BlueBeard Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Pat Jennings Ron Harris. - Marcel Desailly. - John Terry. - Eddie McCreadie Jimmy Johnstone - Graeme Souness. - Dave Mackay. - George Best Puskas. - Jimmy Greaves
chickenfluff Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Feck me theres some really good teams here. You would need abu dhabi and roman combined to pay for that lot. heres my favorite Schmeichel Cafu Beckenbauer Baresi Maldini Ronaldinho Xavi Zidane Best Puskas Luis Ronaldo subs Charlton, Maradona, Messi, Terry, Drogba, Zoff.
chickenfluff Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Must be said that world class central defenders came off a conveyor belt, there was plenty. Nowadays there does not seem to be any coming through. Todays best ones are coming to an end. Strikers, midfielders and goalkeepers the quality is still there and there is also an argument that the players in these positions are possibly improving but todays defenders are not. Shame because I really enjoy a defender who can get stuck in, last ditch tackles, blocking of the line its all part of the game. Quality defending is an art form.
AlexTommo Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 --------Buffon Cafu-Maldini-Cannavaro-Carlos -Ronaldinho - Lampard - Zidane Messi - Ronaldo - Cristiano

Eligius Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I bet all the people that picked c ronaldo are english or born after 1990
Eligius Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Neuer Alves-Nesta-Maldini-Carlos Viera-Gerrard Landrup-Messi-Ronaldinho Ronaldo Cafu had a better career, but Dani Alves at his peak is the best fullback in the world... It's too hard to make top 11 in history since most of us never seen the likes of pele, etc.... My 11 for now would be Neuer Ramos-Varane-Silva-Alaba Verrati Thiago-Vidal Messi-Aguero-Robben Bench: Silva, suarez, benzema, modric, lahm, DDG, Gundogan and douglas costa Edited September 13, 2015 by Eligius
Celery1989 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) I was born in 1989 so will only consider players that have played since: ---------------Schmeichel-------------- --Cafu----Maldini----Terry----Cole-- ----------Vieira----------Pirlo----------- ---Messi-------Zidane-----Ronaldinho- ---------------C. Ronaldo--------------- Strongly considered Buffon, Zambrotta, Nesta, Scholes, Makelele, Giggs, Henry, Raul, Ronaldo. Edited September 13, 2015 by Celery1989
Celery1989 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Also I'm really surprised how many of you have included Roberto Carlos. Terrific player to watch, some unreal goals and freekicks but from what I remember he was very suspect defensively.
Teritus Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) Where's Bobby Moore? Some awesome teams. Certainly England's best ever defender, but I rate a few - Baresi, Scirea, Beckenbauer if played there - just slightly higher in all-time sense. He's right up there though. Edited September 14, 2015 by Teritus
ForeverCarefree Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 If you asked me to pick the team again tomorrow it would probably be completely different. Basing my team purely on players that have played since I've been watching football. ---------------Buffon-------------- -Cannavaro---Terry---Maldini-- ----------Xavi--------Keane-------- ---Messi-------Zidane-----C.Ronaldo- ---------Ronaldo-----Henry-----------

Floyd25 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Best XI - From my time: Buffon Maldini Baresi Nesta Cafu Lampard Zidane Ronaldinho Messi C.Ronaldo Ronaldo Second person to include Lampard, but he was arguably the second best midfielder in the world at one stage and his goal and assists tally is ridiculous, I still think neatrul's underrate him, no chance that Gerrard was a better player in my opinion, what could he do better? Nothing. Some honourable mentions: Kahn Schmeichel Cech Carlos Desailly Thuram Terry Cannavaro A. Cole Rijkaard Rivaldo Figo Riquelme Xavi Iniesta Kaka Weah Baggio Batistuta Suker Piero Shearer Zola Trezeguet Raul Shevshenko Henry Drogba There's many more. Edited December 3, 2015 by Floyd25
erskblue Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Some of these sides are cracking ones. They seem to reflect at times when people were born. My younger son (also a Blue) and I debate for example who is the the best French player. I say Platini, he says Zidane.

We should ask Jose why he wanted Gerrard on every team he managed ala Chelsea, RM and Inter Milan..
