3 points, top of the league, 6 clear with a game in hand and 9 left to play in total, I'd have taken that last August, how about you?

KTF people

Yeah but the way we're playing we could easily drop 9 points when we play Le Arse, Manure and the Scousers.  I really don't want to have to win the league on GD.

Family insults? That's off bounds.

I think sometimes people just get a little bit insulated behind their keyboards. Everyone has disagreements and that's part of football and you'll see some heated ones in any pub after a match but if people are insulting families then it's gone too far.

I always say that people should just treat each other like you would in the pub. At the end of the day we're all Chelsea supporters and the vast majority have probably grown up engaging with other Chelsea supporters. But like I said, the internets is a weird place sometimes and people forget themselves. Doubt it's anything personal.

Top post, I have got out of line myself recently but that's been pure frustration and personal stuff but of course I've been wrong to take it out on people here. I do think a lot of people are just really tense because we all really want the league title.

Don't know if anyone remembers, but right at the end, Hull sneaked a player through the offside trap, can't remember who, but whilst our players were caught flat footed, Zouma was quick to cover and he just did enough to hinder the Hull player enough for Tibo to get the ball.

Agreed and people are different, some are just naturally more pessimistic.

Plenty of people criticised the manager and put it in some context.

Sorry to say it mate but football fans tend to moan. Happens in the stands and it comes from the best of us.

Doesn't make them sh*te fans.

We occasionally fight because we have passion and we desperately want to see our team win the league. I was sitting watching the match with an Arsenal and Liverpool fan and my blood was absolutely boiling as I heard them shouting and laughing, and saw them leap out of their seats when Courtois made his mistake, therefore I said some pretty stupid things, but it's just how it goes when we have passion for our team. We've seen two city managers and Fergie lift the title since we've last won it, it's been too long and it's understandable why some people go a bit mad in the heat of the moment

We were incredibly fortunate to come away with all three points from this game.

Ivanovic was absolutely bollocks and deserves dropping for the Stoke game with Azpi coming in in his stead.

Exactly it's pressure end of the day and many of us are feeling it

On a side note, thought Fabregas was a bit more like his old self today, especially in the first half. Also nice for Willian to get an assist.

Ramires was so poor though, what has happened to this guy? His first touch is staggeringly poor, especially for a Brazilian midfielder! I used to put up with his lack of technique because he could score terrific goals but he doesn't any more. As much as I love his tenacity and the threat he poses on the break, surely we could find another CM who can provide those attributes but that can actually pass and control the ball properly?

Finally it was good to see Felipe Luis get a game. I quite like him as a player, he offers us much more in attack than Dave despite not being as solid defensively. Would like to see him continue against against Stoke, especially as we are at home and because they don't have much of a threat on their RW.

Don't tell me I'll have to support f*cking Liverpool again? Against Man City was bad enough ffs.

No, just hope for a draw, we don't want any team have three points, when they can have one point each & the spare one goes in the bin along with there hopes,

I'm hoping for a draw but Liverpool win would be better than an Arsenal win

Regardless that some are naturally pessimistic, I don't think they should be able to and yes I'll use this term 'spout nonsense' during the game without expecting to be criticized for it, or even insulted for that matter.

I don't like it personally, I much prefer to see optimism on the forum, not blind optimism obviously I like two sided arguments. However I don't see anything wrong with what was said by those who called out the pessimists.

Anyway we have to start performing to a higher standard than this, it's been going on for months now, just not good enough. I was absolutely buzzing when we got off to that start, what got me upset mostly was not the fact they came back and we made mistakes, but the fact that it just turned out to be another sh*te performance from us in the end. I think we need a good performance under our belt to set us up proper. The players just aren't performing to a high standard, if we win the league or not, it's evident we need changes in the summer.

Everyones entitled to their views and opinions just because some don't like it doesn't mean that they're wrong for doing it. I've said before I'm sure for many it's a reverse psychology thing, saying "we're gonna lose" can make them think that the team will win as a result of that comment. It's daft of course but football is surrounded by superstition. I also don't think people getting critisced for it is the problem, it's when they're labelled "not real fans", "plastics", called names and told to f**k off etc etc that's bothered some people.

there is an ignore feature if you don't want to see the things i post

I don't want to do that because the people I've 'ignored' to date have ended up being banned! That would make you touchable instead of untouchable, best not tempt fate.

Pointless exercise putting people on ignnore, along comes other posters quotes what you have posted, back to stage one.

Now the dust has settled

The pundits have had their say

MOTD been & gone.

Chelsea still top of the league

Had a laugh reading the last few pages of this thread

All in all a great result and a gritty performance from Chelsea

and on the plus side it does take the team a step closer to getting their greedy

mits on the premier league trophy on May 24th or sooner

Brilliant game; Ivanovic was MOTM for me, reminded me of Cafu in his prime the way he was marauding down the right flank. Special mention for Willian who got a great assist and had another classy game, proud to have our 3 Brazilians playing for us.

ivan MOTM?  you are kidding right!

By the way we're playing do you mean unbeaten in the league since New Year's Day?

Yup, all signs definitely point to losing a third of our remaining fixtures.

I wasn't particularly convinced of our performance. We're leaking at the back.

We sneaked this win. Let's be honest here. Yes, I am delighted with the 3 points and 6 clear at the moment, but we could've and should've done better.

When you think our run-up to the end, I would be dreadfully worried at our continued 2nd rate form. Can we play at this level against some of what is coming up?

We should not be celebrating just yet, not that we are, but am just saying.

By the way we're playing do you mean unbeaten in the league since New Year's Day?

Yup, all signs definitely point to losing a third of our remaining fixtures.

When 1/3 of those games are against 3 of the top 5

+

We've giving up leads in MULTIPLE games since NYD

Yes, we could easily drop 9 points.

I have faith, but it's not very strong with the form we've been in.

Well that was a long day to hell and back, that's just the game, let alone the journey...we are in a bizarre situation where even if we win the title we clearly need to spend big again in the summer...we are just too easy to score against, no longer look a Jose side that can park the bus...each week more and more players just don't look good enough...then I look at the table and ask how can I be so down on a team that is so far ahead?

Yep. It certainly is a strange old season... But, you are right. We need to bring in some quality players in the Summer.

I get that emotions run high in this game, but seriously seeing people calling for Jose to be gone, blasting him for using players he's got confidence in, saying that we'd just handed the title to Man City (the same Man City who a couple of weeks ago lost to Burnley, ffs) and calls for Carlo to come back are not emotions running high, they are knee-jerk, over the top, hugely misguided posts.

Now, don't get me wrong, today was abysmal, but seriously, their 2nd goal was just due to a comedy of errors on our part and then they jumped on it.  I too thought that Ivan should have been hooked, but then I also agree with someone who posted earlier about Jose making those players go back out there and make right what they put wrong.  We are a couple of players away from being world class, but we have some great players too.  None more-so that Eden Hazard.  Like Mata a few seasons ago, I'd dread to think where we'd be without Eden.

Another thing that I'm having a hard time with is everyone being so defeatist when we are 6 points clear, and have a game in hand against Leicester.  Even if it ended a draw today, we'd have been 4 points clear with a game in hand.  Now, lets put our current position into perspective a little.  In the earlier game today, Man Utd, while playing some good and some bad football, managed to squeak out a 1 goal win over a 10 man Liverpool side.  Man U have now gone 5 points clear of Liverpool in 5th, and we are hearing how "that's the end of Liverpool's aspirations on Top 4."  Meanwhile, Chelsea squeak out a win after playing some great football, and a lot of not so great (mainly Ivan and Cahill), we have a 6 point lead, and a game in hand, and we're seeing posts about us losing the title, Jose being sacked....etc.

It's never easy, folks.  That's what builds the passion in a lot of us because we care.  But to be so f*king defeatist is just becoming tiresome, and dare I say it, a little spoiled?

Thank god for the international break (gives us time to recuperate Costa fully, and I think we need the distraction).

I also think Luis was merely Ok today.  Pulled out of position a number of times, wasn't aware for their first, and at a point (maybe in the build up to the Courtois triple save) he had offered up so much space it was like we were playing 3 at the back.

Finally, a criticism.  Jose, please use more players.  I heard we've only used 21 all season, the fewest of any team in the premiership.  And that directly correlates to my point about Luis...more players need more games otherwise they'll put in performances like that.  More players need lesser games, otherwise they think their spot is assured, and put in performances like Ivan.

KTBFFH

Scott

So Zouma on and Jose is going to try and holdf onto a 1 goal lead. Which has failed us numerous times this season.

In the prem we've actually done quite well in taking and holding on to leads.
