January 17, 20179 yr storm in a tea cup manager handled it perfectly, unlike the media and lots of CFC fans expect him to impress enough in training to be picked, score vs Hull go on and help the team win a trophy hopefully, and all will be forgotten & forgiven

I'm sure it could happen again. SSN even were saying that Jorge Mendes is using the offer from China as leverage to get Costa a better contract at Chelsea.
January 17, 20179 yr Judging by reports from China ( baidu.com), this whole drama is the wonder work of the super Agent Mendes. He went to china to sell his list of clients, that's why we heard stories of Ronaldo would get 1M a week, Costa 300k etc. He agreed the deal with the Chinese team on behalf of Costa/Falcao. Being the slick salesman he is, he probably told the Chinese team - My clients is happy with the deal, Chelsea will sell if you pay 80M. The Chinese club believed they will get Costa, even at no stage they lodged a bid to Chelsea, all the talks were with Mendes. My guess is Mendes then told Costa - I got you a super deal in China, and Chelsea will let you go. Costa went to Conte, Conte said No way, then escalated to ROman, the soap drama goes on..
January 17, 20179 yr His agent is a complete arsehole.........he's even got the bare faced cheek to say to Chelsea that he is willing to find a replacement for Costa if he leaves........taking the piss or what ........FFS !
January 17, 20179 yr Probably some fire to the smoke somewhere, and let's not downplay Mendes's role. And if you have a tinfoil hat lying about, Mendes is pretty close with Jose... Edited January 17, 20179 yr by VG

The key thing for me is that DC never made a formal transfer request, the media hung onto Conte's 'Go to China' rant and blew that up. A passionate manager rants at a player who probably rubs him up the wrong way quite often. Looks like it's all calmed down and hopefully it's finished with now. I do think though we will need to get used to these episodes with DC in transfer windows, it's happened the last 2 now where we have been wondering what he wants. January 18, 20179 yr Probably some fire to the smoke somewhere, and let's not downplay Mendes's role. And if you have a tinfoil hat lying about, Mendes is pretty close with Jose...I was thinking the same thing the Jose link and this guy trying to derail our season
January 18, 20179 yr “If [the rule] had been ‘4 +1’ as in the past, then we would have made a big investment this year, but now it seems to be changed to three,” billionaire Shu Yuhui told Tianjin TV. “This situation has brought a change to our signing plans. The online reports about Costa, it’s true we’d like him, and we made an offer for Cavani and were deep in negotiations. “Mendes came to my home a few days ago and we also had ideas about Costa, but in the process were ready to sign two players, the contracts were done, the price was good – [Mendes clients] Falcao and Raul Jimenez,” added Shu. “We continue to wait and suffer, but at the end of the day we’ll get someone. We have targeted a lot of strikers, and made an offer for Benzema, but with this policy change, we are very helpless.” These are the quotes that sky gave that apparently confirmed a bid was made, to me it doesn't but saying a club would like to have Diego doesn't quite get you the clicks, so for the sake of continuing there embellished story I suppose they had to interpret it as they have, otherwise there might be some doubt as to whether there other OTT and most likely massively exaggerated if not false stories might be questioned. And lets face it what cub wouldn't like to have Costa in their side, it makes much more sense that Mendes was there to flog Falcao someone past his prime, where both club and player would likely be happy with the move than Costa. Diego Costa has rejoined the Chelsea first team in training after spending the last few days training away from the group, according to Sky sources. Further I love this quote, especially as I think it has been reported that the first team players were given Sunday and Monday off training to rest after the game Saturday, shock horror Deigo trained with them on there first day back it is almost as if there was nothing wrong in the first place.

January 18, 20179 yr Looks like that's the end of the drama for now. I expect him to grab a goal on Sunday whether he starts on the bench or not and all will be forgotten until the end of the season when we have a similar drama.
January 18, 20179 yr I thought all along there was less to this than met the eye. Mind you I thought the Eva thing would be over with a few apologies and hugs all round..........

There were some stuff that was clearly happening but for whatever reasons it was resolved. Good for us but I expect the same 11 as the weekend with Diego coming on at some point. Antonio isn't the type to just let someone walk back into the side after that IMO.
January 18, 20179 yr Imagine the sh*t Conte will get if we end up drawing, having not started Costa. Despite whatever happened behind the scenes, he still is our most crucial player and often he is the difference between 1 point and 3 points. West Ham, Crystal Palace, Watford, Middlesbrough, West Brom, plus him bagging a brace to earn us 1 point at Swansea. He could prove to be the difference again against a rejuvenated Hull
January 18, 20179 yr what an emotion rollercoaster this has been, and probably will continue to be before season is out. i would hope he doesn't leave in the summer considering there's few options out there. also, don't want utd going into next season with the advantage if they do end up signing griezmann.
