I've been quietly thinking that it would take something approaching a miracle for us not to win the title this year, but having seen this thread I'm now starting to have doubts.

I was only joking....Honest, I am never confident until its Mathematically impossible for anyone to catch us...(but in my flights of fancy we win it in front of Liverpool, I also win the lottery and suddenly sprout an extra 6 inches on my legs and bust)

Let the media and Wenger who will be all too happy to see us fail proclaim us champions early.Far too much football to played still, good teams have blown 12 pts leads in the past. United won their first 10 games on the spin in 1985 and were top till Feb only to finish 4th. We are in a good position now, have a manager who will keep us grounded,fingers crossed for no long term injuries to key players and hopefully we will do it.

Sorry but i hate this sort of thing. I'm old school Chelsea and i get nervous whoever we are playing. In 1978-79 we only won 5 games all season three at home and two away. Saying it's just a bit of fun is hiding the cockiness and smugness that in my opinion doesn't reflect well on all Chelsea fans.

Never mind November, we've had some disastrous Christmas/New Year periods over the years. We're currently undefeated, four points clear of Southampton. Ok you can turn round and say it's "only Southampton", they haven't got the squad depth or whatever. But stranger things have happened. The Southampton collapse hasn't happened yet.

Taking nothing for granted, a four point lead means we can afford to slip up once, that's all. Assume that Southampton keep winning, one defeat and the lead is down to a single point. A couple of draws and Southampton are level.

 

We're also eight points clear of Man City. Where were they at this stage last season? Down in eighth or ninth, I think. Looking well off the pace, well out of contention. Man City DO have the squad depth, and may well strenghen in January. As may any number of other teams. If Man City go on a run, and we lose a couple of games, suddenly the gap is down to two points. The pressure is on.

 

A bit of fun? Seriously, the title of this thread should be changed to: "Tempting fate" or "Putting the Mockers on".

Because just when you think you've got it sussed, football, as does life in general, has a nasty habit of turning round and biting you in the arse.
