February 3, 201511 yr Anyone catch any of the game last night against Southampton? Have to say, the first 45 minutes was some of the best attacking football I have see from any Chelsea side. But it was a game of two halves. We went 5-0 (and bare in mind Saints were top of the league!) but it ended up 5-3. Really good game of football. To be honest, Southampton could have gone 2-0 up in the first 5 minutes. But once we weathered that and got into gear we just attacked and attacked and could have hit double figures. All the midfielders and forwards played well but the defence and keeper (as often the case at youth level) struggled. Picks for me were Kasey Palmer and Charlie Colkett and Musonda again looked lively when he came on. Very impressive, especially bearing in mind the likes of RLC, Ake, Christensen, Boga were not even in the squad.
February 3, 201511 yr I've dropped chelsea tv this year and as a result have seen little of our youth teams but its impressive to see how good they continue to be and with so many of the top prospects out on loan. Of those you mentioned do you think any of them will have enough about them to go on and have a top career in the game? For me I think the best chance is if they leave here before they reach 20.
February 3, 201511 yr Author Must admit Barn, I have given up on predicting after nearly putting my life savings on Josh being our future No.10!! Many of the youngsters we currently have already look to be at a very good level. But whether that is enough to go on and make it BIG, is anyone's guess. The danger they have at Chelsea is not just trying to break into the first team with the huge competition and our ability to make big signings at any time, knocking them back but also what is coming up behind them. There is always a new crop of great youngsters, so one minute we are talking about the likes of McEachran, Chalobah, Clifford, Ake and then suddenly they are not the youngsters any more, we now have Boga, Solanke, Palmer, Colkett and so it goes on. But Surely, by the law of averages, ONE of them has to make it! Edited February 3, 201511 yr by Nibs
February 4, 201511 yr Nice positive article about change in youth policy from ashton of the mail - of all people! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2937796/It-s-not-quite-Jody-Morris-cleaning-Dennis-Wise-s-boots-Chelsea-filling-youth-teams-local-heroes.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
February 9, 201511 yr Author Big game for the under 21's tonight against Man Utd away. Should be worth a view.
February 9, 201511 yr I'd never heard about Petrescu and Terry's altercations in the early training sessions, apparently Petrescu kicked him in the arse - sounds bloody hilarious!
February 9, 201511 yr The game tonight is at 7.45 and will be on Chelsea TV. Think I'll try stream that one
February 9, 201511 yr for anyone who's looking for a stream http://www.vipleague.tv/football/23863/1/chelsea-tv-%7C-chelseatv-live-stream-online.html so valdes rejected liverpool to be united u21 regular
February 9, 201511 yr So we're missing RLC and Ake because they've been promoted to the first team squad, and United have Rafael,Young and Victor Valdes in the team.
February 9, 201511 yr Nice to see U21 football on BT Sport. The rule that allows a team to field 3 players over the age of 21 is ridiculous and should be scrapped. Maybe a rule where a player can play in the U21s if coming back from injury would make more sense. Turns out that Rafael is a c**t, whoever he plays for...
February 9, 201511 yr Lucky goal for United... completely against run of play.. now United have momentum
February 9, 201511 yr Don't see what the hype about this Musunda is about. He doesn't look very good to me. Bit lazy as well.
February 9, 201511 yr Don't see what the hype about this Musunda is about. He doesn't look very good to me. Bit lazy as well.Very talented, very quick, good shot on him, bad game.Frustrating game all round. United really don't deserve the win and Rafael had shown his class tonight. February 10, 201511 yr Author Yeah, we were the better footballing side but Utd had that bit more experience and meant it a little bit more in the tackles. But decent performance bearing in mind no RLC, Ake and Boga. Thought Brown had a decent game and Colkett showed a lot of composure on the ball and rarely wasted it.
March 2, 201511 yr a wee bit more quality in the final third and we should get back into this - can't lose to the scousers
