December 8, 201510 yr See Christensen played the whole 90 minutes in the Gladbach side that beat Bayern Munich 3-1 at the weekend. We DON'T need to spend £40M on another defender. That's a defence that hasn't lost in over 2 months I think
December 8, 201510 yr That's a defence that hasn't lost in over 2 months I think Then let's get Christensen back and sign the other three defenders whilst we're at it!!!
December 8, 201510 yr Then let's get Christensen back and sign the other three defenders whilst we're at it!!! At this point I'd be looking at promoting tammy from the youth team
December 8, 201510 yr Always looked a class act for the youth team. Very composed and calm. Only got a couple of games here at right back last year, is there a centre his age doing better in Europe this season? I honestly think we have at least 7 players that could go to the top out of our youth team. Aina, da silva, christiensen, baker, ake, rlc, boga, musonda, solanke, and Abraham, all have world class potential. The argument of no big clubs really play the youth is flawed imo. We have arguably the best group of youngsters in world football, we should be heavily integrating them into the 1st team.
December 8, 201510 yr i can now see why he was being paid so much money per week by the club in the youth ranks; he is obviously one of the standouts. if only all the youth products developed the same way. i think musonda is a player that must also be given a chance or sent on loan to a decent side.
December 8, 201510 yr At this point I'd be looking at promoting tammy from the youth team Tammy has his own thread Barak but yes, I agree!
December 8, 201510 yr Apart from letting Silva beat him to a header, (which was odd as he didn't even challenge for it. Only possible logical reason I can think of is that he got a shout to leave it) I thought he did well despite the 4 goals. Edited December 8, 201510 yr by Remodez
December 9, 201510 yr As long as Mourinho is here none of those top young players will get a proper chance here, although I can see Christensen as a possible exception. Edited December 9, 201510 yr by Slooshee
December 12, 201510 yr I actually think the decision made on Christensen will tell us more about whether we will ever see a young player come through than rlc. It's ideal next season to bring him back and play him. agreed - John Stones or Christensen? £30m or play our own guy....
December 12, 201510 yr Whelp, his team just conceded 5 goals. Only the 5th goal was his fault where he switched off and let the striker get a run in behind, although by that stage I would imagine he just wanted the game to end. Edited December 12, 201510 yr by Remodez

I would (almost) happily write this season off if we were seen to bring some of those you mentioned through to the first team.
December 21, 201510 yr I had the opportunity to watch more of the Bundesliga recently (a Canadian broadcaster lost part of the rights to the Premier League, so they started showing the Bundesliga instead) and I had the opportunity to see a few 'Gladbach games. I have to say his approach to the game and his technique reminds me of Carvalho. We have a really good player on our books with loads of technique and pace as well, which could be beneficial in the high-line which we're trying to play. However, he needs work on his decision making and his awareness, but that should come with time. The games I watched, he committed a few silly fouls in dangerous areas (like a said a Carvalho equivalent ), but he still seemed very solid. I think he would be a better partner to Terry than Zouma, but I would be curious to see a tandem of him and Zouma in the next pre-season. One downside to his game is that like Zouma and Cahill, he is deployed on the right side of the CB pairing. Edited December 21, 201510 yr by Plavi26
February 5, 201610 yr A [not overwhelmingly positive] analysis of Christensen's performance against Dortmund: http://everyteamneedsaron.com/2016/01/30/andreas-christesen-vs-dortmund-230116/
February 5, 201610 yr A [not overwhelmingly positive] analysis of Christensen's performance against Dortmund: http://everyteamneedsaron.com/2016/01/30/andreas-christesen-vs-dortmund-230116/ It’s worth bearing in mind that a) I tend to be fairly critical in writing these and b) he’s only 19. For his age, he is certainly at a good level, and he would not be playing at Borussia Mönchengladbach regularly if he was bad. I'll agree with that.
February 5, 201610 yr The next sentence concerns me though: However, his limitations in his awareness makes me think that his talent ceiling, the upper reaches of what his ability he can reach, isn't *that* high. Obviously I'm not going to base my opinion on a single blog article, but considering he has been touted as a successor to JT around here it doesn't bode particularly well...
February 5, 201610 yr The next sentence concerns me though: Obviously I'm not going to base my opinion on a single blog article, but considering he has been touted as a successor to JT around here it doesn't bode particularly well... But surely you can remember way back to 98 when JT was just starting off, could you honestly say back then he looked like a top world class defender at the time ?
February 5, 201610 yr Having only watched him a handful of times, however in the bigger games so where it counts more, I obviously can't be certain but I would say his awareness is currently better the John Stones' and John Stones is supposed to be the next best thing since sliced bread so I wouldn't read too much into that statement, positioning and awareness is also something that develops a lot with time.Having also read the post the self dubbed overly critical writer still think he will be a decent player, despite not having that great an opinion of Christensen.I would also like to mention that the instances which with he highlighted (and only instances he could highlight) for Christensen's 'poor' decision making, in both instances he chooses to track the player who in my eyes is the better scoring option so for me that would be the better decision (also the second one is a lose lose and is almost impossible to prevent). He does mention a lot of positives to his play and considering this was from one of his few not so good performances which at 19 you are going to have I don't think the article is too damning of him. February 5, 201610 yr Just as I tune in he scored his first goal of the season. It was a tap in but he did sort of start off the attack judging from the replays.
February 8, 201610 yr Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl, who's confirmed that they will try to sign Christensen on a permanent deal in the summer. "Our intention is to try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer. Andreas fulfils everything we've seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts." -Max Eberl; source: kicker via ESPN FC Eberl also revealed in his interview that Chelsea do not have a recall clause in Christensen's loan contract Surprising there's no recall. Let's hope there is a buy back clause if we intend to sell him
February 9, 201610 yr How is their no recall clause. Thats mind boggling. If we had a crisis (we are getting close) then every player should have a recall clause
