Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Sadly it looks like Costa could very well be on his way in the Summer and if this is the case, we should squeeze as much money out of the Chinese as possible; if Oscar was £60m, then £80m for Costa just doesn't cut it.

As for replacing Costa, this makes my head spin, I just can't see who could possibly fill his boots and whoever we target will shoot up in price. We have European prices, we have PL prices and we have Chelsea prices.

Pains me to say it but wouldn't we just love a Kane, Dele, Wanyama, Dembele, Rose, Walker and Erikson situation, all put together organically or on the cheap.

Rather than chasing shadows and overpriced marquee signings, I dream of one day procuring a reasonably priced virtual unknown, or bringing through one of our youth, who turns out to be a truly world class talent, remains with us for years and has a very successful career.

We did it with Terry and Lampard, so dreams can come true.

Chances dude, chances!!  lukaku, kdb, sturridge, mata, felipe were all pretty cheap buy but if the manager didn't fancy them then your dream is more likely gonna remain in pipe dream..

The manager's preference has a lot of influence on this, that and another is of course our wealth.. It seems like there are some certain position that we would only settle for a marquee signing...

I think this story is being blown out of proportion massively by the media. I do believe an offer has come in and Diego is tempted but i don't think he will leave. His message on Instagram is very strange if he was trying to force a move. Every year since the day he's got here he has wanted to move, yet he's still here nearly 3 years later. If he didn't leave Chelsea for Atleti (the club of his dreams), i highly doubt he'll leave us for for that horror show of a league, regardless of what money they chuck at him. New 250k a week contract to be signed at some point i think.

Was training on his own today too apparantly. Thats the story thats starting to break in the media now at least.

This often happens when a player is injured.

I'm not saying he is injured.

At least he is turning up for training.

Am I the only one that thinks that Diego's message on Instagram is being blown out of proportion? A lot of players have people who manage their social media accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a lackey doing their job rather than Diego himself.

I think that Diego can be persuaded to stay until the end of the season but I can't see him staying at Chelsea longer than that.

Regarding atletico madrid, they never managed to come up with the 'attractive' financial package, both in transfer price and salary..

It is only worth keeping Diego if conte can keep the Diego we have had this season. The monster goal scorer.

If it is the Diego from the first half of last season we would be better served to find the best replacement we can for conte, or stick with hazard, Pedro and willian.

playing the way he is right now I'd love to have Lukaku back...but I bet Costa stays and this is just media sh*t stirring. We'll be back in the CL almost certainly and Costa will see sense

The guys saying this story is nothing, PLEASE take them Chelsea glasses off and realise there has been a bust up. The extent we dont know, but its clear he has no real love for Chelsea.

He is a player that will give is all, wherever he goes. But dont pretend he is loyal to Chelsea. My issue is, he has disrupted our season at a critical time. We done wlel to win at the weekend but its something nobody at the club needed/wanted. He knows we wont let him go in January. At the end of the season, its a different story, so why kick up a fuss now?

Cortouis? Azpi? Ivanovic as well despite what people say about him now.

Yeah, i don't for one second believe he is injured. Really been disappointed with him after the story broke, he and Conte seemed to have a great relationship and he was fireing on all cylinders. Now everything is up in the air. I am not even convinced he's here in two weeks.

Yes we cannot forget them too, although I was more referring to the forward line as far as ongoing dream organics/signings are concerned.

I may eat my words, but I'm near to 100% sure he won't be leaving in January. We won't cave in to that. With no disrespect to the West Ham's of this world, we are a big club where money isn't really an issue. We have absolutely no need or desire to cash in on the league's leading scorer at a time when we're in pole position to win the title.

Therefore, he stays till (at least) the end of the season for me. However the bit that is speculative is what his attitude will be. He either puts this out of his head, focuses on our title push and reconsiders a transfer in the summer. Or he continues to sulk and trains on his own/with the kids and loses the respect of a largely adoring fan base towards him. His decision on this subject is the test of him as a person.

I don't see him signing a new deal, as mentioned he's never seemed 100% happy here, the closest to that ironically I felt was in the last few weeks. He seems to get on very well with Conte so their apparent 'bust-up' I think is largely fabricated. I think he's had his head turned by an extremely lucrative offer, and has been poorly advised by his agent to try and 'force' a move. But this might not be the case at all, we don't see what happens behind closed doors and the media may be doing what the media do so well which is take elements of a story and times it by 1000 in exaggeration.

Stay tuned, but I hope a reasonable outcome is achieved...

Kicking up a fuss now is also stupid for him unless he really wants to go immediately. He seems to be unsettled. The row with Pedro at Spurs points towards this. Its such a bad time to doing this he really doesn't have the clubs and dare I say it the fans best interests at heart.

Think the Pedro situation is seperate. Happens day in day out in football, Team-mates arguing.

maybe we don't need to buy anyone...give Bats his shot

tell that to conte!!! honestly speaking, if bats is not his cup of tea then nothing that can be done.. we have the money, conte is probably thinking he can just go and buy the player he wants..

Being linked with some, alexis is a safe bet but his recent attitude stink or maybe that's a get away ploy?? alvaro morata is another one but would be overpriced and i doubt he's a safer bet than batshuayi.. lukaku, more or less the same with morata, overpriced..  I wonder if recent idea of playing 3 midgets up front would be the hint of getting messi? well, 1 can only dream...

If he wants to go and China offer £150m Chelsea would sell. We could buy Kane and Deli Ali for that.

More chance of Chelsea spending £150m on me as our new number 9 than Kane & Ali. Tottenham aren't letting those two join us. White Hart Lane would get burnt down.
