Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

I have no problem with Costa shoving it up Coleman's a** after the goal, and I have no problem with Howard getting in Costa's face afterwards.

They did battle between the whites, made up after the final whistle. Good football all around.

In ice hockey sh*t disturbers are part and parcel. I for one loved it, Costa is someone you love to have on your team and everybody despises playing against. It's a sword that cuts both ways though as we saw with the yellow card, but all in all I think its harder for the other team to play against when there is that fear factor. The other teams are definitely intimidated by him and you can tell when they try to go mano a mano instead of just playing football and that's how you know his shtick is working.

Costa does have a temper it's been highlighted here now. I do worry that in real pressure cooker environments that he might snap if provoked too much. He did hold it together well when Howard lost his cool. Loved the taunting of Coleman though I have to say. Got his own back

It did seem to me like the opposing players (Coleman especially) were trying to provoke a reaction from him, but he didn't really bite and they just ended up frustrating themselves. He's clearly no angel but he seems to be able to mostly control his aggression (he's not a violent hot-head on the level of Joey Barton, for example) so I'm much less concerned about his temperament than I was before he signed for us.

He's also had a pretty raw deal from refs so far. Booked for diving against Burnley when he was taken out by the keeper, and booked yesterday when it was Coleman who was doing the holding and pushing. The Costa I was expecting would have chinned or kicked someone and been sent off, so at least he kept his cool.

Coleman deserved everything he got, trying to get a player sent off on purpose is one of the worst things you can do. I'm sure Costa will get in more trouble though and we all know what will happen if someone like Foy is the ref.

Martinez harping on about Costa and EPL etiquette.

In recent EPL history we have seen players bitten, head butted and stamped on amongst other incidents.

My question, is their an etiquette amongst the players in the EPL ?

Martinez is just trying to fit in with the locals so hes playing the bitter victim. Couple of jabs about history and his on his way to being a proper scouse

Crazy to think Lukaku was valued at only £4m less than Costa isn't it?

That's not a dig at Lukaku but I just think we might have got a real bargain in Costa.

Cost half the price of Di Maria, who's going to have a bigger impact on the Premier League in their debut season? I'm backing our new number 19.

Definitely, think we lucked out with Costa's price due to his contract. Had he had a different contract we may have had to have paid up to about £50 million.

Well some of the Everton fans aren't happy with Martinez at the start of this season, he clearly needs to sort his defensive problems out

That's not something he's good at, all his previous teams had a poor defensive record. Last season the Everton players still had the benefit of the solid defensive organisation instilled into them by Moyes through the years, but that can't keep forever and Martinez's flaws will show more and more this season.

Humans are fallible. Referees and linesmen read the news and have concluded (like many of us) that Costa is a ticking time bomb. After Suarez, officials will overreact to any 'bad eggs' If he continues to keep his cool and not boil overbthe overreaction of officials will soon subside. I'm far more concerned about him getting injured. Especially around the Christmas period. Other than that, he is exactly what we have needed. He is a man that will give 110%, ruffle feathers and most importantly as a striker SCORE GOALS.

From I guy I couldn't stand a few months back to a guy I absolutely love today!

Football eh

Thought the reffing performance yesterday was one of the worst cases of officiating i've seen for some time. All of the refs are judging costa by reputation and booking him when he's done f**k all wrong! how howard wasnt sent off TWICE i have no idea

Lukaku pisses me off. Hate how all his team mates work hard for the team while he just puts his hands in the air and looks pissed off when they don't deliver an inch perfect ball for his lack of movement.

Utter c**t. Glad he's f**ked off.

I love him and all, but he needs to keep calm. He wasn't the only player who was provoked by Everton players but he was the only one who let them rile him up and decided to act like a d*ck. Just watch other teams use his temper and reputation against him. Refs won't be kind to him.
