Transfers Summer 2015

Really? Because of the money or just not liking him? He's better than Oscar.

Very debatable and probably a bit of the grass being greener and all that.

Eriksen is Spurs main playmaker so of course he's going to look more 'creative' because that's his role in the team. Oscar is at best our third playmaker behind Hazard and Cesc and he's tasked with a lot more work defensively. Stick him in Eriksen's spot and I'm sure he'd look just as good (even though he already has more direct goal contributions than Eriksen).

One of Eriksens main assets to me is his set piece danger.

His free kicks are superb.

He isn't an option though and for the money it would end up costing there will be better equipped players out there.

It's not about being better than Oscar though, it's about not going into hibernation after Christmas, top teams can't afford passengers at that point and we don't really have an alternative to Oscar at the minute. That needs sorting

According to a dutch website we are prepared to pay 200mil (euro) for Varane and Bale.

Their source is Daily star apparently.

I think it's more likely we'll sign Messi.

Daily Star is as reliable as me making rumours.

I think we have quite a few options.

Hazard, Willian and Fabregas could all play in that role behind the striker.

Cuadrado's taking an extending holiday whilst acclimatizing to kicking a pig skin around in a different country and so if anywhere we don't have much cover on the wings now we've sold Schurrle so Willian and Hazard are nailed on to start on the left and right.

Fabregas can easily play there but he's been struggling since returning from injury himself.

Just a bit of bad luck on our part right now I think.

Hazard is not used there and neither is Willian though, even when we had cover on the wings those players were not used in those positions.

Cesc I would play there but then you have to use Ramires or Mikel behind him which is far from ideal plus Jose likes his no 10 to do a power of defensive work too which isn't in Cescs game.

Cuardrado and Willian for the right while it's only Hazard really for the left although Remy could be used as he did play out wide at times for both Newcastle and France.

I just think we need another player who is a out and out central attaking midfielder who can go head to head with Oscar and see if having real compeition will see him up his game and not pack his bags aftert Christmas.

We really shouldn't have sold two to bring one in especially when trying to secure a title.

If we're talking of a player who will be a great asset to our team, then koke has got to be one of the main options. The thing is, if atletico do the impossible and win the CL this season, he could well end up staying put. However, he'd be a brilliant addition to our team and I think we should be looking at him.

It is so hard to know who will be bought because we can all theorise what moves we might make in the summer, but at times it seems we're always so far off. In an ideal world we would be looking at all the players mentioned on this thread, but José and the scouts may be looking at entirely different players whom we as fans don't particularly feel are going to improve us much.

I mean we bought cuadrado, luis, remy, and brought drogba back, and none of those players are getting enough chances, having spent nearly 50 million of them. It does make you wonder why we keep spending fortunes on players we aren't going to bother using. I would rather us buy 2/3 players who will really make a difference to our squad, rather than quantity. There are some spaces in the squad that can be taken up by youth. We can all see how ings, kane, berahino, clyne, ibe, sterling, ramsay, oxlaid-chamberlain etc have come on over a short period, so I see no reason why we don't save our money and integrate some youth instead. In the games where there's lack of urgency, I think the youth will give us that extra enthusiasm that is needed in the gritty games.

Anyway, I kind of feel like a broken record regarding the youth integration, but it is something that needs to be done sooner rather than later, especially with the quality in youth we have coming through the ranks right now.

Surely at least 2 of them can make it into the first team. We can't keep making excuses that they are not ready as there are players in our first team who are very inconsistent and, at times make you wonder why they're even being played over a youh player.

Koke is a player many admire.

I can see many clubs being interested in him, can see him at City if Simeone takes that job in the summer.

God I certainly hope not, Koke is f**king brilliant. He'd be one of the few players who would be good enough to succeed David Silva...

So does the same argument also justify Willian's lack of numbers because he is the guy that gets pushed out wide and is also tasked with more defensive work than Oscar?

No he's just not very good.

I saw on rumours page earlier that Simeone is ready to renew contract with Atletico. I really don't think he would take the city job, as man city doesn't strike me as team full of players who are mentally strong tbh.

Hope so.

I'd hate to be up against him in this league.

gundogan is another option if we're talking another defensive midfielder, but it's whether he can stay injury free, and in the EPL that could be hard. I really don't know how many central midfielders are out there that won't cost a fortune. I don't know why we're looking to Pogba as he will cost a bomb.

Khedira would probably be the most realistic and cost effective player in regards to defensive midfield....he himself has injury troubles though.

Watched a bit of Atletico last night Arda Turan was pure class works so hard for the team and very skillful not sure if he would leave Atletico but would love him here.

Okay ONE good cross in how many tries and the only reason why Costa scored is because it was s**t defending and goalkeeping.  If that was Courtois or Cech the goalie would have snatched it before Costa even had a chance to get a head on it.

i got the impression koke will stay at atletico for a while. maybe even spend his whole career there

Probably something to do with being a top class CM despite being in his early 20's

Playing for Chelsea and throwing his boot at the linesman would get him a 2 year ban!

Ivanovic being called a terrible crosser? Are we still in 2010? I would say he's one of the best crossers in the team currently.

I find it interesting how much a converted right back has been able improve his crossing, but Ashley Cole never seemed to be able to do that during his career. I guess Ivan always had it in him.

Should we sign Di Maria? Looking to leave United apparently. If we could get him under 25mil it'd be a very good deal. Perfect for the right wing combining with Hazard and Cesc. He's already played for Jose too.

Although I can see him going to PSG in the summer.
