Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Thought he played well tbh, started like he was going through the motions but grew into the game more as it went on.

The goals will return, surprised he never took the pen last night tbh.

Thought for sure it would be him or Shurrle. Both of them needed a goal more than Cesc did.

Although costa is great and still has a lot to give, i personally don't think he'll be as prolific as ronaldo, aguero, suarez, henry, etc. I fully expect him to score many goals, but i'm still hoping for the day that we either bring a youth player through or buy a striker who will become a 30-40 goal a season guy like the aforementioned guys. If costa actually does become that guy, it would be amazing, but i still have my doubts.

The thing is, he isn't a type of striker who can pull a goal out of nothing unlike the guys i mentioned. Costa seems more like the type of striker who relies purely on distribution, rather than creating his own chances. I think Remy is more a striker who will create from nothing, as he's proved this in the past, and this is why i think he's severely underrated and doesn't deserve to be third choice when he could walk into most top 3/4 teams in europe and be their first choice.

I believe Remy will have his chance to shine during big games.

And when it comes to Costa he has plenty of support to become a top scorer in BPL. But yeah I agree with you, he's different type of striker.

If we have to rely on our strikers to create something out of nothing we might as well give up and go home.

If Remy were that good then more teams would have been in for him, especially with his low buy out clause.

He's a good player and had he been with us last season he would have been our first choice striker for sure but he's nowhere near Costa's level in my opinion and he's even struggling to get game time ahead of DD right now.

I'm chuffed we signed him but he's not a striker to lead the line for title challenging side for me.

Well arsenal and liverpool were interested, and I'm sure others may have been, however, his medical history would probably deter a lot of potential buyers. I personally think remy is a lot more natural of a finisher than Costa is, but costa has also been able to prove himself for a top 3 side unlike remy. When you look at remy's stats and scoring record, it's pretty damn good for a player who's never had world class players around to supply him all the time, and has been moved about from club to club via loan deals etc.

And why are clubs loaning him instead of buying him if he's that good?

Costa only last season had a chance to play in a top side as the attacking focal point and he earned that right through hard work and ability.

I think you are underrating Costa's finishing personally. Recently his strike rate was a one goal for every three shots on target, the league average was something like one goal to every twelve shots on target.

I'm not buying the questionable health myself, I think Liverpool leaked that as a way if backing out of the deal at the last minute because they caught wind that Balotelli was available.

He's passed medicals with QPR, Newcastle, the French National Team and Chelsea within 2.5 years, if his fitness were an issue that many big sides wouldn't go anywhere near him.

For years we were bemoaning the lack of a striker who could put away the chances that our creative players would make in abundance....now Costa is being criticised because that's all can do?

He's having a rough bit of form which isn't unusual for a player coming to a new league. The difference is that his rough patch is coming after he's already scored 11 goals for us.

Wut the fork are you saying brah?

That lad just scored 36 goals last season more than, Aguero, Suarez, ever managed. And I think he's scored like 1 goal less than Aguero if you remove Aguero's Penalties.

But yeah I do agree he's the type of striker who relies on service and his finishing rather then creating chances for himself and shooting more. On the other hand Aguero and Suarez are the type of strikers who can create chances for themselves and shoots much more than Costa.

He also passed the mandatory FIFA World Cup medical, which has no vested interest in his signing. Liverpool are talking bollocks.

and another great goal today. 13 goals in 15 PL games? Is that it? It´s a good number, but it´s also important that he helps others creating goals, even when he is not scoring.
