Transfers Summer 2015

Pogba, a player who is inconsistent, will cost a fortune, and may or may not hack it in the prem. The Italian league is far inferior to the premier league pace and physicality. The guy is getting too much hype and he'll be the next toy madrid get...

The most successful periods in English football have been when English teams had a backbone of homegrown talent, including our periods of success. We need to start intergrating homegrown talent into the team again, f**k all this spending millions and millions on mediocre players.

What we need is someone like Lampard who will have a shot from midfield and isn't afraid to take the responsibility instead of just endless faffing around like the rest of our attack.

But who could that be?

If Pogba goes to Madrid I would take a serious look at Modric, absolute class player

I am not sure It will be Modric whos pushed through the door if Pogba comes. I got the impression Carlo really likes him. Then again, Carlo might not be there at the end of the season

How about everyone moves on from Pogba and looks at our very own Loftus Cheek?

Loftus Cheek looks good at the youth level and he done well when he came on for us, but to put him on the same level as a guy who's played international football at the top level including the World Cup is ridiculous.

He's played on a European stage and numerous times for his international team, he's hardly the smallest built guy either, I think he'd handle the PL just fine.

As for the English spine I agree that would be great however, Terry's & Lampards don't grow on trees.

I'm not saying he's there, I'm simply stating that rather than spend £60 million + on a player why don't we develop our own? Yes it might take a bit of patience but it's so much more rewarding to develop your own guys than simply buy them in all the time.

And he's English.

I agree, but as you say it takes time, time that Roman is infamous for not giving. Look at what Harry Kane said prior to the cup final something along the lines of we should bring through our own like Spurs, it didn't go to well for them in the cup final or in General because they've won f**k all.

I'd love to see us bring through some youth but excuse me for doubting the chances of it, Bertrand won the CL with us, never put a foot wrong when he pulled on a Chelsea shirt, and he was papped out for £10m, even Matic was papped out then we bought him back, I'd be surprised (pleasantly) if any of our youth players made it to be regular starters for us.

I think we should definitely go for quality rather than quantity.

Out

Either of Oscar/Willian For Oscar 40m pounds, Willian 15m

Cech 15m

Drogba 0

Ramires 15-18m

Total: We can recoup like 70m pounds from these players if we sell Oscar and like 55 or so if Willian.

In

Varane- 30-40m

Bale- 60m

Schnieiderlin- 15m I really like this player he's experienced in PL and can either play as a DM/CM and is much better than Ramires.

Total: 105m or so. These signings will make our team reach next level. But I really can't see us dishing out 100m+ unless we really sell Oscar or any other player for big money.

But this only a pipe dream though. In reality there is no way Jose is ever gonna sell his beloved Brazilian work horses and might buy another one called Douglas Costa.

I long for the day when people don't include every other loanee for £1-2m in their proposed "OUT", plus several squad players for £5-10m or thereabouts while bringing in one or two top players. It's not Football Manager.

thorgan hazard

ruben loftus cheek

ake

lewis baker

patrick bamford

bertrand traore

all the above players cost us nothing (barring hazard whom we can buy back) and could easily compete with any senior players in our first team squad. I don't see the use in splashing out another 60-80 million on more players who may or may not be a success. We need a settled squad now, not 4/5 new players added every summer.

Totally agree Enigma. We need 1 our 2 additions depending on whose leaving and the rest needs to be brought through the ranks.

To go:

Remy

Cech

Salah (perm move)

In:

Back up goalkeeper

Returning:

Bamford

MvG

More minutes:

Loftus Cheek

Baker

Ake

The usual sale of youngsters that haven't made the grade or won't get the minutes

Possibly another striker depending on Drogs situation at the end of the season.

I keep forgetting about MVG how is he doing in Italy? Thinking we might have been able to use him this season

Before Christmas he didn’t play very much at all from what I could tell, think he had some injuries too. Not sure if he has played more football since then though.

Strange loan for him IMO.

Struggled with injuries but managed his first full 90 minutes against Fiorentina yesterday, alongside Essien in midfield (Alex was on the bench, Salah was for Fiorentina).

Didn't see the match but at least he managed the full game.

I don't think he's injury prone, he's been very unlucky tho. If he didn't come straight into our first team I'd want him on loan in the PL so we could get a better look at him. I think he'd be decent for us next season tho

why have we not been looking at this kid?! Can't believe the money we've wasted on that right side when we could have thrown money at palermo for this lad.

Watched the Florentina Milan game - most of it.

Van ginkel had hardly featured all season, especially since his injury. Was hard to tell he was playing tbh. At least he wasn't an unused sub as he has been for the last four (?) games.

Nice to see my old favourite the Bison even though he's clearly well past it.

Salah was rested, and Milan were leading one nil until a couple of late goals saw it end 2-1 to Florentina.

I think we should definitely go for quality rather than quantity.

I really rate Schnieiderlin but he is way too good to get for £15M. I reckon he will go for between 25-30M and there will be a lot of clubs after him.
