Is There a Media Campaign Against Chelsea?

Featured Replies

Even-handed? In that each story from each club is given the same prominence? Absolutely not.

By the way you never did answer the question about what your experience of working in the media is. Maybe try that instead of the insults over t'internet ok?

I haven't insulted you. I think you're being overly precious. Strange for someone so rude.

Saying you find someone rather deluded could be taken as an insult. By the way, your experience of the media. Do you have any? I've worded that nicely so you can talk about consuming media and avoid answering it again.

See, I'm not rude at all.

I just find it rather amusing that you of all people find that insulting, and quite frankly, I couldn't really give a toss.

Nor do I care much for answering your questions.

Suffice to say I think you have no real idea how the media works.

Evidently.

I'm quite happy to compare your experience and mine. I'm going to take a wild guess that mine vastly exceeds your's though and that your's is based on Drop The Dead Donkey.

You da man.

Perhaps the media agenda was to get Costa banned so they wouldn't have to endure 90 minutes of "Diego, Diego, Diego" for a while. Jokes aside the chant is a little repetitive now.

Shame it's been sung at both games since.

This does explain why you will not agree that there is an agenda, or any level of biased journalism, when there clearly is, maybe you just don't want to admit it, becuase of some past in that field. But you see favouritism and bs stories in the media everyday, simple fact. I've no doubt that there are some good journalists, but there is an overall majority of them that can't stand us and can't remain professional.

It was much better when Torres was here, we had few occasions to chant our strikers name them.

Blue Daze, you keep alluding to your experience in the media, so spill the beans!

Or are you full of sh*t?

Apparently so.

If we are going to be using this thread a lot can we please rename it ?

What what you like to call it?

here's my suggestion:  Deluded or Paranoid?

You're talking about a number of different things. No journalist is unbiased because that's impossible, but the discussion has revolved around an orchestrated media campaign against this club which is patently absurd. This all kicked off because Jose suggested that Sky Sports had drummed up a story about Costa stamping on a player but there are so many factors that go into deciding whether a story gets such prominence that have nothing to do with sinister ploys.

The one agenda all media outlets have is gaining mindshare/market share. Campaigns/agendas against this club in particular are tin-foil hattery because the one thing people like is to think they're persecuted. Look at the Daily Mail or pretty much any daily newspaper, they give readers either someone to blame for their woes or someone to hate because people find that reassuring. It's much easier for people to blame some 'other' when things go wrong then accept responsibility fully.

We're a massive club so anything we do gets more attention than it does at a smaller club and that goes both ways. So you get greater prominence for stories regarding our youth team but also more focus on our indiscretions simply because there's a greater level of public interest.

But I perfectly understand the allure of a narrative about us being unfairly treated by the 'evil' media/FA (because every story needs a bad guy). Doesn't stop it from being wrong though.
