Shevchenko vs Torres vs Kezman

Featured Replies

I was going to mention Sutton! And Casiraghi but then he did suffer that horrific injury :(

We've not been the smartest in the transfer market when it comes to strikers... but then we also bought Drogba and that makes up for the majority of them.

PS- add Mutu too.

Kezman was limited but much better a purchase than the other two, at least he never went hiding he just wasn't quite good enough.

Come on dude it's Torres. He's been WAY f**kING BETTER than Kezman or Shevchenko.  FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, currently top of the table in the Premier league. Chelsea have been way more successful with Torres than with Kezman or Shevchenko.

Agree with this 100%.

Compared to the money we payed for the other 2 it was a cracking signing! People also forget Kezman scored a winning goal in a Cup Final for us and also led the forward line very well on one of the clubs greatest ever nights (and results)

What did we pay? £6 million ? Yes he wasn't that good but in a different ballpark to the other pair of momental failures he is being compared to here.

To be honest I think Sheva was the best out of the three. Like the other two, he never lived up to expectations and the return on the investment was insufficient. But Sheva scored some vital goals for us, for example in both cup ties against Tottenham and at the Mestalla. Also, his goalscoring ratio was the best of the three.

But Sheva's most significant contribution by far was the effect his arrival had on Drogba. We played two up front for large parts of that season and Sheva acted as a useful foil for Drogba, who had easily his best season to that point for us. On a psychological level too, It seemed as though Sheva's arrival was the proverbial kick up the backside which Drogba needed to elevate his game.

Great thread. Depressing but great.

Add Paul Furlong to the list.

How bloody dare you.

Kezman was the best value for money (not that that is saying much)

Sheva was the best striker of the 3

Torres well...he won a corner in a Champions League final.

As for the 'overall' contribution I have say Torres……I think his shirts outsold the other two - 9th in the world last year I think…as far as the VFM …not so good.

Who's been better for Chelsea??

Without question it has to be Torres. For that goal against Barca in the Nou Camp alone, never mind the one in the Europa Final last year. And he's still improving...............................................!!!

Shevchenko.... for this goal alone

In all seriousness, Torres has been the best of all three. But I'm not sure why Kezman is included here? He was a cheap player who didn't make it in the Premier League and NEVER a superstar prior to joining. Shevchenko and Torres were both world class at some point before joining us so comparing the two is fair enough.

It should also be noted, Torres was younger and had far more Premier League experience too.

Oi! Kezman was a superstar for the whole of Eindhoven! Well, the PSV part of Eindhoven anyway :-)
