and clearances. Let him do his thing.

Lamps & Cole ... Time has caught up with our legends. Luiz to Barca because he's not Jose's man and FFP is now being taken seriously. Ba to leave and Eto too. Kalas may leave. Hilario finally! Davila, Romeu, Moses, Josh, Marin, Bertrand, Van Annholt, Kakuta are all surplus to requirements now and have no future at this club. I'd like to see as many as poss' moved on due to FFP, if this helps?

Personally, I'd love to see Torres & Mikel go, but won't happen ... due to Contracts signed up to ...

I must've missed something because whenever I see Cole play he's as good as ever. He was dropped a few games after his injury but from what I see on the pitch he's still got it and should be 1st choice.

I do think Ivanovic should make way for Azpi though, in terms of starting at right-back.

Torres would've been gotten rid of long ago if weren't for politics and the shortage of strikers in the market.

Personally I think all the oldies could warrant another extension, but Lampard seems to be the one that is under performing at the moment, he's got to start shining like he did last season for hope of another year.

I think youve missed a lot. Bar 2 or 3 games this season, hes been poor

Ba and Mikel are both almost certain to go, only reason they haven't already is due to the injuries of Torres (recently) and MvG (Summer) I believe?

Eto'o is apparantley going back to Mallorca although I wouldn't mind him staying on for another season or two. However with Lukaku returning plus Torres for some reason always getting significant game time, plus another big striker supposedly on the way, I don't think there is room for him.

Jose may try his best in offloading Torres, but I don't think he'll be successful.

Ash will go and Bertie will stay on to compete with Shaw.

But yeah I think that is it, Ba/Mikel/Cole to be offloaded.

Why is Mikel a certainty to go? He's 26, and I think his best days are ahead of him, late peaker like Carrick for example. West ham away - he was MOTM for me.

You may well be right Jonty. There hasn't been the slightest hint of another club being interested in signing him reported in the media. Certainly no one would offer him anywhere near the contract he has with us plus we would be lucky to recoup £10 mill in any sale.

But if Jose wants to off load him but Torres wants to stick around for the dosh, I can see him being next seasons Demba Ba in terms of minimum game time and third choice. Another option might be a Veron type arrangement where he goes out on loan and we still cover a portion of his £175k a week. Not ideal but certainly on option. Personally I hope he is a part of any deal to bring Costa from Athletico.

I also think McEachran will go permanently in the summer.

I personally don't think Lukaku will cut it at Chelsea. His mouth will let him down with Jose

agreed. I've said this before. I think lukaku will be sold. his form this season isnt great:

9 goals in 26 games this season (having scored once in his last 7 games)

torres has 8 goals in 23 games this season.

lukaku isn't the answer.

no idea why my last post came out looking like that. Anyway, I genuinely believe we will sell some of the talent out on loan, including lukaku. to clarify (instead of rifling through that mess of a post above), if you look at lukaku's stats this season, his goals to games ratio is worse than torres.
