John Stones

Be amazed if Everton sell inJanuary.

Didn't we make a £35mil bid for him before the window was closed? It seems unlikely that a one million increase would make such a difference, especially when it's harder to find a replacement in January. Then again, if they managed to agree on the deal now, Everton would have time to find a replacement before January. But having said that, I seriously doubt Stones is leaving Everton before next summer.

I doubt it very much much they sell in January, There is a real possibility that Everton get Champions League football this season if they keep their Starting 11 together

I can only see them selling if they finish mid table with them struggling for the remainder of the season. At present they have the most promising young team in the league

Says we will make a move, which is very likely, but not that we will sign him, which is very unlikely.

Basically this team and this manager needs to dig us out of the hole we are in and get is moving back up the league.

If they fail Jose and several of the team will likely be gone.

He will only move next summer, if at all and even then, it's no guarantee that Stones will move to Chelsea as other clubs will make bids for him too.

Chelsea has a major rebuilding job to do with its spine and full back positions in desperate need of strengthening next summer.

However, I doubt there will be lots of money spent.

Everyone says a few clubs will be in for him but who else would be willing to outlay 40+ million on him? Surely it will be down to only us and United.

Ive said from the beginning, if he wants to leave Everton will struggle to get much morr than we have reportedly offerred already. They are going to look like idiots if he wants out and they have to settle for 35-40m next summer because nobody else is going to pay that aside from us.

I cant see why he would even want to go to City with Kompany, Mangala, Otemendi and be 3rd or 4th choice.

United are most likely, in fact he would probably fit LVGs system well. However he's already bought a few defenders and their picking up some steam.

Dunno, just have suspicion its going to be tough to get much more than 40m for him when clubs can buy other foreign players for much less and most of the big clubs are already stocked at the back

He would start for any team in the league.

Both the Manchester clubs would outbid anything Chelsea offers if they wish to.

Also, Roman has tighetened the purse strings and I am convinced he will refuse to sanction any purchase above a certain valuation.  Stones at 40 million pounds?  Chelsea will walk away.

and walk away we should if common sense is required.. lets face it, if there is 1 position that is not that difficult to make it successful signing is center back.. We need the experience one with commanding attribute, john stone is not that guy, we already have cahill and zouma so another one must be like a general type like defender to balance things out..

What are you talking about? Stones would be ideal for our defence and he's only going to get better. Who would you rather sign then?

They could outbid us but my point is they arent likely to.

Bump. January window about a month away.

Surely we will make another move for him?

I suppose we will, but Everton won't sell him to us before next summer. Not sure they will sell him to us then either...

He needs to move for himself too, can't stay at a club with no ambition for the rest of his career.

Being a starter at his age for a club with europa league ambitions probably isn't a bad thing.

i heard arsenal are also interested in him.

I sincerely hope that isn't true - a defence featuring Koscielny, Stones and an emergent Bellerin in front of Petr Cech is something I would be very worried about.

It would be our fault. We really should have pursued him stronger early in the summer window. Everton may still have a chip on their shoulder regarding the way we went about everything (whether acceptable or otherwise) and may not be willing to sell to us, and instead decide to negotiate with arsenal.

I would worry mate. He'll go there and within a month or so will just join his team-mates on the treatment table. f**k me, I hope Arsenal got granted that planning permission for the extension they needed. How many injured players can they treat at any one time?

The point of Everton keeping him is they have CL ambitions. They have a better chance than we do of meeting that this season than us

We've had the worst spell since Abromavich has been here, the worst spell in Jose's career...Everton are having quite a good spell but are still only six points ahead of us, If I was John Stones I know where I'd rather be if I were pinning my hopes on top four even this season.
