All the threads I've seen on him so far have been locked so thought its best to start up another one now he's back from loan. 

 

Apparently he's signed a new 3 year contract today, replacing Mikel perhaps? I haven't seen anything of him on loan at Valencia, any La Liga afficionados know more? 

Good but not great player.

Not ever going to be more than a bit part player for us.

If he's content to play that role then who am I to complain?

not good enough really. Defensive work isn't great so he was dropped.

Romeu had a great potential just before he got injured. I hope, he has recovered well. He still could help a lot with the team.

Could do a job for a mid/lower table team, no more.

Though he was decent before the injury, seemed a little immobile afterwards. No idea how he got on in Spain last year mind. Not sure how people are coming to the conclusion he isn't good enough bearing in mind its been pretty much 2 years since he last played for us, i assume they all saw every game he played for Valencia ?!

 

That said, its certainly a surprise. I wonder if the club are protecting his value and hoping a successful loan will attract suitors. More likely Mikel is off and Romeu will be kept to play as a holding midfielder and/ or to provide depth at CM.

Probably just so we can get better money for him next summer. I think he will be in the shop window on loan again this year.

His passing was a breath of fresh air, created all sorts of problems for defenders. He's not the quickest but he gets stuck in and presses really well.

 

I think injury has ruined whatever chance he had of making it here, which is a shame cause he was great prior to the injury.

Very surprised to see he signed a new contract. Anything to do with Fabregas..? Those two have talked for sure. 

Strange, can't see him being involved. Maybe jujst to push his price up a bit to sell him later on.

I'm a bit baffled by this as I did think that he would be out the door this summer. However, I was impressed when Oriol played under AVB so if he can replicate that form again then all well and good.

 

Watch him go out on loan now I've said that!

I believe he is the perfect player for Jose to make something of, unfortunately for him the amount of quality opposition for getting a chance is sky high

I think he has a lot of potential, far more than the ShedEnd golden boy McEacheran.

He did half a great few months under AVB before injury, he really added something else to the squad.

I think some people are overplaying his contribution when fit, I remember him having 1 very good game, some decent games and a couple of stinkers, all before his injury.

Totally agree with this, I think some people were getting carried away with him, just because it wasn't mikel.

To be fair that is something to celebrate.

I thought he was a decent player up until the injury, who knows how he has developed in Spain?

If he's gotten back on track he'll be a very good squad player.

I really rated him when he played under AVB. I still think he has a role to play here. 

First Romeu signed for three years, now he is loaned to Stuttgart. His value will increase & most likely he is sold after next season. The good old Chelsea's way.

Well at least the new contract makes sense now. 

From Chelsea's point of view his willingness to sign it, it does make sense.

Apparently he wants a stable starting spot and wants to give up the 'loanee lifestyle':
