Ive no doubt itll blow over and he will be back in the team.

That doesnt make him a happy bunny though, and it looks almost certainly like he will move in the summer.

In that case we have Bats or Conte can buy someone from Italy...perhaps Mandzukic or Dzeko

I never felt Costa is more than 3-4 year player for us. He's never tried to learn the language. Now that is not compulsary in a squad like ours but it is telling for me. Compare that to Mata for example. Haz has learned tons.

I see him finishing the season with us and put this to bed till summer. I don't think Costa is such a bar steward leaving us at this point being the leading scorer in the table topping team.

Well if we're to believe that regardless Conte will sell him in the summer why not use the Oscar sale money and see if we can recruit before the end of the transfer window.

Throw out a big offer for a good striker and tell Costa he's got to earn his place back if he wants it.

Regardless of how this pans out I think we are in a strong enough position to emerge okay whether through Costa staying (my preference) or buying another striker.

Both those players could already speak fluent English before signing for us.

Fully agree, we can't be in a position to bend over for Costa,  so to speak. Get a player in now.

after the sh*t show of last season, i don't think any player should be wanting a salary rise. considering the privilege these people have of playing for so much money in the first place, you would think they would have better attitudes towards those who employ them.

i feel the same way as @enigma - last season was dire and if there is any truth to the China/wage demand story it is a bit rich after 5 months of decent performances.

of course none of us knows whats really going on or what Diego Costa is thinking but you'd have to believe that he realises that to leave us in the lurch just to get more money would mark him out as the world's greatest mercenary. when you do see him off the field, he doesn't seem that type.

Now it seems Costa will stay for the end of the season, how quickly things are changing in 24 hours. My guess is this story will go away once Costa start playing again, and resurface at the end of the season ( after we win the league), with the headline ' Costa stun Champion Chelsea with transfer request'

Costa needs to concentrate his mind on the football pitch.......Chelsea Fc should urgently sort this out now, by having a joint meeting with him together with his agent, and if he still insists on wanting to leave, then Sell him as soon as possible for the maximum money they can get for him......

There is no point in keeping him if he's unhappy, as that will unsettle some of the other players.

Buying a replacement will be extremely difficult, but that's life.

tianjin quanjian owner basically confirmed we're willing to let diego leave this summer

"Our club had a massive investment plan for the new season but it was tightened up by the new rules," Shu told Tianjin Sports Channel.  PSG told us Cavani would only be allowed to leave in June, even though the player himself was willing to join us. The same can be said for Costa because Chelsea would only let him leave in June. However, the new season of CSL will almost reach the halfway stage in June, we can't wait so long."

Sounds like they might come back with an improved offer to me. If they offered £100 million right now i think the club would have to think about it at this stage.

They could offer us £200 million but it wouldn't change the fact it would weaken us to the extent we would no longer be favourites for the title.

There is no available replacement on the market and no club looks to lose their star striker half way through a season so that makes it almost impossible.

We sell in January then we are in big trouble.

Their owner also confirmed they have reached an agreement with Mendes/Diego in that interview btw. So i think we can pretty much confirm that the stories was true.

We would be fools to sell Diego now. Money is not everything and I'm glad the club are taking a hard stance on this issue.

I would even resist selling him in June but if the player really does want to go then, maybe for the right price I might be willing. The difficulty will be finding a replacement. There's no top strikers available.

150mln. pounds and they can have him now. Wait till the summer 150mln. again and they can have him.

Even if he score 50 more goals till the end of the season i want him out in the summer. Chelsea did not need greddy player like him. I think he earned 50k. in Atletico, we give him 4 time more then that, 185k. this is more then 10mln./year in euro so his life and for his family/children is safe for the rest of their life, this is pure greed. I dont want such players in our team. This is bad for the dressing room also.

I`m sure Conte won`t make a compromise:

If that is true that's pathetic behaviour from Costa no doubt motivated by his agent.

Imagine how his team mates feel that he's went behind the clubs back to screw us half way through a so far outstanding season?

Problem is if Costas mind is not in the right place we will get the player from last season who spent more time standing on the left wing than in the box and dribbling into defenders.

Keeping Costa is only worthwhile if he can keep his performances up.

Poor taste from the Chinese to talk about other clubs players like that. They know they can't get them in January so why speak about them and unsettle them at the club?

Should refuse to sell him to them on principle. If he wants to leave wait for Griezmann to go Utd and sell him back to Atletico.

Nevermind his team mates, Conte must be absolutely fuming. That clip brakeit posted is very interesting, would not be surprised if Conte feels betrayed by Costa right now and Antonio will probably have problems trusting him again even if he stays through january. If he continues to sulk and not be in this completely Conte is going to "kill" his Chelsea-days thats for sure.
